Stormers celebrate Bok boost
30 Oct 2012
Allister Coetzee says he’s excited to have on-loan Springbok and Lions duo Elton Jantjies and Jaco Taute in his Stormers squad next year.
Taute confirmed his move to keo.co.za last Wednesday, while WPRU president Thelo Wakefield also told this site that he approved Jantjies’ deal late last week.
Coetzee believes the two players will make telling contributions next season.
‘We’re very excited about having Elton and Jaco in Cape Town for next year’s Super Rugby tournament,’ said Coetzee. ‘They’re both quality players and we look forward to getting them involved here – both on and off the field – and seeing how they fit into the Stormers culture.’
Jantjies is expected to get a run in the starting line-up during the opening rounds of Super Rugby, considering the departure of WP’s Currie Cup-winning flyhalf Demetri Catrakilis to the Southern Kings and the late arrival of Peter Grant from Japan in February.
While Taute is able to play at centre and fullback, he’s likely to compete for the No 15 jersey as the Stormers already have Jean de Villiers, Juan de Jongh, Marcel Brache and JP du Plessis in their midfield department. Damian de Allende is also considered to be in the mix after his impressive performance at inside centre in the Currie Cup final.
Taute has the option of extending his stay in Cape Town after the Super Rugby season as his contract with the Lions expires next year.
The Stormers have also signed utility forward Michael Rhodes (who can play lock or flank) and Springbok versatile prop Pat Cilliers from the Lions on permanent deals.

Hope Taute gets plenty of gametime at fullback – its definitely his best position.
30 Oct 2012, 07:56 am
Now the Stormers just need some decent depth in key positions ie tight five.
30 Oct 2012, 08:24 am
Very good moves for the Stormers.
30 Oct 2012, 08:35 am
Oh well… another WP / Stormers thread
What more is there to say and brag about? I suppose later today there will be something about Coetzee bumping his toe in the shower this morning, but the joy of winning the CC will ensure that he makes it through the day…
30 Oct 2012, 08:37 am
@Finfan-4: Fair enough, should we move on to b!tching about Morne being includd in the EOYT squad?
30 Oct 2012, 08:39 am
@Braders-2: Tight 5 is actually great, we at props:
Brok and Malherbe at TH
Liebenberg, Fourie and Scarra at Hooker
Kitshoff, Pat and Carstens at LH (and some at TH cover too)
Locks:
Eben, Elstadt, Rhodes, Bekker, Steenkamp
Loose forwards:
Burger, Vermeulen, Elstadt, Kolisi, Carr, Armand, Rhodes, Fourie
I’ve mentioned some players more than once due to their versatility, which is even better.
I’ve probably left some players out but the ones above all have top level experience, not youngsters with promise coming through.
For me the key is going to be who they select at 9 & 10 which to a large extent determines the game plan. Duvenhage and grant would be the worst scenario for me, Groom and Jantjies the best.
Injuries will happen, we saw that this year, so the depth of squad is very encouraging.
And, after Saturdays hard hitting performance against the sharks, led by the forwards, the words “light 5″ do not belong in the same context as WP.
30 Oct 2012, 08:49 am
@stormersboy-6: Agree re 9 and 10.
Groom should develop his game and work hard on getting his pass as snappy as possible, our backline looks much better with him there than Duvenhage. I am not convinced on Schreuder (sp?) either.
Hope Elton settles early and keeps Grant on the bench who is a handy sub to cover 10 and 12.
30 Oct 2012, 08:49 am
wow much more excited ‘re cilliers than the other signings. somehow I missed that one
30 Oct 2012, 08:53 am
@stormersboy-6: Isn’t Armand leaving?
30 Oct 2012, 08:57 am
@sparticus-8: Next year, more than 75% of the Stormers team will be signings from other provinces. Exciting times indeed. “If you can’t beat them, recruit them.”
30 Oct 2012, 09:01 am
@Finfan-10: Who can’t we beat exactly?
Also, you still bitter bro?
30 Oct 2012, 09:01 am
@stormersboy-6: Agree with 100% except the selection of Groom. I have not been impressed by him. He got caught a few times behind the ruck and his kicking was poor. I will rather play Schreuder there. AC will go with Dewaldt though, in that case i will have Schreuder on the bench instead of Groom.
30 Oct 2012, 09:04 am
WP Ticker tape parade today in Cape Town. Start 12:45.
30 Oct 2012, 09:05 am
Stormers pulling a “sharks” on themselves … about 80% of the team from other places in SA… then they moan about the Kings? wtf?
Sharks = Grey Bloem Old Boys
30 Oct 2012, 09:05 am
@Finfan-4: There will probably be an article, with photos, of the parade (I kid you not) of the Currie Cup through central Cape Town later this morning.
30 Oct 2012, 09:06 am

