The Kings took a significant step towards a home semi-final with a nine-try 60-19 demolition of the Griffons in Port Elizabeth. Luke Watson scored a hat-trick to drive his side to a victory that leaves them well placed with just two rounds to play.
The Kings are eight points ahead of the Pumas, who thumped Border 41-10 in Nelspruit. Meanwhile, the tournament’s lading try scorers, Leopards man Allister Kettledas, scored a hat-trick in his side’s comprehensive 57-22 victory over the Valke in Potchefstroom.
SWD kept their hopes of a semi-final alive with a 42-38 victory over Boland in Wellington. They are fifth, two points off the Griffons.
