Cheetahs lose prop
28 Aug 2012
The Free State Cheetahs will be without injured loosehead prop Trevor Nyakane for the rest of the Currie Cup campaign.
Nyakane broke his thumb during Free State’s 29-16 win over Griquas last weekend and is expected to be out of action for eight to six weeks. This is a big blow as the Cheetahs have already lost WP Nel (Edinburgh, Scotland) and Coenie Oostuizen (injury) in their front row stocks.
Schalk van der Merwe is set to take over in the No 1 jersey, while Ross Geldenhuys provides back-up.

Only a sick convoluted mind will make that connexion so early in the morning. When will rugby players just be plain rugby players?

@i_love_u_bakkiesbotha-5: Fern is not a gremlin.
He is a sexually transmitted disease…..
No better than Grant 100, Hondo and that bitter Brigadier fellow who seems to be stuck in a war of his own making.
Herpes.

Really sad. Trevor is a great rookie and he needed the experience before 2013′s Super Rugby.

Nyakane is very talented, decent scrummager for 1 so young, good ball carrier and mobility.best attribute is his ability to GENUINELY play 1/3 as one Pat Cilliers.
Definitely one for the future

trev has shown promise. very mobile, good scummager for a guy so young. i have high hopes for him. looks to have a decent head on his shoulder too, when you read some of the interview his given like the one in sports illustrated. best of luck with recovery. and he only broke his thumb, so he’l be able to still come in to the training ground and work on tactics ,positioning and talking to Os about scrum techniques etc. always got to find ways to improve
