ABs set for Read boost

Kieran Read is confident that he’ll recover from his rib injury in time for the All Blacks’ Rugby Championship opener against the Wallabies next Saturday.

The No 8 missed the Crusaders’ final three matches of their Super Rugby campaign because rib damaged cartilage. However, he confirmed that he should be fit as he joined his All Black team-mates at training in Waitakere on Friday.

‘They’re [the ribs] feeling really good, I haven’t pushed them yet and not a lot of contact, so I’ll just have to see how they pull up next week but feeling really good at the moment,’ Read told the media.

Lock Luke Romano is still an injury concern as he hurt his shoulder in the Super Rugby semi-final. Head coach Steve Hansen will be hoping the second-rower will recover in time as he is the third specialist lock in the squad.

Meanwhile, the All Blacks are yet to confirm Sonny Bill Williams’ availability for selection. The NZRU are trying to sort out a short-term deal with his new Japanese club Panasonic Wild Knights, which will allow him to play in Sydney and the return match against the Wallabies in Auckland a week later.

    Point 1:
Only a seriously faulty baton change can cost the Jamaicans Gold.
    So yes, they will…………………………convincingly.

    Point 2:
Casta………………………….depends if she has been taking her medicine.

    Point 3;
NZ is running out of options.
But Our Girlies won a Yacthing Gold today, so we are on 4 Golds.

I am glad the Ozzies have stepped it up and started to win some golds.
I was sick and tired of our media giving them a hard time about not winning.
Embarrasing, i hope the Ozzies rub it back in our faces. Sick of our media making us
at times look like fools, even though majority of NZ hate what they say and do.

@Skeppie-194: did you see tanerau latimer peel off a scrum to block both kanko and daniels from tackling kane thompson before the 8th man crashed over for the chiefs 2nd try?

even a youngster like brody retallick is in on the act as seen when he cleanly tackled michalak without the ball @ the ruck before nanai-williams
    try.

the chiefs got away with it as the sharks got away with a lot of their guys standing offside the whole game…

What were your 4 golds in?

    4 is above average Skeppie.

@Transformation-209: Look I have the utmost respect for the kiwi’s, there is just something ingrained in me to respect our old rivals but I must admit it does seem like it’s a coached thing, the whole grab onto “pillar” defenders close to the breakdown etc. I dont for a second think they are dirtier than anyone else but they do seem to have a lot of tricks up their sleeves.

if its a player acting individually its bad and should rightly be punished.
if its a team acting in collective unison under coaching supervision its that mch worse i feel. the punishment should fit the crime.
if an individual cheats he is punished as an individual, so if a team cheats it should be punished as a collective.

The shot put bronze the only real sport medal then?

Us having a big squad means we did better than others to get to the Olympics.
But this has been a good haul for us.

If we didn’t insist on about 3 “administrators” to every athlete, we could also send a proper team over.

But they must have it, of course.

its vernacular parlance and is a sort of term of endearance type nicknaming convention for south african national teams. to put the ama in front and to double up the name.i.e:

    ama boko boko (springboks)
    ama glug glug (u23 football)
    bafana bafana (football national team)
    banyana banyana (women football team)

    no, either should be punished.

besides, kiwi teams do far more than just hold onto jerseys and slow down opposition ball. there is a lot of dangerous tackle and other type dangerous play which is clearly not dealt with appropriately.

taimefuna to cite but one of many instances.

also laughable is the leniency of punishments meted out. he got a measy one week suspension. on this subject, the mystery of the nothing to cite white card incident in the chiefs semi.

and while we’re on the subject, the despicable cover up of the sharks player bottling incident by the blues stadium management and nzru.

when the same thing happened here we had the perpetrator arrested, sought criminal charges, banned him for life and made a full apology to the team and individual player affected.

your culture around rugby stinks at the moment and you need to fix it.

Haven’t seen any critical reviews yet but I’m a huge fan and thought it was excellent.

They interviewed people close to Bob like his wife and all the living ex- Wailers, so you really got understand who the man behind the legend was.

    OK, thanks…

i saw a review in a morning paper today – they gave it 4/5 and thought it was very good as the filmmaker did not “force ” his will on the audience but allow them to come to their own conclusions based on the interviews- very much in line to what you are saying.

I will try and catch it next week- also quite a fan.