30 Oct 2012, 09:09 am
@suffer_guy-14: Sorry what?
Of the team that beat the Sharks this weekend only the following players bought from other unions.
Starting XV:
Van der Heever, Vermeulen
Subs:
Carstens, Sinclair
I might be wrong, but 4 out of 22 is in no way 80%!
Try again slick!
30 Oct 2012, 09:12 am
@SuperStirrer-15: Just highlights the support Stormers/ WP enjoy in the Mother City, not like Durban or Joburg where the stadiums aren’t even filled on the CC final.
Enjoying the sour grapes?
30 Oct 2012, 09:17 am
@goodstuff-17: You are wrong, try again.
30 Oct 2012, 09:20 am
@goodstuff-18: Super trophy by all means, a very watered down Currie Cup reeks of desperation. Anyway if it manages to unite the good burghers of Cape Town then it will be a good thing.
30 Oct 2012, 09:20 am
@SuperStirrer-19: Please correct me then, who else in the team has played Currie Cup at another union?
30 Oct 2012, 09:20 am
@SuperStirrer-15: @Finfan-10: @suffer_guy-14:
Hahaha. sour power
30 Oct 2012, 09:22 am
@goodstuff-18:
They can’t even get a stadium half filled for a final! They would never be able to get people to celebrations along the road mate.
30 Oct 2012, 09:22 am
15- Taute (ex-Lions), 14- Van den Heever (ex-Bulls), 13- J de Villiers (ex-Munster), 12- Peter Grant (ex- Sharks), 11- Habana (ex-Bulls), 10- Jantjies (ex-Lions), 9 – Kockott (ex-Sharks), 8- Vermeulen (ex-Free State), 7-Rhodes (ex-Sharks / Lions), 6- F Louw (ex-Bath), Locks are local, 3- Cilliers (ex-Sharks / Lions), 2-Liebenberg (ex-Free State) 1-Local
Use a calculator and work out the percentage.
30 Oct 2012, 09:23 am
Okey the sour grapes starting to show now… I thought the humility wouldn’t last …
30 Oct 2012, 09:23 am
@SuperStirrer-20: Desperate for what? Was the the CC final watered down? Seemed like all the fit bok players were present, only thing watered down was the WP team as they were missing 3 boks. But they still beat a sharks team laden with boks!
30 Oct 2012, 09:24 am
@suffer_guy-14: Why do you care where they went to school? Is it important what high school they went to? Or do you consider the university ,and junior school?
@goodstuff-17: To my knowledge ;Carstens ,Sinclair ,Habbana ,Vermulen, Van der Heever, Armand
30 Oct 2012, 09:25 am
A ticker tape parade!
Awesome.
Imagine the party when the Stormers win the Super 15.
30 Oct 2012, 09:25 am
@gunther-28:
Freedom of the City and the Republic of Hout Bay. Awesome indeed.
30 Oct 2012, 09:26 am
@Finfan-24: Kockott?
You been drinking??
Besides your Ex-Musnster and Ex- bath attempts are rather lame too .
Just saying.
30 Oct 2012, 09:27 am
@Finfan-24:
Kockott??
30 Oct 2012, 09:27 am
@Finfan-24: Dont be petty .But I do suspect soon we will have more Durban boys in our side that the Sharks bwahaha
Ciliers ,Rhodes, Armand ,Grant and then a few like Howard in the junior ranks.
30 Oct 2012, 09:28 am
@wpallday-32:
Everyone wants to play for Province, so can we help it…
It is the to be team anyway…
30 Oct 2012, 09:29 am
@goodstuff-21: Come on, there are some glaring ommissions there that any self true respecting Stormers / WP supporter would not miss out.
30 Oct 2012, 09:29 am
@Gumboots-25: You WP fans, more than anyone else, should know what it feels like to lose. Some fans only experience this once or twice in a lifetime and we, unlike the WP fans, never had the opportunity to internalise the loser-status. Show some sympathy please.
30 Oct 2012, 09:30 am
@Gumboots-33: It is probably becuase all their school mates already are at either Stellenbosch or UCT. Who can blame them haha
30 Oct 2012, 09:30 am
I see Butch James has signed for the Sharks. So Lambie will play 15 then???
30 Oct 2012, 09:32 am
A Coetzee —> EP
30 Oct 2012, 09:32 am
@Finfan-35: Booohooo Sharks lost go internalize elsewhere .
30 Oct 2012, 09:32 am
@Finfan-35:
No problem mate! I remeber the five in a row and it seemed that we couldn’t lose… Now I’m thinking maybe this could be happening again and we will have parades for five years in a row…
30 Oct 2012, 09:33 am
@stormersboy-30: With scrumhalves like Groom and Duvenhage, surely you’ll have to recruit someone with at least some Sharks experience??
30 Oct 2012, 09:33 am
@Gumboots-37: Highly doubt that ,Butch will be a reserve 10 . In my opinion he still has some game !!
30 Oct 2012, 09:35 am
@wpallday-36: Not only at UCT or Stellies but also, running and owning business’ and keeping the economy going and making money at the same time. Win win situation.
30 Oct 2012, 09:35 am
@Finfan-24: Lol, you are actually counting Louw and De Villiers as outside players? You are desperate, both those players came through WP ranks idiot. Grant came through Maties rugby (was only a nataler at high school level), where is Kocket even part of the Stormers plans? Rhodes won’t start.
Real stormers starting lineup:
Taute (lions), Aplon (wp), De Jongh (wp), JDV (WP), Habana (bulls), Jantjies (Lions), DuVenhage (WP), Vermeulen (FS), Schalk (WP), Kollisi (WP), Bekker (WP), Ysterbeth (WP), Malherbe (WP), Liebenberg (Griquas), Kitshoff (WP)
That’s 10/15 which is 60% WP.
Bench:
Cilliers (Lions)
Fourie (WP)
Elstadt (WP)
Rhodes (Lions)
Shreuder/ Groom (WP)
Grant (WP, never played ruggas a pro level for any other province in SA)
J Peterson (WP)
5/7 are WP 71%!
Dilusional sour grapes!!!
So sad. Are you a lions supporter? Sorry about the card you have been dealt if that’s the case.
30 Oct 2012, 09:36 am
Time for work, see you guys at the parade.
30 Oct 2012, 09:37 am
@gunther-28: So disruptive. I’m going to suggest that they combine this ticker tape parade with the Klopse festival, a Cosatu protest and the G.ay Pride march and get them all over and done with. And just think of the bridges that will be built.
30 Oct 2012, 09:37 am
Kolisi = EP made SA schools as a EP boy
30 Oct 2012, 09:37 am
@wpallday-27: oops forgot habana because got injured so early, sorry my error, so that is 5 out of 22? Where did Armand play CC before province?
30 Oct 2012, 09:39 am
@goodstuff-48:
Habanna was a Lion, then Bull…the prince of teams…
30 Oct 2012, 09:40 am
@suffer_guy-47: ‘Poaching’ players only counts if the player has played top flight rugby. At school level they are fair game. Where would Kolisi rather want to go to University? At Mandela Bay or UCT?
If you look at it like that then every SA team besides the cheetahs are merc teams.
Because who the hell wants to move to Bloem?
30 Oct 2012, 09:41 am
@katman-46: add the opening of parliament in there as well. All fancy dress parades anyway.
30 Oct 2012, 09:43 am
@goodstuff-44:
You tell him.
Labelling JDV ex-Munster as if he’s not a born and bred WP/Stormers player.
Sad really.
30 Oct 2012, 09:44 am
@puff-52: Lol, the man is obviously delusional with grieve.
30 Oct 2012, 09:47 am

