Foley quits Tahs

Waratahs head coach Michael Foley has resigned after a woeful season with the Sydney-based side.

The Tahs finished 11th, winning just four of their 16 matches and losing their last eight. There has been tremendous pressure from the media and fans on Foley to step down.

He had been resolute in his belief that he would turn things around during the season but ultimately their poor performances were costly.

Foley said: ‘While it’s been a challenging season for everyone, being involved over the last four years has been extremely rewarding, particularly being part of a team that was able to play in two finals series.

‘I believe that the squad and organisation has the potential to turn it around and I wish everyone the best for next season.’

Foley is reported to be wanted for the vacant head coach’s post at the Force. He is expected to sign a three-year contract with the Perth side shortly.

Where does this leave Sarel Pretorius? Will he return to SA or go for the big Euro money?

The Stormers are currently where the Tahs were a few years ago. They played very boring winning rugby and always made the knock out stages but never won anything.

The waratahs will never succeed at super rugby! The coaching position is a poisoned chalice and for mackenzie to take them to the finals twise is an outstanding achievement given the mountains he has to climb with the waratah administration.

Foley is a brilliant coach but in the wrong administration that will not take responsibility.
