Goosen’s season is over
9 Oct 2012
Johan Goosen will be sidelined for the rest of the year as he undergoes surgery on his knee on Tuesday.
The 20-year-old Springbok flyhalf suffered a Grade 3 medial tear in his left knee during the first half of the Rugby Championship Test against the All Blacks last weekend.
Goosen confirmed to keo.co.za that he will go under the knife at 12pm on Tuesday. The final decision was made after doctors and specialists had different opinions on Monday.
It was believed that without surgery, there was still a chance for Goosen to recover in time to feature during the Boks’ end-of-year tour to Europe in November.
However, surgery will allow the player to enjoy a full recovery. He is expected to spend three months on the sidelines.
Goosen has had an unfortunate run with injuries in 2012. He suffered a dislocated shoulder during the Cheetahs’ 36-33 loss to the Highlanders in Bloemfontein in April. He also struggled with a heel niggle during the Rugby Championship.
Goosen’s absence will allow Morne Steyn, Elton Jantjies and Pat Lambie to compete for the Bok No 10 jersey during the November Tests.

@Transformation-446: Transie you are so confused I reckon you actually dont know who or whats right or wrong anymore… Hence the multitude of copy and pastes masquerading as “expert” opinion or facts wrapped up in bullshitt…
Tendencies of a Keo dumbfuck deluxe
9 Oct 2012, 17:26 pm
@Transformation-447: That’s why I was so disappointed in PDV, he played Hougaard who was k@K and played “Earl the Pearl”, who shut everyone up, but PDV didn’t have the balls to play Earl again but gave countless chances to Hougaard.
It must be the nature of the job rather than a race thing, I guess.

@Transformation-405: kool aid jou tannie man.
it’s called rationalization. Off course he can make mistakes. Off course he did make mistakes.
It’s only that there is this thought created… by his detractors (unfans) that there is a pro HM group and an anti HM group.
And the pro HM group are calling for clam heads and to give the guy a respectable chance.
We’re looking for what HM is seeing and thinking and generally like everybody trying to make sense and enjoy the ride.
The anti HM group, will firstly bracket any-one in the pro-HM group as being a blue bull, afrikaner sterotype, religeous freak with no mind of hteir own.
After which they would disregard any possible scenarios that preceded selections from the concieved situation, percieved at the time. Ex… drop Morne pick Goossen/ bring in Vermeulen fresh from time-off///////
Mostly, the sterotyping and patronizing of every supporter of the HM is an interesting happening.
Do as everyone else. or have your own opinion. Point is,, if you don’t agree with him,, doesn’t mean HM is wrong, and if you agree with him, he is right.
Only the fools here referred to PDV as a coloured coach. and we know who they are. but its fine to drag in everything else about boerseun meyer and hitler references. i mean really.

@Heavens Game-444:
You’re saying flip-flopping is a school teacher attitude?
With Bissie, Beast, Jannie, Coetzee, Alberts, Fransie, JPP seemingly 1st choice selections if they are not injured …. .
Mvovo, Lambie, Keegan, Kanko,…. fringe players, I wonder what your attitude towards HM will be next year if he selects them all in a match 22?
I’ bet you won’t talk the same way.
Flippity-flop, the HG way.
9 Oct 2012, 17:28 pm
And thats how you do it folks…
Enter this Sandman and voila! a thread well on its way to 500+
I reckon Keo can reinstate those Keo Bucks they stole from me as payment…
Out for now
9 Oct 2012, 17:29 pm
The Bok pecking order at FH right now:
1 Elton
2 Lambie
3 Morne Steyn
See, Morne stays at 3. Now how difficult was that.
9 Oct 2012, 17:30 pm
@XhosaKid-452: listen to robert marawa’s show today he’s going to be trying to unravel the whole heyneke who has potential and who does not mystery!
9 Oct 2012, 17:34 pm
@shooter-453: clamhead, classic typo… calm.. funny.
9 Oct 2012, 17:38 pm
@Transformation-447:
Jip.
Remember, Fourie du Preez already said back then that Hougaard had the “potential” to follow in his footsteps in the Bok jersey.