WP locally schooled and developed players on Saturday comes to 8.
Sharks meet us half-way with 4.
End of story biatches
30 Oct 2012, 09:52 am
@wp_boytjie-54: The Sharks players are not “poached”. They have all approached the Sharks Rugby Union, begging for contracts. You’ll be disappointed to know how many WP players are still on the Sharks’ waiting list, including Etsebeth and De Jongh.
30 Oct 2012, 09:53 am
@wp_boytjie-54: JPP is from Stellenbosch.
30 Oct 2012, 09:54 am
@Finfan-56:
Who else is on your waiting list ?
Chuck Norris and Rocky Balboa.
30 Oct 2012, 09:54 am
Are some of you aware that suffer_guy, Finfan and SuperStirrer could be the same guy? That’s how trolls do it nowadays. Setting up different profiles to satisfy themselves in whatever capacity. Surely the similarity of their posts defined by the same target should have raised your suspicions! @Finfan-24: The part about Louw and de Villiers was pathetic, even by HeavensGame standards.
But anyway, if this all makes you happy then keep at it.
30 Oct 2012, 09:55 am
@Sasuke-57:
Was schooled in KZN so i gave them the benefit of the doubt haha
30 Oct 2012, 09:55 am
@Sasuke-57:
…and went to school in Witbank I think
30 Oct 2012, 09:56 am
@wp_boytjie-60:
Really?
30 Oct 2012, 09:57 am
@SuperStirrer-51: Good call. Is there not a way we can do the Cape Argus at the same time?
30 Oct 2012, 09:59 am
Pietersen was educated at the Hoërskool Generaal Hertzog in Witbank
30 Oct 2012, 09:59 am
@Gumboots-62:
No my mistake Witbank is correct , i thought that was in KZN , haha
30 Oct 2012, 10:00 am
@wp_boytjie-65:
He is actually from Cape Town but couldn’t make it here!!!
30 Oct 2012, 10:01 am
@Finfan-56: Lol, you are such a loser, Whitehead was a second choice centre and now he starts at Sharks, that will give you an idea who signs with the Sharks from WP.
Sorry but JDJ and Etsebeth are very happy where they are, no cholera or hook worms in the Cape.
30 Oct 2012, 10:01 am
@wp_boytjie-58: LMAO!!!!!
30 Oct 2012, 10:02 am
@wp_boytjie-54
JPP played craven week for the Pumas…
30 Oct 2012, 10:14 am
Who cares where who went to school blah blah blah. The only FACTS are that the WP are 2012 Currie Cup Champions and that the Sharks have choked in 3 finals in a row.
End Of Discussion.
30 Oct 2012, 10:25 am
@Golden Boy-70: At least they’ve made it to three finals in a row. It took you Capies 200 years to get there.
30 Oct 2012, 10:26 am
@BishopsOD-59: I dont know about the other 2, but I am just me, for what its worth I also think the bit about Jean and Louw was pushing the boundaries.
30 Oct 2012, 10:26 am
@Golden Boy-70: In the words of Dr Marttin Luther King, “Why don’t we all just get along. We are free, free at last.”
30 Oct 2012, 10:29 am
@Golden Boy-70: It is a trend nowadays for the llosing team supporters to try and get the moral high ground by either accusing the winning team of cheating or some other unethical thing that gave them such or such advantage.
But the truth is this, the AB’s kicked the boks’ asses in SA and the WP beat the Sharks in the fishbowl!
30 Oct 2012, 10:31 am
@SuperStirrer-72: When you flee your “home province” and then return, you should be labelled an import. By the way, Louw will probably stay with Bath and not even return to Province. (And he is another one on the Sharks’ waiting list.)
30 Oct 2012, 10:31 am
@Finfan-71: 200 hundred years? Really? Are you like 12 years old?
30 Oct 2012, 10:33 am
@goodstuff-76: It certainly felt like 200 years, didn’t it?
30 Oct 2012, 10:34 am
@Finfan-75: Your are making sense, in a “I am a complete ******!” kind of way.
Wow, at this stage I am empressed that you can operate a keyboard.
30 Oct 2012, 10:35 am
@Finfan-75: You are not doing a good job of trolling – spice it up, but within reasons or else all will ignore you and you wont have anyone to play with.
30 Oct 2012, 10:35 am
@Finfan-77: Nah, it felt like 11 years. Wouldn’t know what 200 years feels like.
30 Oct 2012, 10:36 am
Interesting census results. For the first time coloureds outnumber whites in SA.
“Cape Town – Almost eight in every 10 people in South Africa are black, according to the 2011 Census results, released on Tuesday.
About 41 million people described themselves as black; 4.62 million as coloured; 4.59 million as white; and 1.3 million as Indian or Asian, during the October 9 count last year.
In the previous census, in 2001, there were 35.4 million black people, 3.99 million coloureds, 1.1 million Indians or Asians, and 4.29 million whites.
For the first time in post-1994 census history, the number of people identifying themselves as coloured exceeds those describing themselves as white.”
30 Oct 2012, 10:37 am
@Finfan-71:
Blah Blah Blah…
@BishopsOD-73:
Touche!!!!
@goodstuff-74:
Exactly!!!!!
30 Oct 2012, 10:39 am
@BishopsOD-73: yoh, you are muddling the quotes big time… “can’t we all get along” – rodney king…
“free at last, thank God Almighty we are free at last” Dr MLK.
30 Oct 2012, 10:40 am
@katman-81:
Colored is the new white, without the perks
30 Oct 2012, 10:41 am
@katman-81: A large portion of young white South Africans are abroad in countries like Australia, UK and Canada. Eve na few coloured people as well, especially those in the medical, engineering and financial industries.
It’s also one of the reasons the white unemployment rate is so low, many unemployed white SAFFAS leave the country, thus are not counted as part of the unemployed figure.
30 Oct 2012, 10:41 am
@SuperStirrer-79: True, I’ll stop p1ssing on the WP parade (pun intended) and let them enjoy their fun. It unfortunately won’t last for too long: with so many imports it will take them another 11 years (at least) to gel.
30 Oct 2012, 10:44 am
@Finfan-86: With so few brain cells, it will take you 11 years before you comprehend the level of your own stupidity.
30 Oct 2012, 10:47 am
@Transformation-83:
How DARE you question someone schooled at BISHOPS!!!!!!
30 Oct 2012, 10:47 am
@katman-81: Wow, that Stormers / WP team really needs to become more representative then.
30 Oct 2012, 10:49 am
@goodstuff-87: Why so irritated this morning? Were you still drinking last night and have yet another hangover? I am sure the majority of WP fans stopped the drinking on Sunday night already.
30 Oct 2012, 10:50 am
I’ve compiled a book from the Internet. It’s a book of quotations attributed to the wrong people. Jerry Seinfeld aka BishopsOD
30 Oct 2012, 10:55 am
Shame on you giving the Bishop a hard time.
Bow before your master.
Will the ticket tape parade be on TV?
There is nothing on sky news.
30 Oct 2012, 10:57 am
@gunther-92:
I see the Sky and BBC news helicopters circling the Castle as we speak. The Al Jazeera Chopper is having problems getting the clearance permit for Cape Town. Something about tall buildings…
30 Oct 2012, 11:04 am
@gunther-92: I am sure there will be highlights on SABC3 tomorrow.
Apparently Juan de Jongh is going to lead the team in an original dance routine. HM requested the players selected for the Bok team to be excused from this exercise as the risk for serious injury is just too great. I guess they’ll ignore his request though.
30 Oct 2012, 11:05 am
@gunther-92: They’ve had to push out the starting time of the parade because they asked for a topless bus, and Golden Arrow organised some sort of public transport reed dance. Interesting, but not what Thelo had in mind.
30 Oct 2012, 11:07 am
WP won, we all get it already, congrats to them.
@Finfan your trolling only gives these province okes more ammunition to tell us how great their province side.
The sharks are still the most consistent franchise in SA (and no I dont mean consistent chokers, even though that may be partly true)
30 Oct 2012, 11:11 am
Quality gentlemen.
30 Oct 2012, 11:12 am
@2k3-96:
Totally agree with your entire post. Well, not really. (I’m partly agreeing with you here)
30 Oct 2012, 11:12 am
@2k3-96: “most consistent franchise in SA”
how do you arrive at that conclusion?
school us?
30 Oct 2012, 11:14 am
@2k3-96: Consistently overrated yes.
30 Oct 2012, 11:20 am
Guppys enter the Desert
The Sharks Academy has entered into a joint venture with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Rugby Union to operate three High Performance Academy programmes in the UAE commencing January 2013.
UAE Rugby and the Sharks will operate at three venues, namely Al Ain, Abu Dhabu and Dubai where permanent Sharks staff will help produce the same talent that has come through the Sharks Academy in Durban, with 54 Senior Sharks players and 20 Springboks already through the system.
It is reported that UAE Rugby approached the Sharks as they are seen as world leaders in the field of developing players for professional rugby, and the Academy will be the first of its kind in Asia
******** Falaknaz, Chairman of UAERF commented “We are truly delighted to team up with The Sharks in this first Academy of its type in Asia. After a global search it became clear that The Sharks Academy are the clear leaders in the field of developing players for professional rugby and we are understandably excited at this prospect and look forward to a fruitful and mutually beneficial partnership.”
30 Oct 2012, 11:24 am
@Transformation-99: Since 2010 ,no other SA team has played in more finals. Simple really
30 Oct 2012, 11:25 am

