@Sghibha-4: Probably Supersport I imagine. SARU still has to confirm which 6 wildcard team will be competing. So I'm sure the finer details will come about in the next few weeks.

Good news and with school rugby shrinking every year we may see parents taking their 10 year olds to join clubs.

Exciting competition. About time this happened, club rugby has been neglected for far too long. If Club Champs 2012 worked on the same qualification process as 2011. Only 3 Varsity Cup sides would’ve qualified. The real depth in rugby in this country is certainly at club level.

A step in the right direction. I like the idea of the top 8 playing basically for positions 1 to 8. At the current tournament, Durbanville-Bellville has been knocked out in the quarter-finals and were sent packing. On the other hand, because of the luck of the draw, Old Selbornians progressed to the semi-finals but were hammered by College Rovers with 72 – 10. In the new format DurbBell would have been able to say secure a 5th spot. With the new system Old Selbornians would probably not have made it to the top 8, or am I being too harsh ?
