Habana concern for Boks
27 Oct 2012
Bryan Habana will be an injury concern for the Springboks ahead of their end-of-year tour to Europe in November.
The wing suffered a knee injury during the early stages of WP’s 25-18 win over the Sharks in the Currie Cup final at Kings Park.
He hurt himself while making a vital cover tackle on opposite number JP Pietersen during the seventh minute of the match. Habana was then substituted in the 14th minute.
Province head coach Allister Coetzee said the extent of the knee injury will only be known over the next couple of days.
‘Bryan has damaged his ACL joint,’ Coetzee told keo.co.za. ‘I’m not sure if he’ll miss the end-of-year tour, but I was told that if there was a match next weekend, he wouldn’t have been available for selection.
‘Bryan will have to go for scans, then we’ll know the full story.’
Habana’s absence would be a big blow for the Boks. He’s been in superb form on the Test scene all season and was the top try-scorer in the Rugby Championship, crossing the chalk on seven occasions.
Heyneke Meyer will announce his end-of-year tour squad on Sunday.

@RainbowBanana-1: good call; Mvovo will probably get in though.

Not Rhule…Heineken will use Mullet, Jp and Basson (if fit). Rhule needs to prove himself at the next level before being thrown in the deep end.

Habanero could do with a rest. Well done on a great season as you silenced the Haters.
