Stormers celebrate Bok boost
30 Oct 2012
Allister Coetzee says he’s excited to have on-loan Springbok and Lions duo Elton Jantjies and Jaco Taute in his Stormers squad next year.
Taute confirmed his move to keo.co.za last Wednesday, while WPRU president Thelo Wakefield also told this site that he approved Jantjies’ deal late last week.
Coetzee believes the two players will make telling contributions next season.
‘We’re very excited about having Elton and Jaco in Cape Town for next year’s Super Rugby tournament,’ said Coetzee. ‘They’re both quality players and we look forward to getting them involved here – both on and off the field – and seeing how they fit into the Stormers culture.’
Jantjies is expected to get a run in the starting line-up during the opening rounds of Super Rugby, considering the departure of WP’s Currie Cup-winning flyhalf Demetri Catrakilis to the Southern Kings and the late arrival of Peter Grant from Japan in February.
While Taute is able to play at centre and fullback, he’s likely to compete for the No 15 jersey as the Stormers already have Jean de Villiers, Juan de Jongh, Marcel Brache and JP du Plessis in their midfield department. Damian de Allende is also considered to be in the mix after his impressive performance at inside centre in the Currie Cup final.
Taute has the option of extending his stay in Cape Town after the Super Rugby season as his contract with the Lions expires next year.
The Stormers have also signed utility forward Michael Rhodes (who can play lock or flank) and Springbok versatile prop Pat Cilliers from the Lions on permanent deals.

It’s your party UFO.
Cry if you want to.
30 Oct 2012, 12:31 pm
@ufo-133: My sincere apologies to all the WP fans who feel so hurt by my comments. I thought the Province win would’ve lifted your spirits and maybe even allow the latent sense of humour to come through. It seems it will take more than one win to get out of the deep, dark depression that resulted from the endless beatings you had to endure over so many years
Chill man, enjoy it while it lasts

@cane-149: This is right up there with not letting the Maoris tour to SA. Disgraceful.
30 Oct 2012, 12:37 pm
@Finfan-153: We are very humouris, espcially reading your comments. Your very funny, but in a “look at these idiots on YouTube” kind of way.
Don’t worry, we will enjoy the moment, and with our mostly 22 year old players with Currie Cup winners medals and the same for our u/19 team, I think we will be enjoying some form of success for a longer time than you would like to believe.
30 Oct 2012, 12:39 pm
@Finfan-153:

So the Currie Cup actually does count in Brokeback land after all

@katman-157:
They have other places to go.
It is not disgraceful.
All destinations are unique.

30 Oct 2012, 12:52 pm
For months honest rugby supporters have been inflicted by the hotair and lost farts emanating from under mountain about its irrelevance…
So it is quite funny that the Currie Cup suddenly means something in the Proud Cape after all…
30 Oct 2012, 12:53 pm
@cane-164: One of which is Russia. I’ve been watching some YouTube vids from Russia, cane. Most Youtube vids are in fact from Russia. And 90% of them are either road rage fights or mafia hits. Unique does not mean desirable.
30 Oct 2012, 12:54 pm
@Heavens Game-163: So much so that despite all their wonderful academies & “breeding grounds” etc they still go import two of the best-players-in-the-land-in-their-positions from the Lions, and this after having helped vote them out of Super Rugby in favour of a bunch of ANC-backed palookas from the Eastern Cape.
So indicative of the stab-in-the-back attitude prevalent in South African rugby & politics.
30 Oct 2012, 12:54 pm
@Sasuke-165: The interresting choices will be in the first couple of matches as Schalk and Grant won’t yet be available.
Burger is only scheduled to return in the 3rd-odd week of SR I believe, and if AC has any common sense he’ll play him off the bench initially to ease him back, so if guys like Kolisi and Elstadt really make an impression it will give him quite a conundrum.
But a good one!
30 Oct 2012, 12:58 pm
@katman-167: My folks recently returned from a Northern Europe cruise, taking in St. Petersberg as one of the stops.
Apparently it’s a real mess compared to the other Northern European cities that they stopped at. Lots of poverty around the place too.
30 Oct 2012, 12:58 pm
@BrumbiesBoy-168: Apologies for the correction:
“So indicative of the stab-in-the-back attitude prevalent in WP rugby & politics.”
Farken tendencies….