At the same time Heini Adams was playing very well for the Bulls at SH and Hougie was running out at wing.

@Heavens Game-397: The simple-minded man sees nothing where there is something.
9 Oct 2012, 17:42 pm
@nama1-454: Keegan certainly shouldnt be a fringe selection especially since his main competition at 8 at the moment is a fatfuck spermwhale who quite clearly cant keep up with the pace of the game and certainly lacks the handling skills to be a top flight international…
The destruction of Mvovos confidence in a mere 3 games shouldn’t be a cause of celebration and glee for the likes of you… Talk about hypocrisy.
Kanko should have been picked – he is the pre-eminent no. 8 in SA… The fact that he plays in Japan is an excuse for Meyer similar to his horses for courses excuse for not picking Daniel against the Argies and then dropping him… More so since Meyer somehow could snaffle Flo all the way from Bath.
The fact that these things give you happiness demonstrates beyond doubt that the hypocrisy is not mine….
And all just because they are Sharks… Not from “Traditional Powers”….
Howzat for being a bullshitting “kenner” the Nama way…
9 Oct 2012, 17:47 pm
@Kaizan-460: Tut tut… On the contrary, I definitely saw something… a stream of long winded prose that could be summarised in 4 little words… Much Ado about nothing…
Farken genius if you ask me… why write 4 words when you can write 400 that come to the same damn thing…
Are you a speechwriter?

Am i the only one that noticed that on a technical level the All Blacks were so much more prepared, both in Dunedin and again in the Highveld, that their technical staff had done their homework on how to beat the springboks and practiced these things, while on the other hand, the Bok tech staff had zero answer for any of the questions the All Blacks would ask. We were re-learning lessons that we graduated from during the Jake White era, the main one being the quick throw in from touch, All Blacks have been using that lil gem for years. For me the main difference was even tho the Blacks knew they were the superior outfit, they took preparing for the game more seriously than we did. It is no myth that the All Blacks revere the Boks the most out of any. Also, i would really like someone to explain to me how the Boks have an advantage on the Highveld. My logic tells me that a pack with players averaging at around 7-8 kgs heavier than their counter-part is at a serious disadvantage in lower oxygen conditions. More muscle requires more oxygen. No wonder our 120kg locks plus Willem and Vermeulen were non existent after 30 mins.
9 Oct 2012, 17:48 pm
@Heavens Game-461:
There’s clearly a lack of comprehension/understanding somewhere.
“Keegan certainly shouldnt be a fringe selection”
“Kanko should have been picked”
So Kanko and Keegan should both be selected at 8 at the same time?
9 Oct 2012, 17:50 pm
@Heavens Game-461:
The Bok pecking order at eighthman right now:
1 Vermeulen
2 Keegan
3 Kanko
Now how difficult was that. Get used to it.
Easy peasy lemon squeezie.
9 Oct 2012, 17:51 pm
@BokkeYouBeauties-463: Nama, think about it…
How do they both seem to fit at the Sharks…?
Chrissakes, you are nearly a living proof equivalent on the level of that Philemon72 character of typical Keo dumbfuckery….
9 Oct 2012, 17:53 pm
@Heavens Game-462: You must be one of the ones who was screaming for Goosen to start despite the more measured of us who were saying its too soon to throw him into the deep end.
And now you are doing your best to defend your idiocy by writing total drivel at someone’s post even though he is 100% correct.
Act right before you get smacked right son.
9 Oct 2012, 17:54 pm
@I am a stormer-465:
Not all doom and gloom….
next year it will be
1 Spies
2 Arno Botha
3 Kanko
4 Keegan
5 Vermeulen
9 Oct 2012, 17:56 pm
@I am a stormer-465: No its not actually… Pecking order is:
1. Spermwhale
2. Arno Botha
3. Fuckknows
4. Fuckknows either
5. Kanko
6. Keegan, maybe.
And that is the problem I am actually highlighting… Not that I would expect you to understand since this “traditional Power” blindness is contagious and has resulted in 2 wins out of 6…
Keegan gets time on the pitch = one win and one draw.
