Sharks wait on Bok prop

The Sharks will know on Thursday whether Springbok tighthead Jannie du Plessis is available to play in Saturday’s Currie Cup final.

Du Plessis clashed heads with team-mate Anton Bresler in last week’s semi-final at Kings Park. Following this blow, Du Plessis left the field and played no further part in the contest.

While initial reports suggested that the Sharks sustained no serious injuries from that semi-final, it’s believed that the decision on Du Plessis’s availability will only be made on Thursday. If the Bok prop is not cleared, Wiehahn Herbst is likely to start in his place.

We will be fine if he can’t play. It’s not as if Wp have a good frontrow.
