Late blow for Wallabies
18 Oct 2012
Tighthead prop Ben Alexander has been forced to withdraw from Saturday’s Test against the All Blacks because of a wrist injury.
Alexander will be replaced by James Slipper in the Wallabies’ starting side. This in turn sees Sekope Kepu elevated to the bench, where he will fill the void left by Slipper.
The Wallabies have already been forced to change their match 22 this week, with James Hansen coming in to replace Saia Fainga’a. Fainga’a was ruled out with a broken hand.
Wallabies (revised) – 15 Mike Harris, 14 Nick Cummins, 13 Ben Tapuai, 12 Pat McCabe, 11 Adam Ashley-Cooper, 10 Kurtley Beale, 9 Nick Phipps, 8 Wycliff Palu, 7 Michael Hooper, 6 Scott Higginbotham, 5 Nathan Sharpe (c), 4 Sitaleki Timani, 3 James Slipper, 2 Tatafu Polota Nau, 1 Benn Robinson
Substitutes: 16 James Hanson, 17 Sekope Kepu, 18 Kane Douglas, 19 Dave Dennis, 20 Liam Gill, 21 Brett Sheehan, 22 Drew Mitchell

Alexander and the Aussie first choice front row have been ok this year. No depth tho, this will hut them (although the scrum hasn’t been so important in the RC this year for some reason).

In these 10 positions the Wallabies do not have their first choice players…however, they are building long overdue depth for the future. Furthermore…the available group have been changing from week to week during the RChampionship, no consistent line-up for the whole 2012 season. ABs beware 2013 !

Transformation….no consistent line-up for the whole of 2012, only Sharpe of Saturdays team was in all 10 tests so far this year, so the ‘second team’ was not even playing together throughout the year. 2012 does not give a fair reflection of the Wallabies at all. It’s just impossible to say whether the ABs would have easily won with the first line-up Wallabies playing week in and week out. Logic !
I still say they are building long overdue depth…ABs watch out 2013 !
Hope for your sake there is no upset this weekend, from a disrupted 2nd or 3rd team.