Fatfuck climbs on top of the pecking order after struggling to finish one CC game = 3 losses and one win…
Think about it….
9 Oct 2012, 17:57 pm
@I am a stormer-456: it should have been that order for the RC, The Goose should have been our secret weapon for the EOYT, instead, we play him undercooked and got a meager 100 minutes worth for the whole ******* year ..just awesome..
9 Oct 2012, 17:57 pm
Morne will go on the EOYT unless his injured – make peace with it. No ranting or raving on blogs will change it.
As far as Lambie goes, I cannot see Plum put him in any other position this weekend. Let Lambie state his own case (I prefer him at 15).
For my money, Jantjies’ time has arrived as far as investment in EOYT is concerned. Give him the responsibility, see how he goes.
9 Oct 2012, 17:58 pm
@BokkeYouBeauties-463:
Bigger is better. That’s how the Boks were traditionally the best.
I mean, it worked pre-1992. Back then our players were bigger, taller and heavier and we beat them more than they beat us…. so let us just do it the way we know how.
If the opponents have players weighing 105kg’s, we’ll go look for players who weigh 120kg’s.
It just has to work.
9 Oct 2012, 18:01 pm
@poltergeist-467: Nope… wrong. I reckon I was actually the sole voice of reason saying the Golden Goose is not the answer… definitely not yet anyway… and farken definitely not straight after a long term injury…
But then again, what the fark would you know… Clearly as much as Transie… Which aint too much other than a plethora of copy and pastes and as close as dammit is to swearing m.asturbation on a blog about Wayne “computer” Smith…
Here’s some advice: Copy Transie and copy and paste more… You actually might not embarrass yourself that way…
9 Oct 2012, 18:04 pm
Vermeulen is the no.1 eighthman in SA right now. HM, agrees with me.
CJ Stander is the no.2 eighthman in SA right now. HM doesn’t agree with me.
9 Oct 2012, 18:04 pm
@Heavens Game-466: Meant for Nama, this one
9 Oct 2012, 18:04 pm
Shame…….. How will all your bloggers deal with it when HM selects Spies as captain to take us to the next world cup?
9 Oct 2012, 18:05 pm
@Heavens Game-466:
One at 6 and the other at 8.
So, my question stands: Do you want them both to be selected at 8 or what?
Don’t deflect. Just answer the question.
Who are you willing to sacrifice?
9 Oct 2012, 18:06 pm
@phil72-420: What does MS offer outside of his kicking??
PdV wrote in his book that they chose to keep with MS even though they knew the backline would suffer as he sits soo deep in the pocket, because of his goal kicking!
its a known fact so if he’s not kicking well he doesnt need to be close to starting ever!
the other flyhalves at least offer soo much more for the backline than he ever can
9 Oct 2012, 18:06 pm
@I am a stormer-474: And I guarantee coaches with a bit more honesty, sense and competence like Mallet and Plum disagree with you on both counts…
It seems you as blind as the rest of the dumbfucks here and 90% of the sports “journos” in SA…
9 Oct 2012, 18:08 pm
@BokkeYouBeauties-470:
The thing is SA rugby coaches rush players back from injury far too quickly. They need a couple of matches to get confidence that they are over the injury as well as confidence that they are well and truly match fit.
9 Oct 2012, 18:09 pm
@phil72-476:
Man, you will give HG a coronary suggesting that Spies will be ahead of Keegan and Kanko.
He already has a tough time dealing with Vermeulen ahead of them.
9 Oct 2012, 18:10 pm
@Heavens Game: shut up
I am the authority.
9 Oct 2012, 18:11 pm
@papaown-478:
He is a match winner when on song. For us to beat the AB’s we need the best kicker available! Not in your lifetime or mine will we run them to pieces………
9 Oct 2012, 18:13 pm
@Heavens Game-479:
Keegan was given a chance at eighthman and couldn’t rise to the occasion when it mattered.
Kanko was sold to the Japanese much to HM’s disdain.
See, there is a reason for everything.
