Nell to lead Kings
24 Oct 2012
Darron Nell will captain the Eastern Province Kings in the second leg of their promotion/relegation battle with the Cheetahs on Friday.
Free State all but secured their spot in the Currie Cup Premier Division when they whipped the Kings 53-14 in Bloemfontein last week. The Kings will need to smash the Cheetahs by a massive margin in Port Elizabeth if they are going to move up to the top tier.
They welcome back Nell this week, who will also assume the captaincy due to Wayne Stevens’s injury. Schalk Ferreira has also recovered from his ailment and will start at loosehead in place of Jaco Engels. Flank Conraad Britz is brought into the starting back row.
Meanwhile, coach Matt Sexton has made several changes to the backline that started in Bloemfontein.
George Whitehead is brought in at No 10, Tiger Mangweni is favoured at inside centre and Paul Perez joins Mangweni in midfield. Michael Killian replaces the injured SP Marais at fullback while Siviwe Soyizwapi and Norman Nelson will start on the wings.
EP Kings – 15 Michael Killian, 14 Norman Nelson, 13 Paul Perez, 12 Tiger Mangweni, 11 Siviwe Soyizwapi, 10 George Whitehead, 9 Falie Oelschig, 8 Devin Oosthuizen, 7 Wimpie van der Walt, 6 Conraad Britz, 5 Rynier Bernardo, 4 Darron Nell (c), 3 Andre Schlechter, 2 Hannes Franklin, 1 Schalk Ferreira.
Replacements: 16 Frank Herne, 17 Lizo Gqoboka, 18 David Bullbring, 19 Mpho Mbiyozo, 20 Scott Mathie, 21 Wesley Dunlop, 22 Scott van Breda.

@Transformation-1: Transie , you better get use to losing with 50 points, where’s all the black, I see it only on the jerseys.

Ah yes. Bring in more ex-Cheetahs.

Well, I certainly won’t be watching.
My boycott of Eastern Cape Rugby began last Friday and will continue until this unsavoury state of affairs is sorted out.
I reserve the right to watch them when my team plays them but even that is not guarranteed.

nevermind we hate the brumbies too…. specially that depro crybaby rathbone traitor … he’s making a comeback isn’t he? when the Kings beat them, they should take all razors away from Clyde … ****, but then there is Van Staadens bridge …

The Mandela Bay stadium will be rocking. Same could not be said of Ellis Park and Kings park last week. Had finals been in Eastern Province, Newlands or Loftus there would have been more crowds. Newlands would be full house. Most dedicated suppoet in the country.

@Rhys7-9: Wait untill they realise their team has won nothing in last 10 years, then they will stay away.

@suffer_guy-8: don’t worry about BrumbiesBoy, he is a fairweather fan, ask him why he started supporting the Brumbies and not Reds…

Let us see:
2010 – PE – Kings 9-13 Cheetahs
2011 – PE – Kings 17-45 Cheetahs
2012 – PE – Kings 20-33 Cheetahs
2012 – Bloem: Cheetahs 53-14 Kings
I don’t think you should expect anything to change anytime soon.

@capebull-10: is that like you bulls supporters did when you were losing ALL your games in Super rugby? hahahaha
24 Oct 2012, 15:14 pm
Ha ha, someone got a stern talking to, it seems. Three black players in the starting 15 plus two on the bench, as opposed to last week’s zero and two. Fikile was so upset he took it out on poor JZ.
All the Kings’ carthorse and all the Kings’ journeymen
will barely hit double figures again

@Transformation-11: Fairweather fan?
Please allow me, my esteemed friend, to enlighten you accordingly.
When you have finished your cutting & pasting for the day go back to the thread “SA up to No 2″ (1 October) and read my posts to Hurricane there. It’s not a very big one (53-odd posts the last time I checked).
Then feel free to cut & paste as much of it back here as you wish and we can then talk about fairweather fans.
And finally, why did I choose the Brumbies over the Reds?
Easy.
The Reds suck.
Just like the Kings!

@Transformation-13: Transie , exactly , when the Bulls did not win anything their supporters stayed away immediatly
After 10 years of not winning anything people are still going to Newlands , I am sure once they realise their team has not won anything they will stay away also.

@BrumbiesBoy-15: a saffa cherry-picking a successful Aus team to make himself feel better? pffftt
24 Oct 2012, 15:57 pm
best of luck to the kings next year in SR, great to have another coastal team
all the muppets crying for Griquas to be added ahead of the kings make me laugh.
having a team so close to bloem where another SR team resides makes about as much sense as have a team in jozi and one in pretoria .. oh wait lol
why not just have two in cape town while we’re at it, you know one at newland and another at boland park lol, we wouldnt have a problem filling either stadium even on the same weekend(sarcasm)

@Transformation-18: Wrong again, I’ve been a “fairweather fan” of theirs since around ’97, long before they won anything. In fact my Brumbies jersey is the original one with “Milk” on it.
And take note, they were built from scratch, unlike a certain Eastern Cape Union who has won diddley-squat in over 100 years of trying.
Pffffffffffft

@BrumbiesBoy-20: ’97 yeah
