Cheetahs back Baby Bok wing

Cheetahs back Baby Bok wing

SA U20 wing Raymond Rhule will make his Currie Cup debut when he plays for the Cheetahs against the Lions.

Rhule was one of the standouts for the Baby Boks in their successful IRB Junior World Championship campaign. He will start on the left wing.

Robert Ebersohn will captain the side in the absence of senior players like Adriaan Strauss and Heinrich Brussow. Strauss is currently with the senior Bok squad while Brussow is still recovering from a knee injury.

Cheetahs - 15 Hennie Daniller, 14 Nico Scheepers, 13 Robert Ebersohn (c), 12 Andries Strauss, 11 Raymond Rhule, 10 Riaan Smit, 9 Pieter van Zyl, 8 Davon Raubenheimer, 7 Lappies Labuschagné, 6 Boom Prinsloo, 5 Izak van der Westhuizen, 4 Waltie Vermeulen, 3 Marcel van der Merwe, 2 Hercu Liebenberg, 1 Trevor Nyakane.

    i wish him well.

he showed deft touches in going forward and continuity play as well a few good defensive efforts in the jwc. more importantly though is his instinct for scoring, which is a wingers bread and butter.
if i remember correctly he only scored two tries so needs to up that part of his game.

Awesome news again – that guy was on fire at the cup. He steps like a springbok (i mean literally). Awesome speed. Just what is needed in a Bok team.

Great to see some of the youngsters from the Junior WC getting a start here in the CC. Rule for Cheetahs and Serfontein for Bulls.

After watching Rhule for the Baby Boks thought he must be the fastest wing we have in SA. He has some serious speed. Rhule will definitely suit the Cheetahs style of play. Looking forward to seeing him playing this Currie Cup season and also to how Serfontein plays at this level too.

    @Transformation-5:
    i dont understand?
this is specifically about rhule, and i am rating him?
i’m just saying he did a lot of really good things in the games he played at jwc (how many games did he play anyway? i dont think many?) and that if he can add to this try blitzing as well it would be great.

habana left on wc tournament as the highest try scorer didnt he?
thats all i’m saying, he’s a great player who offers a lot more than ‘just being a wing’ and more tris would be nice.

Yes agree Rhule for the Cheetahs is a seriously good talent. Could become one of our best wingers yet. Was impressive for the Junior Boks.

Raymond Rhule was outstanding in the knockout stages in jwc

Especially in the semis were he was nothing short phenomenal.definitely played better Jordaan

Good to see youngsters coming through from u20 ranks

    Ruan Botha
    Paul Willemse
    PIet Steph Du Toit
    Rhule
    Serfontein
    Jordaan

All going to play Currie Cup rugby this year

Wish loaning system was used in SA because players like Mbovane,Wall-Smith,Ledtys,Adendorff could be blooded now already in CC as well.

Played better than Jordaan??? well, considering that Jordaan played only 11 minutes against pumitas…

btw, did you see Jordaan against England? Jordaan over Rhule anytime anywhere

I did see Jordaan vs England, good game. But Rhule vs Pumas who had beaten highly rated Ozzies & France-Rhule tore them a new one.His 2 tries were what SA doesnt have in abundance…Skill, speed, great running lines.

On the wing I would take Rhule ahead of Jordaan any day.in midfield yeah Jordaan
