Cheetahs crush Kings
19 Oct 2012
GARETH DUNCAN watched the Free State Cheetahs cruise to a 53-14 win over the EP Kings in Bloemfontein.
Despite the loss of 13 first-choice players to injury, Free State hammered the First Division champions in the first leg of the promotion-relegation play-offs. The hosts grabbed four tries on the each side of half-time to secure the big win.
Inside centre Andries Strauss, who will join the Kings next season, grabbed a brace, while tighthead prop Ross Geldenhuys, wing Nico Scheepers, No 8 Phillip van der Walt, hooker Adriaan Strauss and wing Rayno Benjamin crossed the chalk. Referee Jonathan Kaplan also awarded Free State a penalty try at the death.
The EP Kings were behind 24-0 at the break, and scored two consolation tries during the second stanza via flank Devin Oosthuizen and inside centre Shane Gates.
The second leg will be played in PE next weekend, but it’s highly unlikely that the Kings will be able to come back from this massive deficit. The Cheetahs landed a knockout blow in the first round.

The problem is he’ll need another team to play in the VC and 1st divsion as well as these guys are not available, they will be behind the posts in the S15

Lets see how it goes next week in PE. The Kimgs will be better-they would have learnt from tonight’s game- it will obviously take them a while to get used to the faster pace of rugby at a higher level.
19 Oct 2012, 22:36 pm

@victoriabok-53: Dunno wtf they going to do between now and February but they better get down on hands and knees and start praying for some kind of miracle because that the only thing that is going to give them any chance of credibility.. which from here don’t look like its going to come knocking.. perhaps the angel of mercy will take them under her wings.

19 Oct 2012, 22:43 pm
Congrats Cheetahs, seems there was not much to stress about. That Rhul (sp) chappie can move, wow.
But have to say I don’t think the Cheetahs were that flash, they looked unfit and sluggish and always seemed very slow to the breakdown to me, What does this say about the Kings the ? Sorry but they are not going to be contenders, it was like men against boys against an average Cheetahs side.
19 Oct 2012, 22:43 pm
@victoriabok-60: its going to be a painful 12 months.. unless somebody out there got some magic ointment for all the bruised bodies and ego’s its gonna look like WW 111
19 Oct 2012, 22:45 pm

Lazy *******, talk big game, does fkall.
19 Oct 2012, 22:48 pm
@Treehugger-62:
Good point…. Cheetahs are also terrible…. samwe as the Lions.
SA should only have 3 superrugby teams….. the rest will always just make up the numbers, thats just how it is.
19 Oct 2012, 22:56 pm
the stupid prick is older than me that is how confused he is.. he hasn’t come to any conclusion he’s still waffling around his fck’d up feeble mind same as you and her and all the other befuddled idiots that come looking for f’ng answers there.. you stupid goddamn morons actually think you can talk and blog your f’ng way to understanding reality.. are you all that f’ng insane dumb.? and you reckon I belong in groendakkies .. hows that for an irony the goddamn befuddled self enlightened goons of the world calling everyone else insane… goddamn morons.. stupidity ain’t even the word for it.

Fact is as confused as she might be she is far closer to sincerity than all you goddamn creeps there combined.
19 Oct 2012, 22:58 pm
@Rob…I don’t think Cheetahs or Lions are terrible, both those teams have snotted the Sharks on numerous occasions.
I know Cheetahs have a few of their big plAyers missing, but they still some how looked sluggish, maybe I was just expecting more.
As for the Lions, ohlala , carefull you guys are playing them tomorrow and they like playing Currie Cup.
19 Oct 2012, 22:59 pm
@ahasaid theclown-66: you have some issues.

