Force reel in Blues No 9

Force reel in Blues No 9

The Western Force have signed scrumhalf Alby Mathewson from the Blues.

Mathewson will join the Perth Super Rugby team as their second marquee player. The Force have already signed Cheetahs flyhalf Sias Ebersohn for next season.

Mathewson, who was voted New Zealand’s Super Rugby Player of the Year in 2010, has struggled for game time at the Blues following the arrival of All Blacks halfback Piri Weepu from the Hurricanes. This has encouraged the 26-year-old to move abroad on a one-year deal.

    This young dragon had a better chance to pick up a bar of soap in the showers at Oppikoppi that hasnt got any p ubes on than getting playtime at the Blues.
    Why is piri in the all black squad?
    Seems he has signed a cheerleader contract and all he does is lead that stupid little jazz hands dance they do before a game.

    Why do some despise the haka? As a Maori, it is hurtful to see something that represents ones culture constantly rubbished by those that have no understanding of what it represents.

    te ranged there is no honour in the haka before a all black game,seeing the real deal at a marea will be better
    it has been turned into a commercial event,the irb even made a rule that other teams are not allowed to walk up while it is performed up to a certain distance.
    i have no respect for this commercialised version,it has no mana in my opinion

    @Te Rangatira-3: kia ora bro… you have to understand, that people like Fern and a lot here dont like the haka because they come from backgrounds that have tried to quash anothers culture for near on a century..

    it is in their genes, and is indicative of the issues that have graced SA for so long..

    understanding to them does not exist, it is better to belittle and pour scorn because they are devoid of their own culture..

    you can now understand why I continuously give these guys the rubbish I do…

    Thats your opinion Fernly, and I see your point. Yes the PC element where the Ab Haka is not to be challenged by the opposition is laughable and really not in line with Maori custom.However to denigrate the Haka itself sems below the belt imo.

    @Te Rangatira-6: The whole point of the haka is that it lays the challenge down to the opposition, no? Really laughable that the opposition is unable to accept that challenge, except through binoculars.

    @trupisero-8:
    Correct Trups…..in fact it is seen as a slap in the face by Maori if there is no reply to the challenge laid down by the haka.

    @Te Rangatira-9: Then perhaps the ABs should petition the IRB to stop this nonsense. I mean, everyone, except the IRB, thought the French’s response in the RWC final was great.

  • 11.wnbb: Reply to this comment

    Why don’t you just f off Fern and try to honour your mate’s memory with dignity and respect instead of bashing Maori culture and using your mate’s death to elicit negative responses from Poppa.

    @poppa69-5:
    Kia ora Pops…..you’re a hard man there Pops…..Perhaps we should look to educate those who have no idea about our culture……not try to pick a fight with them. At the end of the day we are all trying to get on with our lives and bringing peoples together is the key to a harmonious society,,,,,,separation will only lead to disastrous discord.

    @wnbb-11: Fernly is about 12 short of a baker’s dozen.

    @trupisero-10:
    Yep….love that stuff when the opposition give it back within reason. I remember at college when the first xv were spat on when doing the haka by a prominent Auckland school, now that is going beyond the bounds of an appropriate response to the Haka

    @Te Rangatira-3: personally think it is very disrespectful and shows the class of the person —- how are things bud

    @Te Rangatira-14: Accept the challenge is great – mocking it like that is BS. I fondly remember the 95 RWC final where the boks stood right on the halfway line, virtually toe to toe. Both teams knew they were in for a game.

    Can’t remember the opposition, one of the home unions if I recall where they didn’t move after the haka, the ABs wouldn’t move either and the ref being ignored by both sides for a while before they moved on.

    Good thanks Stew….and yourself? All good in Chiefs territory I hope…. Nah….Fernly is all good, well to me he is…..he has some personal issues with Pops I think….they can sort that out between them.

    @trupisero-16:
    Yeah that game was v Wales, excellent stuff…..ramps up the occasion,nothing wrong with it. The IRB started to clamp down when Cockerill the hooker from England and Norm Hewitt got into a little pushing match…..but thats only human emotion all part of the theatre, the IRB are too soft…pandering to non rugby folk.

    Plainly said: Fern is a cocktonsil. If he were a Kiwi, he would be a cocktonsil, if he were a Dane he would be a cocktonsil, it’s just unfortunate he is a Saffa…..
    I have no interest in his sort being seen as representative of the average Saffa. It’s a stain on those of us who don’t share in his belief system.

    If he were a fly, one could swat him, but sadly, he is a human – which means the best one can do, is ignore him.

    It adds that something to a test match, Stew. For example the Sa v Arg game ….line up….national anthems on a crappy PA sound system……kickoff….quite mindane really when compared to an Ab test.

    @Te Rangatira-21: Kudos must be given for SBW for his last display of union …. I really thought good ridence but hell did he have a good game in the no 12 jersey, just watched the replay and it was like the SBW show…… It is a shame as especially due to the fact that the 12,13 combo has not been settled for the last few years and now will have to be tested again ! Who will be the contenders ???

    Blah Blah Blah, wtf do you know about mana?
    You have constantly attacked the Haka from day one.
    Sorry Fern but you have once again been found out.
    Then to finish off bring in your mates death….. sorry about your loss and all but as you said to Poppa, is this really the place for these sorts of things?

  • 24.Hurricane: Reply to this comment

    @stew-22:
    13 has been settled for a long time Stew.
    Conrad is the best 13 we have by alot. Once he puts the AB jersey on its all go.
    Best defensive 13 going around and a real thinker to boot.
    12 could be intersting, but i think we will go back to the Nonu and Smith show to see how that is again. Been a while.

  • 25.stew: Reply to this comment

    @Hurricane-24: Agreed but 12 is still a problem IMO has not been sorted since the dropping of Mauger in 2007 – seems a long time !

  • 26.stew: Reply to this comment

    @Hurricane-24: Anybody know when Kahui will be back ?

  • 27.Hurricane: Reply to this comment

    @stew-26:
    Yeah now Kahui would be great to have back. I think he is a bit wasted on the wing.
    I know hes a centre but have anyone tried him at 12? I cant recall if he has played there at all.

  • 28.mshiniwami: Reply to this comment

    Next couple yrs some centers will have to step up for Nz

    Nonu and smith will be gone in 12-18 months esp nonu

    Ellison
    Freaun
