Bulls have their Boks back

The Blue Bulls will have all seven of their Springboks available for selection for the Currie Cup clash against the Golden Lions in Johannesburg.

The Bulls confirmed this in a statement on Monday.

Fullback Zane Kirchner, scrumhalf Francois Hougaard, flyhalf Morne Steyn, flanks Arno Botha and Jacques Potgieter, and locks Juandrè Kruger and Flip van der Merwe have all joined their provincial team-mates in Pretoria. Kirchner (hip) and Potgieter (stomach muscle strain) will only take part at training from Tuesday.

After last weekend’s win over WP, pivot Louis Fouchè (AC joint), loose forward Dewald Potgieter (quad), wing Bjorn Basson (knee) and lock Franco Mostert (head knock) are all nursing injuries, but are expected to recover early this week.

The Bulls will need to beat the Lions in Johannesburg for any chance to avoid the wooden spoon. Mathematically, the Bulls, Free State Cheetahs, Griquas and WP can all finish at the bottom of the log after this weekend’s final round of league fixtures.

The last-placed union in the Premier Division will face off against First Division league winners the EP Kings in home and away promotion-relegation play-offs on 19/20 and 26/27 October.

That is the best bit of news i have heard as far as bulls rugby is concerened, and they should make a big difference to the bulls team, hopefully a bonus point winning difference as we need all 5 points from this game to make sure we do not finish last on the log.
