Cheika new Waratahs coach

Former Leinster and Stade Francais mentor Michael Cheika has replaced Michael Foley as the Waratahs’ Super Rugby coach.
Cheika has been handed a three-year contract, and tasked with turning the Sydney franchise around.
He replaces Foley who resigned in July after just one season at the helm. Foley failed to lead the Waratahs to the play-offs, and struggled to implement a playing style that would please the demanding fan base.
‘I don’t know if I’m an agent but I definitely like the challenge of being able to change something for the better, not just changing things for the sake of it,’ Cheika said.
‘I don’t feel that that’s an extra pressure [to improve the playing style] because that’s what I want to do. I come from an attacking background, sometimes to my own detriment. I don’t think you can win big games without scoring tries.’
Cheika led Leinster to the European Cup title in 2009.

Fantastic appointment, always wondered how he’d do in the southern hemisphere.
