Flo still struggling with injury
5 Nov 2012
Bath director of rugby Gary Gold says Springbok flank Francois Louw is still sidelined with a neck injury.
Louw has been in impressive form for Bath in the English Premiership and European Cup Challenge over the past fours weeks. He also scored the match-winning tries in their wins over Agen (27-22) and Exeter Chiefs (23-15).
However, Louw suffered a neck injury against Exeter and missed the club’s 16-9 loss to London Welsh on Sunday.
‘He wasn’t fit enough to play for us on Sunday,’ Gold told keo.co.za. ‘He has joined the Springboks and they will reassess him this week.’
Gold added that Louw would be a big boost for the Boks should he recover in time for this weekend’s Test against Ireland. He also believes scrumhalf Ruan Pienaar will be another key player.
Pienaar has scored three tries over the past four weeks for Ulster. He also scored high individual tallies during the club’s wins over Newport Gwent Dragons (21 points via a try, five conversions and two penalties) and Edinburgh (17 points via a try and six conversions) over the last fortnight.
‘Both players have been in great form for their clubs and their experience in the local conditions will help the Boks,’ said Gold.
Pienaar also struggled with injury during the first stanza of Ulster’s win over Edinburgh, but returned to the field after receiving treatment and finished the match without any hassles.

Francois Louw is that damn good. Hes equal to Pocock imo and not far off McCaw. Much better than Warburton and Brussouw.

ireland without ferris, o’brien – we can still smash them

Flo just edges Brussouw based on his size and ball carrying ability. Brussouw for me is still the best poacher in the land.
Imagine a back row with Brussouw and Flo.

@Sasuke-4: I am not calling for his inclusion with the Bokke, but actually stats says Deon Fourie owns Heinrich Brussouw… Fourie is actually the best poacher in the country at the moment, by quite a margin, not saying he’s a Springbok, but let’s get the truth out there…

@Rhys7-1: Why not drop the Rock ( Goes nowhere slowly )

@capebull-6: One question, are Pier Spies, because all you can talk about is Vermeulen’s speed. What about the other areas which is damn good in? Lineouts, defence, poaching, mauling, strong ball carrying? Why only the speed? Because that is all Spies can do, is run.
Vermeulen is the answer to the call we have all shouted. “Get that damn Spies girl of the park!”

@capebull-6: Your hatred for Duane Vermeulen is surpassed only by your manlove for blowup Barbie.

Vermeulen is quick.. Hes just back from injury and has been thrown into the deep end. Look at him after preseason then judge. Also get your head out of Spies’s backside

@Rhys7-10: @goodstuff-7: Vermeulen is slow , He does not enter any ruck , he has terrible hands , his actual tackle count is about 5-6 per game ,had 3 knock -on’s in tests, he carried the ball about 6m in total.
Lets read his stats on Monday, if I am wrong I will admit it. But if you guys really think he played well so far , we are watching different players

Ok the game SA vs AUz we dominated
See the stats below and tell me which one is Vermeulen
Tackle 7/missed 2 vs 3/0
Runs 47 vs 41
Ruck/maul 6 vs 6
Turn over 0 vs 4
Line break 0 vs 2
5 Nov 2012, 15:33 pm
SA vs AB,s
The Rock – goes nowhere slowly
Tackles 7
Runs 2m
Ruck/Maul 1
Turn over 1
Line Break 0
Compare that to AB’s number 6=10 tackles ,7=15 tackles and 8=12 tackles

@capebull-17: Worse than I initially thought….He has swallowed your typing hand as well.

Cape bull says it all.. If Vermeulen was Bulls 8 and Spies was Stormers then you would say that Spies was not good enough in the tight.
Maybe supporting Blue not Pink would do you good

Without FLo there our loose forward combo looks decidedly one dimensional.
And without Bismark there to pick up the slack in the fetching dept we really need a deck player.
They could do a lot worse than Deon. In fact they already have.
5 Nov 2012, 17:34 pm
@capebull-14: you are talking rubbish as always Britney
tackles attempted – 9
missed – 1
possession won – 3
metres gained with ball – 20

@Transformation-21: Shhhh!
5 Nov 2012, 18:04 pm
I see Sean O brien is out of the Irish team….a let off for the Boks as without Flo we are short of the deck player….
I would go with Schalk Brits at 2 to make up for the Flo omission if he doesent make it…
why oh why no D Fourie on tour?
5 Nov 2012, 21:30 pm
What about Brits as a fetcher if Flo is ruled out? Man will be missed!!!
