Goosen’s season is over
9 Oct 2012
Johan Goosen will be sidelined for the rest of the year as he undergoes surgery on his knee on Tuesday.
The 20-year-old Springbok flyhalf suffered a Grade 3 medial tear in his left knee during the first half of the Rugby Championship Test against the All Blacks last weekend.
Goosen confirmed to keo.co.za that he will go under the knife at 12pm on Tuesday. The final decision was made after doctors and specialists had different opinions on Monday.
It was believed that without surgery, there was still a chance for Goosen to recover in time to feature during the Boks’ end-of-year tour to Europe in November.
However, surgery will allow the player to enjoy a full recovery. He is expected to spend three months on the sidelines.
Goosen has had an unfortunate run with injuries in 2012. He suffered a dislocated shoulder during the Cheetahs’ 36-33 loss to the Highlanders in Bloemfontein in April. He also struggled with a heel niggle during the Rugby Championship.
Goosen’s absence will allow Morne Steyn, Elton Jantjies and Pat Lambie to compete for the Bok No 10 jersey during the November Tests.

@NagouGrote-301: Nice post. Interesting. At least one real kenner on this thread other than the plethora of getalong gang “experts”…
But then again, with a nick like that you must be one.

@ryecatcher-396: And the Doc & Beast

@shooter-374:
“the positves are that HM should know better what to do now.”
You mean to say that these 9 test matches were actually used as trials to sort things out? Why the hell did we have all these training camps then?
“The scrum looks pretty decent. options covered in most places.”
About the only true thing you said here except that we are thin on TH but that’s not his fault.
“Backline positions much clearer – who should and who shouldn’t”
Really?
@Puma-386:
“His defence is way better than both Goosen’s and Jantjies.”
A guy like Brendan Venter disagree with you there. According to him Jantjies has the best defense of all the FH in SA.

@phil72-388: Wow!!, what a kicker!!!, what happens when his kicking has gone to shyytte?
9 Oct 2012, 16:41 pm
@shooter-359: these are ALL selection BLUNDERS, you can try to wish them away with lousy excuses but heyneke made them and they betray his fallibility, something you have a hard time admitting!
the Kool-Aid must be lekker.
9 Oct 2012, 16:42 pm
@XhosaKid-399: good points
9 Oct 2012, 16:43 pm
@Puma-352: So Pat was at Flyhalf for the k@k part of the Sharks campaign?, then for the better part Fred was at flyhalf?, so whats the lesson or point?
9 Oct 2012, 16:43 pm
@phil72-325: Farken hell… How is this for a perfect example of a Keo “expert” spouting absolute bullshitt disguised as facts wrapped up in cra.p.