What is the definition of a Western Province rugby player?
Somebody whose forefathers failed the medical for the Great Trek…
30 Oct 2012, 11:29 am
@cane-104: Lets wait for it: someone is going to call them “chokers” now
30 Oct 2012, 11:30 am
@2k3-102: and lost as many too
30 Oct 2012, 11:31 am
@Transformation-101:

But that quote was from two dudes who regularly got an ***-whupping from the authorities so I can be forgiven (can’t I?).

@cane-104:
2010… Bulls: champs
2009… Bulls: champs
2007… Bulls: champs
1993… Transvaal: champs
Believe me when I say that every other franchise this side is not exactly fussed about emulating the Sharks’… awesome… record.
30 Oct 2012, 11:46 am
@Transformation-101: I suppose its necessary that the structures are there before they buy fully developed and functional teams. I can see many marginal provincial rugby players thinking/Googling out Arab names for themselves.

@goodstuff-110:
Sorry to be a nerd……………………….but wtf.

Also a 2nd last.

Indeed boys.
The Stormers carry Saffer hopes in Super Rugby next years.
It will be a while before the Bullies are a force again.

30 Oct 2012, 12:16 pm
*** (with upfront apologies to the vast majority of lekker sharkie boytjies and girltjies…) ***
must agree with our learned colleague FinnyFan… the Sharks players were certainly not “poached”…
on Saturday they were BURNED…!!
hehehe…
hence their bitterbeks… no one enjoys the hungover aftertaste of burned sharksfinfan soup…
these few sharks fans are like kids who are sulky and jealous when they get invited to the other kids birthday party… they had such a good time when it was their own birthday they wanna be the centre of attention on everyone else’s birthday too… so they pout and sulk and sit in the corner and hold their breath and hope their purple faces will coerce everyone into asking them what’s wrong… thing is… they can’t answer so just have another dummy-spitting rantrum in the sandpit…
we must extend them a empathetic supporting hand and a “don’t worry we’ll still play with you when you’re feeling better” with a patient knowing nod…
thank dog for guys like charo and puma and ranger and ryecatcher and sharksgirl and sharkslover and all the other goodsports who support the sharks…

Ackermann’s job advertised
Published: Tuesday, 30. October, 2012
Johan Ackermann was expected to be a shoe-in to replace John Mitchell as Lions head coach, but he may have some competition.
the Golden Lions Rugby Union will start advertising the position of head coach on Wednesday.
It comes in the same week that the GLRU hope to wrap up the unpleasant coaching saga involving the former All Black coach, Mitchell.
New Zealanders John Mitchell (head coach), Carlos Spencer (backs/attack coach) and Wayne Taylor (conditioning coach), who were roped in by the GLRU midway through 2010, were all shown the door earlier this year.
Mitchell has been involved in a protracted arbitration dispute with the GLRU since the fall-out, after complaints from senior players and the GLRU management.
30 Oct 2012, 12:18 pm
@Finfan-129: Oh wait I forgot. The Sharks are (as usual) the overwhelming favourites to win next year.
30 Oct 2012, 12:19 pm
@stormersboy-135:
next year will be their year…!!
30 Oct 2012, 12:19 pm
@cane-104: Don’t be silly now.Bulls with their three titles are the most successful province.I know that you are still upset regarding Sl and Puma’s permanent defection to RT,but no need for you to make idiotic statements.
30 Oct 2012, 12:20 pm
@ufo-133: wait till Predawn reads this, you’re poached, ahem, you’re toast!
30 Oct 2012, 12:20 pm
@ufo-133: hahahaha how do you cook a shark:
Over a “Haai” heat!