9 Oct 2012, 18:14 pm
@nama1-477: Simply put… No. Without Kanko, it should be Daniel at 8…
With Kanko, Daniel at 6… However for the Boks, the way Flo is playing, nothing wrong with Daniel on the bench…
Wouldn’t be too much wrong with Flo as Captain either.
Now chew on that before you next excrete your brains in a public space like a blog…
9 Oct 2012, 18:14 pm
@Transformation-435: Yohhhhh, giving HG an as s whoopin of note!
*BOOM*
9 Oct 2012, 18:17 pm
@phil72-483: Thats such a defeatist view,
we dont need to go to the extreme by running them over but as Mallet said, we are soo stuck in our mindset of not playing like them, against them, that we bash it up even when we have a 4 man overlap!
that lineout where we used the maul to good effect to only be stopped, illegally, 3 meters from tryline and we try 4 times to bash it up meanwhile they were playing with 14 men and Dan Carter was also in the maul trying to stop it.
FFS how stupid must we be to not pass the ball out wide with such an opportunity!
its because of the mindset which says we can only beat the Blacks through kicks and not scoring tries!
9 Oct 2012, 18:18 pm
@phil72-468:
You’re teasing me, right?
9 Oct 2012, 18:18 pm
@phil72-476: Believe me, nothing would make me happier than getting back pre 2008 Spies.
9 Oct 2012, 18:18 pm
@I am a stormer-484: Keegan performed adequately given the half chance he got… Given as much chance as the Spermwhale and we wouldn’t be having this conversation now… Because you would be as wrong as you are now…
Money Bill plays for the Japsprats yet the AB’s could organise him for a coupla games… Funny how Meyer couldn’t even try for Kanko it seems… Not to the extent he seemed to try for Flo at Bath…
I dunno, maybe the J.aps scare Meyer…
9 Oct 2012, 18:20 pm
Okay, over and out definitely… The cockroaches can come out of hiding now.
9 Oct 2012, 18:24 pm
Heineken does not know the players, and probably has not been watching any super rugby pre 2012, which is why we’re on this Horses for courses kuck. Plus, the boks are not being coached, they are being undone
9 Oct 2012, 18:25 pm
@BokkeYouBeauties-489:
already written in the History books… Spies our next captain?
9 Oct 2012, 18:27 pm
@Heavens Game-490:
Vermeulen is the main man in HM’s eyes. Mine too. I have always said so.
Keegan will be in the mix when injuries happen and players need rest.
HM was p1ssed off with with the Sharks that they let him go to the ****. Kanko was HM’s second choice at eightman.
At that stage, Vermeuelen was injured, Kanko had signed with Japan. Spies was fortunate to be available and uninjured.
9 Oct 2012, 18:28 pm
@I am a stormer-488:
Yes… would put Vermeulen at no 3 at-least….
9 Oct 2012, 18:29 pm
@I am a stormer-494:
**** = yaps
9 Oct 2012, 18:29 pm
@Heavens Game-485:
Now was that so difficult?
Kanko ahead of “Keegan Daniel-the Christian Cullen of loosies” at 8.
Interesting choice by the “Kenner of kenners,” HG himself.
9 Oct 2012, 18:35 pm
@papaown-487:
That mindset is unfortunately true…….
9 Oct 2012, 18:39 pm
@I am a stormer-494: Like someone said on this site very well the other day, there needs to be balance, especially among the forwards. Right now, we definitely are unbalanced. Alberts i think right now is a real asset. Cover at 4 and an impact 7, any coach would relish having him in their arsenal. But we should be starting a more mobile 7 with an incredible work rate if we’re starting vermeulen, a Schalk Burger if you will, this should amplify Flo’s effectiveness as well. I also think Beast is over played. Also, very importantly, what i really think needs to be reversed, is the cheapening of the Green and Gold Jersey. Meyer has his work cut out for him in that regard.
9 Oct 2012, 18:53 pm
@Atreides-357: Yeah, it’s great to meet these guys off the field, really just normal guys like you & I. Pity you had that experience with some Boks tho, maybe the pressure was just a bit much for them.
I had a nice chat with Hurricane last week on the “SA up to No2″ thread (2/3 October) maybe u’d like to go there to see some of my ’95 RWC memories.