@XhosaKid-404:
Then all hell brakes out and we start loosing all our games……
9 Oct 2012, 16:45 pm
@Transformation-405: berry flavour??
9 Oct 2012, 16:49 pm
@Heavens Game-408:
Feel sorry for the Guy….. His kicking is off and he suddenly the worst thing ever to happen to SA rugby…. The other kickers loose it and we have to fire the kicking coach……
9 Oct 2012, 16:50 pm
@grant10-406: Boks caps are supposed to be earned NOT given, that’s what anti-quota brigade used to tell us, now, the tables are turned, the little darker fellows ( Aplon, JDJ and Jantjies) have EARNED them. Yet Goosen, Taute and Engelbrecht get the free ride in, based on what really?
9 Oct 2012, 16:50 pm
@poppa69-351: Mommas little fullah really doesn’t need to get so excited since actually discovering that he can actually type… Still doesn’t mean little fullah actually knows wtf is happening in the big wide yonder beyond the Sieg Heil Hakamania prevalent among now supremely arrogant AB fans…
Truly excelling in demonstrating unparalleled dumbfuckery…
Living breathing proof that sometimes the worst generalisations may actually be true…
9 Oct 2012, 16:50 pm
@phil72-409:
What then? You still keep on selecting him or do you look somewhere else?
9 Oct 2012, 16:52 pm
@XhosaKid-407: it was no Pat’s fault that the Sharks lost and it was not through Pat’s abilities that the won towards the end of the year, in essence Pat Lambie did nothing for the Sharks this year.
geddit?
9 Oct 2012, 16:52 pm
@phil72-409: So what is it that you are saying?, Morne was responsible for the wins with his dead-eye kicking but not responsible for the losses through his k@k kicking?
9 Oct 2012, 16:53 pm
@XhosaKid-399: Decent post actually… WTF is wrong with you…
Your reasoning is sound, you actually know wtf is happening… Bring back that other Xhosakid… You aint him
9 Oct 2012, 16:55 pm
@Bagel-398: Dont fuckwith Pooms wrt Lambieghini…
Especially if you have your facts wrong…
Playing with fire in a room full of Black and White Dynamite…
BOOM!
9 Oct 2012, 16:55 pm
@XhosaKid-407: To be honest, even if Pat was playing fh at the end we would have played well. It was that we finally got back our injured players later in the season that we started to click and play top class rugby. It was when we got Beast back and Chadwick got dropped that we really started to play great rugby. JPP hitting brilliant form late in the season too. Our centre pairing was not always the same either, once we got Jordaan and Tim starting at centre they too were superb. Ludik only starting playing FB late in the season as well. Sharks playing well in the end was the players finally gelling and getting the game plan right. It was team work not one individual that got us there. Bissie was brilliant as was Keegan and Marcel. The whole team played for each other it was a team effort getting us to the final.
9 Oct 2012, 16:56 pm
Then we play other players and if they miss we fire the kicking coach?
9 Oct 2012, 16:57 pm
@phil72-411: No… I am actually talking about you…
Farken hell… Further proof, readers.
9 Oct 2012, 16:57 pm
@Puma-419: Also it was Kanko! Jeez he was unbelievable at 8. Only started against the Bulls that was our 2nd last game before we made it into the play offs.
9 Oct 2012, 16:58 pm
@Heavens Game-418:
Man I just have to support the youngster here. He takes too much unfair flack.
9 Oct 2012, 16:59 pm
@phil72-420:
Or we blame Spies?
9 Oct 2012, 16:59 pm
Okay I am out of here.
Catch up during the week.
9 Oct 2012, 16:59 pm
@XhosaKid-412: I agree with you….fully.
9 Oct 2012, 16:59 pm
@shooter-360: No apology required… A good post nevertheless…
At least the whole of Keo hasn’t succumbed to Traditional Power and AB pedestal dumbfuckery yet…
Still pockets of Sharkesque wisdom…
9 Oct 2012, 17:00 pm
@nama1-403: when Meyer dropped Keegan and benched Lambie for Goosen & “spermwhale” Vermuelen the tune changed from this:
558.Heavens Game:
4 Jun 2012, 12:30 pm @Stawm(Stawm)-546: Some of us Real SA supporters who put the Boks before petty Provincial rivalries are now singing
We are Gold
Our Blood is Green
We are
We are
Behind the Springbok Team
You can support the Poms since you Stormers fans first hate the Black White en Blou Boks so much…
Okay?
So what are you, a Caped Rose now?
now the tune is “Fark the Traditional North & South rivalry”
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA so much for “putting Boks before petty provincialism”
farking, Zim-refugee hypocrite
9 Oct 2012, 17:00 pm
@XhosaKid-412:
Potential…the new buzz word around.
If you have the “potential” to become good and you are rightly connected (on all fronts) you are home free.
Fransie had the “potential” to become a great at inside center. Now that some have seen that he did not deliver, he has the “potential” to become a great wearing no. 15.
Hougaard has the “potential” to become a great, no matter where you play him as long as he gets selected.
Lambie/Goosen have the “potential” to become great FH, so they should be selected even if a guy like Jantjies proved himself as better than them at this stage.
Taute has the “potential” to become a great at 15 so let us select him at 13 in the mean time to give him exposure. JdJ must abide his time.
Etc, etc…
9 Oct 2012, 17:01 pm
