Goosen’s season is over

Goosen’s season is over

Johan Goosen will be sidelined for the rest of the year as he undergoes surgery on his knee on Tuesday.

The 20-year-old Springbok flyhalf suffered a Grade 3 medial tear in his left knee during the first half of the Rugby Championship Test against the All Blacks last weekend.

Goosen confirmed to keo.co.za that he will go under the knife at 12pm on Tuesday. The final decision was made after doctors and specialists had different opinions on Monday.

It was believed that without surgery, there was still a chance for Goosen to recover in time to feature during the Boks’ end-of-year tour to Europe in November.

However, surgery will allow the player to enjoy a full recovery. He is expected to spend three months on the sidelines.

Goosen has had an unfortunate run with injuries in 2012. He suffered a dislocated shoulder during the Cheetahs’ 36-33 loss to the Highlanders in Bloemfontein in April. He also struggled with a heel niggle during the Rugby Championship.

Goosen’s absence will allow Morne Steyn, Elton Jantjies and Pat Lambie to compete for the Bok No 10 jersey during the November Tests.

The goose needs to get stronger and fitter. Let him get a real decent preseason under his belt.

He isn’t physically ready yet. Seen this happen before with Conrad jantjies, for example.

Well to be honest thought Goosen looked out of his depth on Saturday. Not sure if it was because of his injury worring him. So for now not going to say anything bad about the youngster.

Now really hope we don’t go back and bring Morne back in. We have Jantjies and Lambie that can play flyhalf. We need to move on now from the old players and get on with it.

    @WOLFMAN21-1: Agree.

Meyer I feel brought in Goosen way, way too early. He should have only played him in the eoyt. This could ruin a youngsters career for sure.

  • 4.gonzo: Reply to this comment

This is tragic. Not sure if it’s bad luck or if the young man was rushed in before he’d really had a chance to develop.

  • 5.blik: Reply to this comment

@Puma-3: If he went into the game with an injury I agree, otherwise if he was fit, then I think he was ready to play.

@Transformation-6: You can bet your house on Morne being the starting 10 on the EOYT.

Goosen went into that test injured…..the fact that he hardly trained all of last week attests to that. Meyer seems to be one of those coaches who will happily play a fellow who is injured/coming back from injury/half dead, as long as it’s to his benefit.

Coenie, Duane, Goosen attest to this.

vice-captain Adriaan Strauss said the All Blacks had simply made the most of the chances that came their way.

“Credit to the All Blacks, they were very good today. They lifted their game from Dunedin (when the Boks pushed them close three weeks ago) and capitalised on their opportunities.”

While disappointed that the Boks weren’t able to finish the competition on a high and back up their win in Pretoria with another victory, Strauss said he was pleased with the progress the team have made.

“The forwards have really put up their hands throughout the competition. I’m proud of them. But while there’s still a lot of hard work for us, I’m very positive about the future of this team. There’s a good work ethic and the guys really care for each other. It’s a great environment and all the guys want to do well for South Africa and the Springboks… we’ve all bought into the vision of the coach. We’re definitely growing as a team and it’s going to show in future.”

    Capecrusaders irk Elton

Asked after his team’s 32-16 defeat when he wanted the No 20 on his back to become a No 10, Jantjies said: “Very soon… but I have to put the hard work in. Life is short and I’m enjoying it at the moment.”

The Lions youngster said the atmosphere at FNB Stadium, where more than 80 000 fans watched the All Blacks deliver a masterclass, was fantastic, but he also had a message for all the New Zealand fans. “It reminded me of the Currie Cup final of last year, there were just more people this time. It’s great that so many fans are behind us and support us, but it’s not nice seeing so many All Blacks flags.”

The Bok flyhalf pointed to the team’s inability to take the ball through more than five phases as the reason for their poor second half showing.

Well done Moron Meyer! The Goose was injured, rushed back way too quick, injured again and kept on the field for a good 10mins with a fcuked up knee.

Well done indeed. That’s really the way to screw with a talented youngster’s career.

Perhaps his way to get Stain back in?

These goddamn morons don’t have a bloody clue in the world wtf is staring them in the face just yet..

They should have simply left Pienaar at 10 in 2009 that was their first mistake..and now they dunno whether they’re Arthur or Martha on the merry go round of no f’ng return..

idiots supreme.. the goddamn blind leading the blind into delusional distraction.. no hope saloon thats where Boks have landed up staring their legacy in the mirror under this dunce of an idiot without a goddamn clue left up his washed out sleeve already in year one.. where the fck to next ? If the Shark supporters have their way, he’ll be 5th.

Another ignominious Heineken Mania blunder. Our brightest pivot talent in years Goosen didn’t even train during the week and was not fully fit. It’s not like Mania didn’t have other options with Lambie and Jantjes. The fuckerr truly does want to prove everyone wrong about not wanting Stain in the team subconsiously or not.

  • 26.Spiesisworthless1: Reply to this comment

@nama1-24: Why what? I’m saying Meyer might well have compromised Goosen to spite everyone who was calling for Morne’s removal and to make it easier for him to recall Steyn sooner than later. That, and he doesn’t trust or rate Jantjes.

First thing he gotta do is sit himself down and stare himself in the mirror and ask himself a simple honest question.. which should go like this

Do I have the ability and self belief wherewithal to handle and make decisions that this job requires of me, do I or do I not know wtf is actually going on around my eyes and ears because right now every damn turn I make is turning into a disaster..?