Dear G – o – d.
Please let Keegan win the SARU player of the year award (even though we know he doesn’t come close to deserving it). I know you want us to embrace the concept of “loving our brothers”, and I can think of no better way we WPIANS can show you that we buy into it. Eben and Bryan don’t need that award….but the guppie leader and his groupies REALLY DO.
If you are as loving as what I think you are, you might even throw in a prize for Marcell Coetzee?
This is me showing you that I love my neighbour as much as I love myself, as well as nailing my colours in terms of charitable acts.
My brothers and sisters who support the Shaiks, sorry Sharks, NEED something to cheer about.
It is in your hands.
30 Oct 2012, 12:59 pm
@BrumbiesBoy-168: Yawn.
30 Oct 2012, 13:00 pm
@katman-167:
True Katman………………………………………..Russia or the RSA.
It has always been a tough decision.
I personally would like the NZ Maori to never play outside the Pacific Rim.
30 Oct 2012, 13:01 pm
@stormersboy-169:
saw something a few weeks ago of AC chatting about schalk and saying he would definitely ease him into it, building up over the season…
so he’ll definitely start from the bench and build up his time and have to prove he’s still got the biz and compete with the other loosies..
30 Oct 2012, 13:01 pm
I was so sure, after reading Keo and the posts of so many “staunch” WP supporters here, that nobody from the Proud Cape gave a flyingfuck about the Currie Cup anymore…
Maybe they changed their minds…
….Again.
30 Oct 2012, 13:01 pm
@stormersboy-169: Yes agreed. A few guys have a chance to prove their worth and cement spots in the squad.
Good to hear Schalk coming back. I wasnt sure if he would ever play again. The year break probably added a year or two to his playing career.
30 Oct 2012, 13:11 pm
@Heavens Game-176: Show us HG. Don’t tell us about it, no one believes you anymore. (if ever)
30 Oct 2012, 13:15 pm
@stormersboy-178: Run along now, you’re going to be late for your ticker tape parade.
30 Oct 2012, 13:26 pm
@BrumbiesBoy-179:
I’ll catch the highlights on Media 24 if that’s OK with you.
30 Oct 2012, 13:26 pm
@Heavens Game-176: I think it was beating the windgat sharks in the fishbowl! That made it all worth it. The Currie Cup took a dip last year because all the bok players only arrived during the Semis, this year the boks cam back a bit earlier, making the final rounds more realistic and acurate towards the real order of things.
Thus the reason the Lions lost all games as soon as the boks came back.
The final was epic, the WP won and the Sharks lost. Deal with it pawnscum.

30 Oct 2012, 14:07 pm
All the WP fans gone to the parade? I heard they at SAB now.
30 Oct 2012, 14:20 pm
@stormersboy-180:
@Sasuke-184: Skoppie leading the parade in his battered, old rustbucket bakkie?
30 Oct 2012, 14:32 pm
@BrumbiesBoy-168: looky here we have the disaffected canberra flipflopper chirping
where do you think the Sharks got DEYSEL, LUDIK & ALBERTS, at a fish market?
30 Oct 2012, 14:35 pm
@stormersboy-182: Judging by some of the comments it seems like my earlier assumption that the parade would unite the good burghers of Cape Town was not to be. Seems like some feel the DA are are trying to get political mileage out of it.
30 Oct 2012, 14:41 pm
wpians sound so angry after their first trophie in a decade.
dis snaaks.
30 Oct 2012, 14:47 pm
@SuperStirrer-187: Well you see we have some bloggers on here that Live in Cape Town and support other teams. It’s probably them.
30 Oct 2012, 14:48 pm
what can you expect when a union wins fokkol for a decade?
the fangays get a little sour and it all comes out when they finally win.
onnoselse moers gaan vlieg in jou gatte in.
30 Oct 2012, 14:49 pm
@Transformation-186: Yeah, I know, the same place that the Bulls & the Goats got Habana & J Fourie respectively from.
But the important thing is that at least the Bulls & the Sharks supported the Lions in The Vote.
Respect.
30 Oct 2012, 14:50 pm
@cane-174: Oi, you got no business knocking Russia or RSA and then talking up the Pacific Rim. I mean, with a name like that it can only be the ay-nus of the world.
30 Oct 2012, 14:50 pm
@wp. winning nothing never looked so easy-188: Purely your imagination. I’m as happy as can be. I love the vitirol spewing from the loser sharkies. Made my year.
You should change your name by the way, maybe “Sharks, choking never looks so easy”.
30 Oct 2012, 14:55 pm
@stormersboy-189: Nah I think these support other political parts, not teams.
30 Oct 2012, 14:56 pm
Sweet lord, I made the mistake of trying to run an errand in town over lunch and got caught up in the “ticker tape parade”. And it was a pretty pisspoor show, to be brutally honest. I really feel sorry for the genuinely excited little boys and girls who turned up with their hand made posters because they were outnumbered 3 to 1 by an assortment of homeless transvestites from the local shelter, Congolese parking attendants and the entire collection of St Georges Mall loonies.
30 Oct 2012, 15:01 pm
@katman-195: Are you talking about the Western Province Currie Cup parade in Cape Town or the Lions anti Kings protest in Benoni?
30 Oct 2012, 15:01 pm
@katman-195:
The only thing that will cheer me up is if I find out that they were using traffic summonses as ticker tape.
30 Oct 2012, 15:02 pm
@SuperStirrer-187:
I’m sure a few of them are bloggers here.
30 Oct 2012, 15:05 pm
@Heavens Game-176:
