Duvenage disaster for WP
3 Sep 2012
Scrumhalf Dewaldt Duvenage has joined the extensive list of crocked and crippled to compound Western Province’s injury woes.
Duvenage broke his leg in Saturday’s Currie Cup match against the Blue Bulls. Coach Allister Coetzee confirmed on Sunday that the scrumhalf had fractured his right fibula and that he won’t be back in action until the 2013 Super Rugby competition.
The Cape side endured a nightmare 2012 Super Rugby campaign, where they lost a number of key players to serious injury. Their bad run of injuries has continued into the Currie Cup, with a season-ending injury to star flanker Siya Kolisi now being succeeded by a year-ending bone-breaker for Duvenage.
Coetzee has also confirmed that wing Ederies Arendse will be out for 10 days with a bruised shoulder. Fullback Joe Pietersen is nursing a wrist injury and will be reassessed in the coming week.

When I read this title I thought,
“Sh*t! He’s been cleared for next week!”
Ah well, AC will probably start the other Twat Shroeder or however you spell it.
Groom was phenomenal (kicking aside).

Groom as a replacement is hardly a disaster for WP. He was magnificent when he came on.

Groom is better than Schreuder – we all know it – we’ve been advocating this for a while now.

Never nice to lose a player to injury – lets hope he makes a good recovery.
Schreuder is a slightly better but very much the same type of player than Duvenhage. Groom is streets ahead of both of them – much more attacking, abrasive with a fast accurate pass . Duvenhage/Schreuder are slightly better kickers but as long as WP/Stormers have a flyhalf who can kick out of hand (Note: no Grant) Nick’s kicking game is more than adequate.
Having said it, I have not much doubt that the conservative AC will start with Schreuder.

Duvies has heaps of experience and has been decent over the last few years, however he does lack that something.
Who’s the better number 9, Groom or Schreuder??? Schreuder prob has more pedigree, been going thro the age groups, played SAu20. Also a potential future captain.
Groom has that ‘dog’ in him, tough lil player. Doesnt have the same kicking game a Schreuder….
We need Gary van aswegan to start wearing the number 10 jersey, the greek is leaving soon so we shouldnt waste our time with him. Tim Swiel also very good but pretty young. Who’s the next hooker in line??? Tiaan, Scarra and ??

Zorba and the youngsters played well, uninhibited and no mental baggage. Jp dup and marcel are good and could become great but we need a real 10 like gary, zorba , swiel, bullscravenweek 10, elton Meaningless win, but F@rk it was good to punish those inbredbluebovines.

Bulls rugby fell apart when the quality of their cheerleaders went down the drain. Its all about the fuzz
