SA Schools down Wales

The SA Schools side recorded their second consecutive victory when they beat Wales U18 24-16 in George.

After downing France U18 17-7 in Wellington last Friday, the South African schoolboys went on to down the young Dragons at Outeniqua Park after leading 15-0 at the break.

The hosts scored three tries in the first half via wings Matjikinyane Molapo and Sergeal Petersen, and inside centre Rohan Janse van Rensburg.

Flyhalf Ryno Eksteen had a poor outing with the boot, missing two conversions and three early penalty attempts. The Bulls U18 Craven Week pivot was substituted on the half hour mark, with Baby Bok No 10 Handre Pollard getting an early run off the bench.

After the break, the SA Schools could only add three penalties via Pollard. Wales fought back well in the second stanza as they scored 16 points via a try by inside centre Ben Roberts and the boot of flyhalf Jack Maynard (one conversion and three penalties).

In the earlier match, France U18 downed England U18 20-13.
