Read doubtful for Bulls showdown
16 Jul 2012
All Blacks No 8 Kieran Read is still battling a rib injury and could miss the Crusaders’ play-off match against the Bulls.
Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder has said that Read has a ’50-50′ chance of playing this Saturday. However, Blackadder won’t risk Read if he is not ready, and it is more likely that the No 8 will return to the mix should the Crusaders advance to the semi-finals.
Richie McCaw has been filling in at No 8 in Read’s absence. McCaw will probably start in that position against the Bulls, with Matt Todd at openside flank.
Lock Sam Whitelock and centre Robbie Fruean are expected to return to the starting side and Adam Whitelock will move back to right wing.
