Pat Lambie will start at flyhalf for the Sharks in their Currie Cup clash against Griquas in Durban this weekend.

Lambie featured among the reserves throughout the Springboks’ Rugby Championship campaign, and has only played fullback when used off the wood by Heyneke Meyer.

Sharks head coach John Plumtree has decided to pick the 21-year-old at flyhalf for the game at Kings Park.

There’s only one other change to the starting line-up as Kyle Cooper replaces the injured Pieter Dixon.

Plumtree has also named four of his other returning Springboks (hooker Craig Burden, prop Jannie du Plessis, flank Marcell Coetzee and wing Lwazi Mvovo) on the bench.

Sharks – 15 Louis Ludik, 14 Odwa Ndungane, 13 Paul Jordaan, 12 Tim Whitehead, 11 JP Pietersen, 10 Pat Lambie, 9 Cobus Reinach, 8 Keegan Daniel (c), 7 Jean Deysel, 6 Jacques Botes, 5 Anton Bresler, 4 Jandre Marais, 3 Wiehahn Herbst, 2 Kyle Cooper, 1 Dale Chadwick.
Subs: 16 Craig Burden, 17 Jannie du Plessis, 18 Peet Marais, 19 Marcell Coetzee, 20 Charl McLeod, 21 Meyer Bosman, 22 Lwazi Mvovo.

    @rangerman-49: Yes Meyer’s treatment of Lambie and Mvovo was disgraceful. Hope both have a great game tomorrow night. Both now might be rusty. but that is to be expected.

    For sure can’t wait to see Fransie, Jordaan and also Lambie with Reinach there. Really looking forward to Super Rugby next year after the junk rugby our Boks dished up.

    Our youngsters need a bit of time to mature and find their feet, even the likes of Lambie. Rhule is one of the youngsters that needs to be managed properly by the Cheetahs and by whoever he eventually signs for (who in their right mind would stay in Bloem if that had the chance to stay and play in Durbs or CT? Am I right or am I right?). The future of SA rugby looks good but (and there always is a but let’s hope that the money-hungry administrators manage these players properly and take note from the All Blacks as how to manage a superstar who’s presence and physical condition are vital to a winning formula.

    @Puma-51: Ah the prospect of seeing this young (but also experienced) back line on show next year is mouthwatering! Thumbs-up to John Plumtree for his player management and for the depth that he has created in the Sharks squad! Happy days!

    Hougaard only makes the bench @ the Bulls and our wise Bok coach starts him on the wing while there are capable players in the team. Very interesting.

    sharks have had a squad strong enough to win the superrugby for quite some time already.
    Personally, their brand and approach to rugby leaves them short when they need to grind out a win someway/somehow.
    Solve that and they solve the puzzle.