The Currie Cup is over now.

30 Oct 2012, 12:22 pm
@ufo-133:
Classic.
LOL.
30 Oct 2012, 12:24 pm
Next year? Just watch the Lio…
Never mind.
30 Oct 2012, 12:24 pm
@Transformation-134: Very embarrasing for SA rugby, Lions union is a joke. John Mitchell has a very good head on his shoulders, much better than any of the Lions administration.
30 Oct 2012, 12:24 pm
Forget the sharks.
The bookies will have the Crookbacks as firm favourites next year.
30 Oct 2012, 12:25 pm

It’s your party UFO.
Cry if you want to.
30 Oct 2012, 12:31 pm
@ufo-133: My sincere apologies to all the WP fans who feel so hurt by my comments. I thought the Province win would’ve lifted your spirits and maybe even allow the latent sense of humour to come through. It seems it will take more than one win to get out of the deep, dark depression that resulted from the endless beatings you had to endure over so many years
Chill man, enjoy it while it lasts

30 Oct 2012, 12:34 pm

30 Oct 2012, 12:34 pm
@cane-149: This is right up there with not letting the Maoris tour to SA. Disgraceful.
30 Oct 2012, 12:37 pm
@Finfan-153: We are very humouris, espcially reading your comments. Your very funny, but in a “look at these idiots on YouTube” kind of way.
Don’t worry, we will enjoy the moment, and with our mostly 22 year old players with Currie Cup winners medals and the same for our u/19 team, I think we will be enjoying some form of success for a longer time than you would like to believe.
30 Oct 2012, 12:39 pm
@Finfan-153:
if it works for you, to think we’re all worried… go with it… keep holding your breath…
if you wanna see lifted spirits… i’ll spot you a ticket to the parade…!! i’m sure we can get a seat next helen and patricia…
didn’t think just one loss in a great season would leave plumbago and you so devastated…!! just shows to go you i guess…
the sharks are still a triffic team…
promise you…!!
30 Oct 2012, 12:43 pm
EMO KeoCunties Unite!!

@mxhosa-156:
Not a bad looking team MX.
30 Oct 2012, 12:46 pm
@Finfan-153: Chillax bro.
Our sense of humour is very much intact.
Fire away.
We love to return serve
30 Oct 2012, 12:46 pm
So cozy here today…
Full of WP fangirls giving backslaps and airpunches allround to…
…. other WP fangirls…
So the Currie Cup actually does count in Brokeback land after all
30 Oct 2012, 12:48 pm
@katman-157:
They have other places to go.
It is not disgraceful.
All destinations are unique.
30 Oct 2012, 12:49 pm
Stormers team for next year
1. Kitshoff
2. Fourie
3. Cilliers
4. Etzebeth
5. Bekker
6. Kolisi
7. Burger/ Elstadt
8. Vermeulen
9. Dewaldt (AC wont drop him)

14. Aplon
15. Taute
16. Liebenberg
17. Brok
18. Rhodes
19. Elstadt/Carr
20. Schreuder (Better than Groom in my opinion)
21. Grant
22. Joe Pietersen
With that bench we are well covered with experienced options.
30 Oct 2012, 12:52 pm
For months honest rugby supporters have been inflicted by the hotair and lost farts emanating from under mountain about its irrelevance…
So it is quite funny that the Currie Cup suddenly means something in the Proud Cape after all…
30 Oct 2012, 12:53 pm
@cane-164: One of which is Russia. I’ve been watching some YouTube vids from Russia, cane. Most Youtube vids are in fact from Russia. And 90% of them are either road rage fights or mafia hits. Unique does not mean desirable.
30 Oct 2012, 12:54 pm
@Heavens Game-163: So much so that despite all their wonderful academies & “breeding grounds” etc they still go import two of the best-players-in-the-land-in-their-positions from the Lions, and this after having helped vote them out of Super Rugby in favour of a bunch of ANC-backed palookas from the Eastern Cape.
So indicative of the stab-in-the-back attitude prevalent in South African rugby & politics.
30 Oct 2012, 12:54 pm
@Sasuke-165: The interresting choices will be in the first couple of matches as Schalk and Grant won’t yet be available.
Burger is only scheduled to return in the 3rd-odd week of SR I believe, and if AC has any common sense he’ll play him off the bench initially to ease him back, so if guys like Kolisi and Elstadt really make an impression it will give him quite a conundrum.
But a good one!
30 Oct 2012, 12:58 pm
@katman-167: My folks recently returned from a Northern Europe cruise, taking in St. Petersberg as one of the stops.
Apparently it’s a real mess compared to the other Northern European cities that they stopped at. Lots of poverty around the place too.
30 Oct 2012, 12:58 pm
@BrumbiesBoy-168: Apologies for the correction:
“So indicative of the stab-in-the-back attitude prevalent in WP rugby & politics.”
Farken tendencies….
30 Oct 2012, 12:58 pm
Dear G – o – d.
Please let Keegan win the SARU player of the year award (even though we know he doesn’t come close to deserving it). I know you want us to embrace the concept of “loving our brothers”, and I can think of no better way we WPIANS can show you that we buy into it. Eben and Bryan don’t need that award….but the guppie leader and his groupies REALLY DO.
If you are as loving as what I think you are, you might even throw in a prize for Marcell Coetzee?
This is me showing you that I love my neighbour as much as I love myself, as well as nailing my colours in terms of charitable acts.
My brothers and sisters who support the Shaiks, sorry Sharks, NEED something to cheer about.
It is in your hands.
30 Oct 2012, 12:59 pm
@BrumbiesBoy-168: Yawn.
30 Oct 2012, 13:00 pm
@katman-167:
True Katman………………………………………..Russia or the RSA.
It has always been a tough decision.
I personally would like the NZ Maori to never play outside the Pacific Rim.
30 Oct 2012, 13:01 pm
@stormersboy-169:
saw something a few weeks ago of AC chatting about schalk and saying he would definitely ease him into it, building up over the season…
so he’ll definitely start from the bench and build up his time and have to prove he’s still got the biz and compete with the other loosies..
30 Oct 2012, 13:01 pm
I was so sure, after reading Keo and the posts of so many “staunch” WP supporters here, that nobody from the Proud Cape gave a flyingfuck about the Currie Cup anymore…
Maybe they changed their minds…
….Again.
30 Oct 2012, 13:01 pm
@stormersboy-169: Yes agreed. A few guys have a chance to prove their worth and cement spots in the squad.
Good to hear Schalk coming back. I wasnt sure if he would ever play again. The year break probably added a year or two to his playing career.
30 Oct 2012, 13:11 pm
@Heavens Game-176: Show us HG. Don’t tell us about it, no one believes you anymore. (if ever)
30 Oct 2012, 13:15 pm
@stormersboy-178: Run along now, you’re going to be late for your ticker tape parade.
30 Oct 2012, 13:26 pm
@BrumbiesBoy-179:
I’ll catch the highlights on Media 24 if that’s OK with you.
30 Oct 2012, 13:26 pm
@Heavens Game-176: I think it was beating the windgat sharks in the fishbowl! That made it all worth it. The Currie Cup took a dip last year because all the bok players only arrived during the Semis, this year the boks cam back a bit earlier, making the final rounds more realistic and acurate towards the real order of things.
Thus the reason the Lions lost all games as soon as the boks came back.
The final was epic, the WP won and the Sharks lost. Deal with it pawnscum.

