Beale spearheads Wallabies’ assault
27 Sep 2012
Kurtley Beale has replaced Quade Cooper at flyhalf for the crunch match between Australia and South Africa at Loftus Versfeld.
Beale is shifted from fullback to the pivotal position of No 10, a move that suggests the Wallabies will persist with their expansive tactics. Coach Robbie Deans has neglected to employ the more conservative flyhalf option, that is Berrick Barnes, preferring to utilise Barnes’s boot from the fullback position. Barnes will kick for goal.
Nathan Sharpe will captain the Wallabies and will be joined by Kane Douglas in the second row. Sitaleki Timani has failed to recover from a hamstring strain and won’t be risked.
Brett Sheehan is the new face on a Wallabies bench that features just two backs.
Wallabies – 15 Berrick Barnes, 14 Dominic Shipperley, 13 Adam Ashley-Cooper, 12 Pat McCabe, 11 Digby Ioane, 10 Kurtley Beale, 9 Nick Phipps, 8 Radike Samo, 7 Michael Hooper, 6 Dave Dennis, 5 Nathan Sharpe (c), 4 Kane Douglas, 3 Ben Alexander, 2 Tatafu Polota Nau, 1 Benn Robinson
Subs: 16 Saia Fainga’a, 17 James Slipper, 18 Rob Simmons, 19 Scott Higginbotham, 20 Liam Gill, 21 Brett Sheehan, 22 Anthony Fainga’a

Better get used to that 10 jersey Beale. Cooper has jumped into the bottom of his own dunny hole and is still digging hard. Be interesting to see what happens when OConner returns?
Can’t see the ARU putting up with too much more ‘spoilt brat’ behavior from Cooper. Sounds like the guy who is playing poorly isn’t getting enough cuddles and reassurance from the coach/ARU that he really is a superstar and that he doesn’t have to listen to all those nasty comments about him being a prat. I think that he will lose more games for Aus than he will win unless he grows up fast, so they shouldn’t be crying over losing him if he goes to league. Funny thing is that he won’t be able to hide from tackling in league and I could see him becoming even a bigger liability in that game.
Have your say
