Cooper blow for Wallabies

Wallabies flyhalf Quade Cooper will miss the rest of the Rugby Championship campaign because of a knee injury.

The player picked up the injury during Australia’s 23-19 win over Argentina last weekend. Doctors believe the 24-year-old will need to undergo surgery, which will rule him out of the Wallabies’ away fixtures against the Springboks (29 September) and Pumas (7 October).

Cooper struggled with the same injury earlier this year and missed most of Super Rugby this season. Berrick Barnes is expected to take over the Wallabies No 10 jersey.

Cooper joins scrumhalf Will Genia, lock James Horwill, flank David Pocock, utility back James O’Connor, No 8 Wycliff Palu, wing Drew Mitchell and centre Rob Horne on the sidelines.

Seems to be injured a lot these days. Argies will beat them on home turf.

So Wallabies are now without their 1st choice halfbacks. No Genia or Cooper.

Arg should beat the Wallabies on their home turf and should have beaten them on the Gold Coast too.

Aussies will be stronger without Cooper. He’s overrated, can’t handle pressue and can’t tackle! Also not a good enough place kicker. Did I leave anything out?

@Braders-3: Agreed, at least on current form. Cooper is currently very low on confidence (some would say deservedly so) and isn’t the same player if he isn’t strutting about like he owns the place. If the injury is to the same knee that gave way during the RWC then his Test career may be over.

Either way, the Pumas should beat the Wallabies in Argentina. And the Boks should beat the Wallabies comfortably in SA (about time, too).

Well well, Barnes @ 10 & McCabe or Faingaa in the centres will add nothing to their attack. Tough times