30 Oct 2012, 14:07 pm
All the WP fans gone to the parade? I heard they at SAB now.
30 Oct 2012, 14:20 pm
@stormersboy-180:
@Sasuke-184: Skoppie leading the parade in his battered, old rustbucket bakkie?
30 Oct 2012, 14:32 pm
@BrumbiesBoy-168: looky here we have the disaffected canberra flipflopper chirping
where do you think the Sharks got DEYSEL, LUDIK & ALBERTS, at a fish market?
30 Oct 2012, 14:35 pm
@stormersboy-182: Judging by some of the comments it seems like my earlier assumption that the parade would unite the good burghers of Cape Town was not to be. Seems like some feel the DA are are trying to get political mileage out of it.
30 Oct 2012, 14:41 pm
wpians sound so angry after their first trophie in a decade.
dis snaaks.
30 Oct 2012, 14:47 pm
@SuperStirrer-187: Well you see we have some bloggers on here that Live in Cape Town and support other teams. It’s probably them.
30 Oct 2012, 14:48 pm
what can you expect when a union wins fokkol for a decade?
the fangays get a little sour and it all comes out when they finally win.
onnoselse moers gaan vlieg in jou gatte in.
30 Oct 2012, 14:49 pm
@Transformation-186: Yeah, I know, the same place that the Bulls & the Goats got Habana & J Fourie respectively from.
But the important thing is that at least the Bulls & the Sharks supported the Lions in The Vote.
Respect.
30 Oct 2012, 14:50 pm
@cane-174: Oi, you got no business knocking Russia or RSA and then talking up the Pacific Rim. I mean, with a name like that it can only be the ay-nus of the world.
30 Oct 2012, 14:50 pm
@wp. winning nothing never looked so easy-188: Purely your imagination. I’m as happy as can be. I love the vitirol spewing from the loser sharkies. Made my year.
You should change your name by the way, maybe “Sharks, choking never looks so easy”.
30 Oct 2012, 14:55 pm
@stormersboy-189: Nah I think these support other political parts, not teams.
30 Oct 2012, 14:56 pm
Sweet lord, I made the mistake of trying to run an errand in town over lunch and got caught up in the “ticker tape parade”. And it was a pretty pisspoor show, to be brutally honest. I really feel sorry for the genuinely excited little boys and girls who turned up with their hand made posters because they were outnumbered 3 to 1 by an assortment of homeless transvestites from the local shelter, Congolese parking attendants and the entire collection of St Georges Mall loonies.
30 Oct 2012, 15:01 pm
@katman-195: Are you talking about the Western Province Currie Cup parade in Cape Town or the Lions anti Kings protest in Benoni?
30 Oct 2012, 15:01 pm
@katman-195:
The only thing that will cheer me up is if I find out that they were using traffic summonses as ticker tape.
30 Oct 2012, 15:02 pm
@SuperStirrer-187:
I’m sure a few of them are bloggers here.
30 Oct 2012, 15:05 pm

30 Oct 2012, 15:08 pm
@SuperStirrer-187: do you recall of the Lions had a parade with Nomvula Mookonyane in JOzi last year
30 Oct 2012, 15:09 pm
@stormersboy-189:
**** you.
I pay my taxes.
I’ll support who I like.
30 Oct 2012, 15:11 pm
@gunther-202: Anybody who buys bread in this country is considered a tax payer.
But yes you can support who you want, nothing to do with taxes.
30 Oct 2012, 15:11 pm
@BrumbiesBoy-191: you mean they f.cukem then they brushem?
naaice
30 Oct 2012, 15:12 pm
@gunther-197: They actually did make the 200m long tape exactly like that until some killjoy pointed out that you spell it “ticker”. So they had to bin roughly 600 000 carbon copies of tickets issued in Cape Town since February. Robin Carlisle has apparently called a brainstorm to find ways of making up the shortfall.
30 Oct 2012, 15:14 pm
If I didn’t know better I would reckon that the “triumphant” WP fangirls here got massive chips on their shoulders…
But I do know better and it aint a chip on a shoulder – its just ignorance…
Ignorance as result of being in a permanent state of myopic tunnel vision where nothing exists outside the rather emotional Cape Town bubble..
30 Oct 2012, 15:14 pm
@Transformation-201: Serious, I missed that one. Pressumably for the Currie Cup win as well. I give up.
I hope we win the Africa cup of Nations – I can see a week of public holidays on the horizon.
30 Oct 2012, 15:18 pm
@gunther-202: I pay I order??
30 Oct 2012, 15:19 pm
@goodstuff-203: jy is die soort van wie ek praat.
puff that pigeon chest out with pride.
daar is ‘n paar van julle wpians wat ok is maar julle is soos kiwis met jou entitlement.
so ek se….dankie virrie whining en gloating dit maak dit al hoe soeter as die sharkies julle opdonner soos gewoonlik.
30 Oct 2012, 15:19 pm
@katman-205:
Thats no good.
If they maintain this onslaught against motorists I will be forced to sell my Piccanto.
30 Oct 2012, 15:19 pm
@Heavens Game-206: Lol, this coming from you….let’s just say the word hypocrite comes to mind.
30 Oct 2012, 15:20 pm
i also pay my taxies…
and i support whoever the driver tells me too…!!
30 Oct 2012, 15:20 pm
oohhhh…!!
TAXES….!!!
30 Oct 2012, 15:21 pm
@stormersboy-208:
Indeed.
With apologies to Lukas Whatsembbibembi.
30 Oct 2012, 15:23 pm
@wp. winning nothing never looked so easy-209: Don’t remember myself talking about the WP/ Stormers deserving anything besides what they achieve. I mean look at your profile name? You demean my team in it and you accuse me?
You are so obsessed with WP, you should be more concerned that your team has failed against a less talented squad with a ref helping you out, ah and this all happening at home.
WP outplayed the Sharks just like when the Sharks out played the Stormers at Newlands in the SR SF.
But by all means chow does sour grapes.

