Pocock ponders over knee struggles

Wallabies skipper David Pocock might miss the Wallabies’ end-of-year tour to give his knee a full recovery.

Pocock has been sidelined since August after suffering a Grade 2 tear in his right knee. The loose forward is currently busy with his rehabilitation and is expected to be fit for the latter part of the tour to Europe in November.

However, Pocock is thinking about missing the trip to the northern hemisphere as he wants to gain full match fitness ahead of the 2013 Super Rugby campaign.

‘The knee is improving, now it’s just about pushing it every week and seeing how it reacts,’ Pocock told the Canberra Times. ‘The very best case scenario would be playing towards the end of the spring tour but that’s maybe not that realistic.

‘Staying here to get fit is definitely part of the thinking, you never want to come back too early. I want to make sure if I do come back and play I’m ready to go.

‘We’ve seen James O’Connor with his hamstring and that’s been 20 weeks or so, I want to make sure the knee is all right.’

If Pocock does miss the Wallabies’ tour, it’ll be a big blow to head coach Robbie Deans, who’s already without seniors James Horwill and Will Genia.

Deans will name his 30-man touring squad next week.

Flag the EOYT David, get that rehab period done and dusted first.

The Wallabies will win or lose irrespective of your involvement.

Stay rather Pocock. You are still young and have many years left to play. Rather preserve yourself now than risk being injured.

Keo.co.za has always promoted uncensored views, but has never tolerated racist or crass outbursts. Come on guys and girls. If you can't moderate yourselves or each other then I am going to be forced to regulate the posts and enforce a registration process for comments. The choice is yours.