19 Oct 2012, 23:19 pm
First half of next year is gonna be tough but they will cruise to the promotion/relegation match next year and maybe even earn promotion rather than being given it. That has to be their one goal next year and it’s achievable. Not sure if that achieves transformation or not but certainly helps develop EP rugby.
Might also kill Griquas at the same time but that’s a whole other topic
19 Oct 2012, 23:31 pm
@Treehugger-67:
I was referring to superrugby- the lions ended last 5x and second last 4x during last 10 years- Cheetahs were a bit better but also pretty pathetic.
Anyway, it’s history, and not really important… good luck to your team tomorrow, i think they going to need it.
19 Oct 2012, 23:36 pm
What a performance by the Kinks with their smash hit “La-la”:
I’m not the world’s most gullible man
But when I glanced at the Kings, just two subs had a tan
They’re in La-la… la-la-la-la-lalaland
I’m not dumb but I can’t understand
Why they talk like New Zealand but play like Japan
They’re in La-la… la-la-la-la-lalaland
19 Oct 2012, 23:39 pm
@ahasaid theclown-70:
I dont think anybody is really expecting to find answers to reality on the internet…specially not on keo.
I am listening to the Ben Harper album called “White lies for dark times” at the moment- now there is some answers to be found.
19 Oct 2012, 23:41 pm
@katman-73:
Lol ….. did you see Ray Davies performing at the Olympics closing ceremony? Lola seemed to have farked him up badly, he looked terrible.
19 Oct 2012, 23:43 pm
@Robzim-75: No, I sat through about an hour before I got bored. I got as far as the big hospital beds. Looks like I missed the good stuff.
19 Oct 2012, 23:43 pm
@ahasaid theclown-70: shhhhh.
you sound like a mad person.
19 Oct 2012, 23:46 pm
@rangerman-77: No, he just lives life to the full. Such an effervescence. Such a zest. Just wow.
19 Oct 2012, 23:48 pm
@katman-76:
Yeah, they left the best for last.The Who (Townsened and Daltrey) played right at the end – still extremely good after all the years.
19 Oct 2012, 23:50 pm
@katman-78: truly a bundle of fluffy love.
19 Oct 2012, 23:50 pm
@Robzim-75:
> Lola seemed to have farked him up badly
Up the what…
19 Oct 2012, 23:52 pm
Hahaha, well done Cheetahs…….. These undeserving wannabes should disband before s15 starts. Can you imagine what s15 scores will be like?
19 Oct 2012, 23:53 pm
@Robzim-79: Not The Who without that crazy fcker, Keith Moon.
19 Oct 2012, 23:54 pm
@rangerman-80: Ja, you want to grap him round the neck and just ruffle his hair.
19 Oct 2012, 23:54 pm
@Robzim-79:
Saw them perform the halftime concert of Superbowl XLIV 2010
Still very good, loved when they did all the CSi themes at the end
19 Oct 2012, 23:57 pm
@victoriabok-81:
@katman-83:
Zak Starsky (Ringo’s son) sat in for him and tried his best but could obviously not even get close to the genius of that crazy fcker.
19 Oct 2012, 23:59 pm
@Robzim-86: I love drumming and I love beautiful drum kits. And I get genuinely sad when I see old vids in which he wrecks his kit. No amount of “raw rock n roll” can make that right.
20 Oct 2012, 00:01 am
@victoriabok-85:
You lucky to have seen them, arguably the best live rock act ever during their heyday with Moon and Enwhistle still around.
20 Oct 2012, 00:02 am
@katman-84:
Whose hair, Lola’s?
20 Oct 2012, 00:04 am
@victoriabok-89: Old Skoppie. That crazy old muthafukker.
20 Oct 2012, 00:06 am
@katman-87:
He was one crazy dude- I have a old dvd of him passing out while they were playing- apparently he injected himself with a double dose of horse tranquiliser before the gig – Nirvana etc were like sunday school choir boys in comparison.
20 Oct 2012, 00:06 am
@katman-87:
Maybe you can answer me, why do the big bands’ drums sound so “big” for a lack of another word?
Do they put mikes in the drums?
I know the bigger bands have huge drum sets, but still a drum is a drum, there are just more of them and a drummer can’t play them all at once?
20 Oct 2012, 00:09 am
@katman-90:
He’ll moer you
20 Oct 2012, 00:11 am
@victoriabok-92: How they sound on a recording is mostly down to the engineering. They’re all miced, and for studio albums they go through any amount of filters. But drum size, type of head and tuning also make a big difference. John Bonham used to play a kit with a 26″ bass drum, a 15″ mounted tom and 18″ and 20″ floor toms. Those are seriously big canons, and his sound was big.
20 Oct 2012, 00:12 am
@victoriabok-93: He’s actually a big old floppy eared labradoodle at heart.
20 Oct 2012, 00:13 am
@katman-94:
So like speakers, the bigger the diameter the bigger the sound?
20 Oct 2012, 00:13 am
@katman-95:
Have you met him?
20 Oct 2012, 00:19 am
Waahhahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahahahaaaaaaaaa……Kings on the rise eh Keo team???? F*ck SARU and their filthy corrupt tendencies. Bring on the embarrassment, all SANZAR leverage GONE!!! Wwwahahahahahahahahahaaaa. What do you say Transie you do*s??
20 Oct 2012, 00:21 am
@victoriabok-96: This is potentially a VERY long topic. But basically, yes. And by big, I mean the diameter of the drum shell. Most standard rock kits have a 22″ bass drum and toms ranging from about 12″ to 16″. Jazz kits are often smaller, with 16″ or 18″ bass drums. The depth of the shell doesn’t affect the pitch, but it does affect the response – deeper shells have a more booming sound and shallower drums have a shorter, sharper tone. Then there is the coice between thick, thin, single-ply, double-ply, coated, uncoated etc drum heads. Sticks can vary a lot in terms of size, weight, tip shape etc. And another thing to consider is the wood type used in shell construction, as well as the shell construction type – mostly this is plies of the chosen wood laminated together but shells can also be constructed with staves (like a barrel) or even turned from solid pieces of timber.

Anyone seen our keo “friend” transformation yet?
I’m waiting for him to appear so I can dish it to him. I am glad he has finally hopped off the fence and pinned his colours to the mast. I think he is in for a bumpy ride.
For tomorrow’s semis, it’s the Sharks and the Lions all the way.