Slowly ever so slowly 4pm approaches and i am so bored as I totally missed the announcement of (and missed) the completely unexpected happy parade in Adderley Street. Allow me to speed up the minutes by poking some fun at deceptive, deceitful trick-and-treaters to a cup, all be it a day early.
How fitting, on the week-end that gives way to Halloween that a mostly spookie, druid-like, pinkiepig team actually wins that HOLLOWEE Cup (not even HOLLOWOOD could script it any better).
Yes you read it correctly, it is now a HOLLOWEE Cup for it is as empty and small and even piss-like as that VOIDandCUMinCup played early season.
In short, it is mostly worthless(and local) for without global competitors we have no benchmark measure.
Was it not the great William Shakiespearie who wrote all the world is a stage meaning only global is meaningful?

Oosthuizen has Wallaby goals
Published: Monday, 29. October, 2012
New Brumbies recruit Etienne Oosthuizen has made no secret of his ambitions to represent Australia in the Test arena.
Sharks in UAE moveThe 19-year-old utility forward, who was signed from the Lions recently, joined his Brumbies teammates in Canberra on Monday.
The giant South African, at 120kg and 198cm, played for the Lions this year before accepting an offer from former Springbok coach Jake White to further his career in Australia.
“The Brumbies have presented me with a fantastic opportunity,” said Oosthuizen, who only turns 20 in December.
“Having grown up in South Africa, the move to Canberra was a big step for me but one I felt I was ready to make,” he added.
“My goals are to become a regular Brumby and then further down the track, to represent the Wallabies.
“This is a long-term move to Australia for me so naturally I’m very excited.”
The Brumbies kick-started their 2013 Super Rugby season with testing on Monday.
The entire squad assembled, with explosive testing and a beep test showing the boys to be in good physical condition for the coming season.
Robbie Coleman produced some of the most encouraging results for the backs while Scott Fardy and Leon Power worked hard to represent the tight forwards.
Wallabies Ben Alexander, Stephen Moore and David Pocock were also on hand, with Monday’s testing the last chance for the Brumbies to assess their condition before the European year-end tour.
Head coach Jake White said he was pleased with where the squad was positioned at this stage of the season.
“The players were given their own programs to work through while they were away and it’s encouraging to see them come back in good condition,” White said.
“This time last year we were probably a bit behind the eight ball in terms of our fitness and getting to know each other. There aren’t nearly as many new faces here and the guys we have recruited are in good shape physically and mentally.
“Pre-season is always an encouraging time of year. We see players working their hardest to catch the coaches’ eyes and hopefully secure themselves a spot in the starting side.”
The Brumbies pre-season will run fulltime until December 22, when the group breaks for Christmas.

How fitting too that those ‘verkrampte/verligte’ Neanderthalls, Burger, Bekker, De Villiers, Fondse, Rassie and some others do not taste champers out of a ‘Kerrie Beker’.
Instead it is the younger, fresher faces of De Jong, ‘Rooikop’, ‘Malkop’, ‘Ebeth’ , Gio and more who taste victory while other unfortunate fresh faces like Kolisi and Carr and more miss out

Personally for me and my mates the “CC” has always been the CUP.
Mayority of my mates being Saaks and Cheat-haar supporters.
I am more of a “rugby romatic” like the history behind the CC. I do enjoy the rivalry and local derby games.
I do enjoy the SR but. Yes the quality and the intensity of CC raggas is not the same as SR but I dont care. I don’t think the SR will be around in another 20 years from now.
Even the Rugby champion ship, don’t like it. I would prefer proper rugby tours. Before I get hammered….I know its all about the MONEY!!
I am pleased about my Province team. I dont rub it in……I have been on the receiving side for 11 years.

As for that Happy Parade in Adderley Street, has the ‘Kaapse Klopse’ ever had their ‘dagga’ fun so early before Jan.1st & 2nd.(‘of liewer so laat in ‘n jaar)?
For that matter has there ever been a parade for winning a C.C. ever in C.T.?
Seems to me too many dull personalities needed their images polished a bit; such as these fake ‘politicians’, sports’ administrators, long in the tooth players and some other ‘tails-of-the-dogs’.

However lists, like stats rarely tell the full or true story… If you take that list and insert who the finalists were in all the years that the Sharks weren’t champs, you will find that a certain name will be most common…
And certainly proving that although maybe poorer on a given day – certainly in most years, THE BEST team not to win…

Is there anything earth-shattering about a 1 in 12 minor win rate? That is barely 8% and for that to warrant a money wasting parade as part celebration is a shameful Lille Patty image polishing extravaganza in a city of millions of poor blacks(all blacks and only blacks).
How relevant is any one to the situation when he/she cannot even name any or all the teams that lay claim to the blue and white hooped rugby jersey just in the Western Cape?
Since E.T. is one of at least 10 million people without power because of a super-duper monster storm from a hurricane i will take the liberty of giving a hand-clap to you for keeping the SHAME in the spotlight.

