Mitchell’s injury curse continues
29 Aug 2012
Drew Mitchell faces another long spell on the sidelines after picking up an ankle injury during the Wallabies’ loss to the All Blacks last weekend.
The speedster played his first Test since the 2011 World Cup in Auckland last Saturday. However, he was substituted after rupturing a tendon in his ankle.
He is expected to be out of action for 12 months.
This is the third time Mitchell suffered a serious ankle injury. Last year during Super Rugby, he broke his ankle during the early rounds against the Reds. During the World Cup, his run was cut short with a hamstring niggle. This year, he missed most of the Waratahs’ season because of an injury to the same ankle he’s struggling with currently.

This dragon was leading try scorer at the 2007 WC. The Gods have since elected to curse him

@viewer-3: Didn’t Bryan Habana score more?

@6 correct. Wikipedia says Habana (1st) 8 tries from 7 matches; Mitchell (2nd) 7 tries from 5 matches.
Have your say