@Puma-419: Cool, I get you. So whether Pat would or wouldn’t have enhanced Sharks performance at flyhalf is hypothetical?.
9 Oct 2012, 17:01 pm
@XhosaKid-412: Sheezus… You worrying me… Another bit of truth thats going to be hard to swallow for some fools here… and I agree 100%…
9 Oct 2012, 17:02 pm
@XhosaKid-412: they are meyer’s PET favourites, the new “quotas”!
9 Oct 2012, 17:02 pm
@phil72-424: I dont have the fix it answers….
But I know what history shows us….
and it shows us that with Spies and M Steyn we dont win [ check 2010 and 2011 ]….
We have hit a pothole……but going back to the proven losers not the answer….
9 Oct 2012, 17:05 pm
@XhosaKid-430: No actually what I was trying to say it was not Freddy that got us there, it was the whole team. So yes, even if Pat played it was the team not one individual as some think here.
Cheers bud out of here now.
@nama1-429: Nama you are wrong bud. If Fransie was playing on Saturday Smith and Nonu would not have been coming through our centre channel at ease. Fransie was a huge loss. We missed his defence there on Saturday. JdV was not great at all. Taute was really terrible. Then he has been thrown in to the wolfs by Meyer. Meyer should have eased Taute in as well. With Fransie out injured JdJ should have started.
Cheers nama, out of here now.
9 Oct 2012, 17:05 pm
579.Heavens Game:
4 Jun 2012, 12:37 pm So Munster Reject Donkey De Villiers is now Captain of the Boks… A quota player if ever there was one…
Fark, now I am worried… the last time the Boks had a Captain from Brokebackville, Krige, we didnt do too well against England…
At least there’s enough Blue Black and White players to carry Donkey… Thank goodness this is only temporary…
This means Spies possibly not starting… Maybe Daniel is the new Bok 8 after all… Happy Days!
the s.hit hit the fan when Daniel was dropped
77.Heavens Game:
30 Aug 2012, 09:13 am AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGH!
- The Daniel drop… This after a promise made to a player that “if we were playing Australia then Keegan would be playing”…. Now the Boks play Australia and who AINT playing? 50 odd minutes as a starting player, for a side that actually managed to win against Argentina and Keegan gets rewarded with a DCM! HUH? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!! Fuckthis for a big ballofshit!
9 Oct 2012, 17:06 pm
@grant10-433:
Rather play the current losers then?
9 Oct 2012, 17:08 pm
@nama1-429: exactly, Pottie had “potential” too that’s why Keegan was dropped
9 Oct 2012, 17:09 pm
@Transformation-428:
He’ll keep banging that drum because he probably feels guilty for his “unreserved” loyalty to HM which we now know was not so unreserved in the 1st place.
His loyalty is determined by how many Shark players are in the team.
What are the odds that he will again become a Meyer loyalist if there are 10 Sharkies in the team next year?
9 Oct 2012, 17:11 pm
@Heavens Game-417: I always post like this, its just that we are diametrical opposed most of the time WP/Sharks feud
!!!
9 Oct 2012, 17:11 pm
@phil72-436: Yes….at least they take it flat and have potential….
after a load of test matches we have proof that M Steyn is not the answer….
I would give Elton and or Lambie a decent run at 10 to see what they can deliver….
M Steyn , no matter how you slice and dice it, is a proven big match loser for over 2 years now….
Time for us to persevere with the youth policy, not set up Laager with the first sign of the opposition fighting back…..
9 Oct 2012, 17:13 pm
@Transformation-435: Maybe its just me, but I dont get whats so wrong with those posts…
Try as you might Transie but you know I end up reducing you to nothing more than a squealing “Rhodesian” sqwawker after repeatedly exposing your Sharksworld “expertism” for the copy and post non-original bullshitt it always is…
9 Oct 2012, 17:14 pm
@Puma-434:
Cheers Puma.
9 Oct 2012, 17:16 pm
@nama1-429: can’t wait for Arno Botha to start on the end of year tour so that he can realise his “potential” too
9 Oct 2012, 17:19 pm
@nama1-438: No Nama… I dont have that typical schoolteacher attitude…
I call it as I see it, and the fact that the Sharks have more talented players than other Provinces is purely incidental to me being a Banana Boy.
9 Oct 2012, 17:19 pm
@Transformation-443:
Don’t forget Pollard and Serfontein.
Then there is PSDT as well.
Lots of great “potential” coming thorough.
:lol;
9 Oct 2012, 17:20 pm
@Heavens Game-441: a farking PROVINCIALISTIC loudmouth hypocrite is what you are!
tendencies of a Chimurenga escapee
9 Oct 2012, 17:23 pm
@nama1-445: can you recall that it was PdV who played Hougaard against Saracens to see his “potential”, where hougaard bombed spectacularly with his boxkicks charged down TWICE by mouritz botha?
9 Oct 2012, 17:23 pm
@nama1-445: And we have people who are expecting respect for the Bok jersey or tradition?
9 Oct 2012, 17:24 pm
I wonder if it isn’t to soon to post again, after i was one of the fools who actually thought we would win Saturday. In hindsight, it was borderline insulting to even suggest we could win with a team of Boks, that aren’t really Boks yet (thats the only way i can explain it). @Xhosa kid-412 Brilliant mate, in fact alota good posts on page 400-450
