Bok duo commits to Cheetahs
7 Aug 2012
Cheetahs captain Adriaan Strauss and prop Coenie Oosthuizen have signed a two-year contract extension with the central franchise.
Strauss and Oosthuizen will remain with the Cheetahs until the end of the 2014 season. Coach Naka Drotske told Volksblad that keeping the Springbok front rankers in Bloemfontein will ensure that the Cheetahs remain competitive in the 2013 Super Rugby competition.
Apart from serving as captain in the absence of Juan Smith, Strauss has been one of the Cheetahs’ best players. Oosthuizen forced his way into the Bok side after some powerful Super Rugby showings. His move to tighthead will offset the loss of Cheetahs prop WP Nel, who recently moved to Edinburgh.

SA needs tightheads. Coenie used to be a TH before he was moved to LH when he made the FS snr team.

Coenie’s decision is not a surprise.
You will struggle to lure him away from the Bloem nightlife.

@Transformation-1: He played TH most of the games while WP Nel was injured.
He was always going to move back to TH, but Naka wanted him to get used to senior rugby scrumming while keeping him mobile. Os had him lose 15kg for the same purpose.
Have your say
