Wallabies duo limps home
30 Sep 2012
Berrick Barnes and Adam Ashley-Cooper will take no further part in the Rugby Championship due to injuries sustained in Australia’s recent loss to South Africa.
Barnes suffered a punctured lung while Ashley-Cooper was taken to hospital following a heavy head knock. It was later confirmed that Ashley-Cooper had suffered a concussion, and he along with Barnes will travel home to Australia.
There is also doubt over winger Digby Ioane (knee), No 8 Radike Samo (shoulder) and hooker Tatafu Polota-Nau (neck/shoulder).
The Wallabies have called up lock Cadeyrn Neville and back Luke Morahan as cover for their final Rugby Championship Test against Argentina.

They must be running low on people who know how to play rugby in OZ by now. Pretty soon they’ll be fielding cricket players.

The graveyard of fallen redcoats and their comrades just piles up at Fortress Loftus.

The Argentinians must be licking their lips.

punctured lung sounds pretty hard core. i like seeing the aussies lose, but prefer it to be full strength teams playing as good as they can. and still getting beat.
you gotta feel for deans. backs against the wall, will probably lose next week, and then his job on the line.

Glad to see some compassion amongst the usual Saffa trash, When The going gets tough the tuff get going, Aussies don’t like to lose, Well bounce back as best we can and if not at the very least well blood some new blood and be even stronger next year

@RL-1:
After one win at home against an injury depleted Ozzie and listen to you.
Fact is those two are better than what SA have in the backs in those postions.

@munkiboi-7:
Yeah, shame really.
So mnay injuries for the Ozzies and with show pony trying to put his boot

Go hard or go home.

I actually feel for Dean and the Wobblies. That’s virtually his whole first choice backline gone with Digby also picking up an injury, plus Pocock. Anyone see Barnes pick up his injury? Looks like a shoulder to his chest must have caused it, and he should be out for quite a while.

@David-13:
Ja, tough time for them, but they will be back… thats sport.
Duminy chucked it away agaimst the spinner , stupid “shot”.

Australia absolutely destroyed! Deans on his way out….!

@cane-11: If Cooper can get Deans fired then he might want to stay. If McKenzie does get picked ahead of Nucifora, he’ll owe Quade a starting spot for the next three years.
Curious if the Roosters can fit Cooper under the salary cap, half of which is probably being eaten up by SBW. What i would like to see is Benji walk out on the tigers to play with SBW. The Tigers can take Quade

If Deans goes, he certainly doesn’t care! One of the best coaches there is and won’t struggle to find a high paying job anywhere in the world!
Cooper (aka tosser) will only stay in RU if Mckenzie gets Aussie job otherwise good riddence.

That’s a nasty, nasty injury, Berrick, my best wishes to both you and Adam for a speedy recovery.
And as a South African, my apologies for some of the trailer-trash type talk on this thread; some people have unfortunately got no class…
Get well soon.