If he is brave and humble enough to realize he does NOT.. then the first step of his redemption is at hand.. then he can actually save himself.. just like White who faced himself in the mirror when his 3N record in 2006-2007 read played 10 won 3 lost 7 and he knew deep down that without a mentor and a more qualified aide at his right hand to lead him through the morass and pitfalls of his own impending doubt and delusion he was sunk to hell and gone forever..

That is how White the skurk turned his fortunes around.. lets see if this dumb fck clown got sufficient humility left in his fck’d up brain to stare himself down and realize he got f’all clue whatsoever and he needs help and needs it BAD.. then he can begin the climb out of the hell hole shelter and start resurrecting his dream of success and not stare the abject impending failure which is looming large in his vision and start crawling out the self made pit he dug for himself right now.. otherwise go down like the proud stiff necked imbecile moron you are and let the wall of delusion wash over your self adulating idealism and ambition.. you will never get up again.. anytime ever.

As good as Goosen is most said he is still very timid and needs to build some body first.

No one argues his skills, but is he ready in mind and body??, morne had his time,

As for Skop shouting for Pienaar to play 10 and should have been left there since the Lions tour?? most Sharks supporters were shocked at pienaar being dropped at 10 becauase of one kick, since then Pienaar has played at 9

Bollocks – White won a 3n in his 1st year in charge, he setup a record of home wins and won a junior rwc and contributed to malletts winning run – thats way too much coincidence, all without eddie jones.

Jones’ reds got mullered 93-zip, the bold were 2nd favourites going into the RwC long before EJ arrived on the scene.

So, how am I wrong then?

I clearly said that imo GM will have Goosen, Morne and Pollard as his top 3 FH with Jantjies at no. 4.

I then said that Shark supporters will have him at 5 meaning that they rate Lambie above him.

So: Goosen, Morne, Pollard, Jantjies (HM order of preference next year imo)

You guys throw in Lambie….. and Jantjies moves down another place.

Why did you say I was wrong then?

White was a dunce deluxe Jones saved his arse no two ways about it.. go ask White himself who saved him.. and if he don’t own up ask any of his side kick fancy boys like John Smit or Fourie du Preez who saved Whites arse in 2007.. if you can’t see it then you blinder than a bat.. White was saved by Jones who turned Boks from a dead beat fckup one dimensional team exactly like you seeing under this arsehole and under Streauli.. no different.. to a pro active setup that read the on field situation and reacted accordingly.

Whie in 2006 and leading up to the WC in 2007 got hammered every which way by NZ and Aus and was facing a disaster till Jones transformed his one dimensional lack of any vision within a few weeks.. it was like day from night and if you are as deluded as the dunce himself about who saved his arse.. then go ask him himself.. if he got any kind of recognition for who pulled him right out the hole he was in then he’ll tell you it was Eddy Jones.. if he’s the self congratulating twat that you so sure he is.. then he’ll tell you he did it all by himself Eddy Jones helped him fokol.

I agree that Goosen is not ready yet and has been vocal about the fact that Jantjies should’ve been given a chance before him.

Lambie really needs to play FH full time and prove that he is the best. We can’t select him on his very good performances at FH in the CC two years ago. That’s not right.

  • 43.fitz1ella: Reply to this comment

the only difference so far between White and Meyer is that White eventually realized he was staring into a hole the size of the Kimberly sinkgat without a hope of getting out alive unless he got in somebody with some proper rugby ingenuity to save his self made delusion from ignominious irrelevancy into some hope of success .. which he was forced to do,.. because if he had gone into the WC without Jones relying on his own distraught nonentity of any rugby ideas and those of his sidekicks Smal and Coetsee he was an absolute goner and he knew it perfectly well ..

That was the only difference from White of 2007 and Meyer now in 2012.. both facing a situation without a clue in the word of where to turn to next..

White turned to Jones who saved his arse and turned his dismal nowhere ship around within a few weeks of his influence..

Who or where is Meyer going to turn to.?. if nobody.. then he might never get out of the spiral because alone I doubt he got what it takes.. same as White didn’t unless he got in help.. same with Meyer.. if he gets somebody with experience to help he can be saved.. if he don’t.. like White would have been without Jones .. then he’s an absolute goner.

White was a great coach and came out smelling like roses, tweedle dee, everyone was calling for his head and he hangvas when all about him was losing theirs, and he triumphed – that’s right he win the entire kit and caboodle and put up his middle finger right in the air

    Inspirational stuff, ne.

  • 46.fitz1ella: Reply to this comment

I take Meyer before I take White.. anytime .. and that is saying something chronic because as bad as Meyer is he is not as bad as White.. and that is real bad…

White without Jones was the biggest fckup on the planet.. and the stupid idiot actually realized it.. he can at least say to himself that this was his ONE stroke of genius that at the 11th hour when he couldn’t see sh’t for the trees that he realized he had to get somebody in with proper international experience to take him by his lonesome distraught little hand and lead him to his promised land.. which is exactly what he did.. as luck would have it Jones was available and White was in need.. and such was his destiny to be led by his forlorn little inept hand and led to his promised land by somebody who knew the ropes sufficiently enough to teach him and lead him out the morass of one dimensional delusion into the light.. Jones saved his arse and by God he is the first to absolutely know it..even if his dumb fck disciples still won’t own up to the very fact of it.