@Transformation-265:
the thing about a handoff is its not really about the size or strength of either the (attempting) tackler or the ball carrier/runner. its really about timing it just right in order to catch the tackler somewhere inbetween him attempting to make the tackle and having commited to an exact and specific action in how he intends tackling the ball carrier.
once he’s commited to the decided tackle action its so difficult to change movement and compensate for the momemt at which the ball carrier (having calculated the right moment for effecting the handoff) carries through with it and palms/hits off the tackler in that sweet spot.
a great handoff is a bit of an extra momentum generator perhaps even for the carrier and of course a momentum degenerator/staller for the tackler.
of course its especially fun to see it done by a small carrier against a big tackler i suppose

I see a bunch of fools have stupidly made light of a serious situation that has horribly affected in access of 100m people. and has already left more than 50 dead in its path of destruction. But then that is what to expect from morons.
I smartly left Philly mid-morning Monday driving south on the I-95 to WPB as an emergency College message indicated the university would be closed for business until at least Thurs. and power had already just been disrupted less than an hour before I left home.
I have now been in WPB for about 4 hrs. after a heavy drive in winds gusting up to 70miles per hour and over-nighting in Savannah, Georgia.
I believe I was last on this site last Monday (more than a week ago) posting almost solely about the Armstrong scandal.
Now I read that I have been posting today(before now) when I know all that time I have been on the 95(800 miles plus) for very many hrs.passing places like Jacksonville, Daytona, Orlando (further to the west of the 95), Melbourne, Vero Beach, Steward, Jupiter and many more. .
I have not even seen the merely local CC as I was preparing to withstand the then Hurricane Sandy, yet I read that I passed comment on that unimportant game.
Where do you imbeciles get these ‘facts’. Are you all into fanciful ‘drol’ sucking to desperately get something to seemingly stick? Be aware there are many bacteria ,viruses, fungi and more microbes that will threaten your health.
I am essentially not on this site, barring about three separate days posting since Feb. already, and barely posted recently on my long predicted trouble for Lancy Army. Live with my absence for your rugby and its distasteful neo-racist situation is stunningly boring and worthless
Deal with the people who mock you ever so correctly i might add but they are not me and they are not in Penna.
BTW phone any of Temple, U.Penn., Einstein, Villanova, Drexel or more institutions to verify they are not in business(it is only just 4pm. her and the area code is 215 for Philly area).

BTW ‘ Khakibroekboytjie’, is it still important for you to LIE as your ‘apartheid’ needs has long ended by now?
I was only ever banished once and that was orchestrated by global emails of the Pietie-Gbs cabal. But then facts mean f-all to you, not so?
30 Oct 2012, 22:20 pm
I wonder who paid for the parade through the Cape streets today?Probably the taxes of mr captain of industry and his fellow pale-skin buddies i guess as the darker hues of society,as per mr captain of industry,doesn’t contribute to government coffers.

Did not know the W.Cape also is dealing with a hurricane induced super-storm.
Jokers, when I spoke to him on Sunday, never mentioned that to me. In fact he was talking about catching some fish somewhere along False bay coastline.

His take on the SA tax system was biggest load of **** that i have heard on any forum for a long time.The lies were absolutely astounding.Why go to such deceitful lenghts just tp prove that he and his kind are still important in the greater scheme of SA society.The poor delusional farker is still longing for the days of Oom PW it seems.

I have experienced the triple already. Two X category 3 hurricanes in WPB(eye of the storm and 100mph plus winds experience), mild earthquake in Philly last year and the worst Philly blizzard in history with 30 inches of snow in less than one day.
So who worries about super-storms?
Now the sun is blazing in WPB despite the wind and I am due to hit the beach at Ocean Ridge for a needed swim.
30 Oct 2012, 22:45 pm
This doggy-style(list) is refluxing already to get my attention but he/she/ it is so inconsequential and I am not here to post these days(holidays for me this week).
Little does he/she/it(and “Domzim”) realise that the celebratory attitude to non-racial sportspersons being denied passports in the ’80s makes a mocking,laughable statement about the claim to being non-racial.

So this is what being a fan’s all about- a bunch o growns acting like whippersnappers with big mouths?
Sad when you consider the main culprits to be these pseudo professional whose incapable/incompetent application of their chosen trade leaves much to be desired. Any job plied in the presence of a public audience deserves not to be compromised by elementary mistakes and despairingly lackadaisical performances.
And this is what’s come to, calling each other not your names and beefing meanwhile Burden, Plumtree and co. make off with fat match fees after making their slightly above mediocre but pap none the less opponents do the same with even bigger cheques in hand.
You’all best learn to redirect your ventilation to those that earn it! Don’t make me come here again to remind you!!!

@ The rugby pedigree dog’s hit-278:
You desperately make the doggypoo sucked assumption that I am an ANC adherent or voter or hanger-on whereas I know they are the continueing problem for the poor S.African worker(your using emotive labels does not bother me one little iota)
Bring your ‘domestic helper’ to Somerset West or Gordon’s Bay and I will educate her wrt how she and millions of fellow poor workers can solve their problems without putting all their trust in the ANC elite that control the trade unions.
Your ’75 & ” 7th tier ” references reveal how dumb and out of touch you are of your Neanderthal govt’s pathetic history of oppression that you now applaud. The denial of passports to the only true world recognised and invited non-racial sportpersons occurred in the mid ’80s and for you to repetitively celebrate and applaud such globally reviled actions by your voted reps. shows just where you are wrt racist sports. You can never ever be truly a worshipper of the principle of global non-racialism.
Let us know too how many times you could claim to poke your finger in the eye of your security specialists with vile names like Spyker Van Wyk, Bosduif ‘Bossie’ Bosman, Klipdrif Vermeulen, Dronkie Dankers and such like ? Many blacks can do so but what about you who once claimed to have fought apartheid?
I ask for the last time whose ‘liberal’ daughter would you like to be for that is the only claim to human respectability you will ever have.
Lastly, smartarse, just please pay your ‘domestic helper’(euphemism for servant, slave ) a simple living wage and not a slave wage so that Sipho can adequately perform at school.

@stormerklontjie-289: @stormerspinkpiggie290:
Your arrogant, bullyboy, apartheid mentality and insensitivities beyond control again? Are you longing for those days of brutish control again rugby ‘boertjie want jou Bokke is in hul moertjie’?
‘Domkrag’ is no match for the power of the pen and you and your gatgabbas have not learnt that lesson yet.
The drive to work beckons but I will be back around late afternoon to attend to relevant matters.
