The EP Kings picked up their sixth win of this year’s Currie Cup First Division campaign as they beat the Leopards 20-12 in PE.
The second tier of South African rugby has reached its halfway stage, and the Kings have made a strong start to the tournament. They haven’t lost a match and have only dropped log points in the 30-30 stalemate against the Pumas last weekend.
However, they took a big step towards securing top spot on the table as the downed the Leopards, who are currently in second place.
Flyhavles George Whitehead (three penalties) and Wesley Dunlop (two penalties) kicked most of the victors’ points, while Samoan wing Paul Perez crossed the chalk for the only try of the match. Leopards flyhalf Andre Pretorius kicked four three-pointers.
The Kings now hold six-log point lead in the standings.
Meanwhile, the Pumas and SWD won big as they thrashed the Griffons (67-34) and Valke (47-22) respectively. Boland picked up their second win of the season when they edged Border 39-32.
