Thomson, Simmons cited

Thomson, Simmons cited

All Blacks flanker Adam Thomson has been cited for stamping while Wallabies lock Rob Simmons is also in trouble for his tip-tackle on Frenchman Yannick Nyanga.

Thomson was cited for stamping or trampling on the head of Scotland flank Alasdair Strokosch in Sunday’s Test at Murrayfield. Thomson was yellow carded for the offence, but is still expected to fetch a hefty ban.

Simmons has been called to task for a dangerous tip-tackle on Nyanga in the second half of the Wallabies’ clash against France on Saturday.

Hearings for both players will take place in London on Wednesday.

Will be interesting to see if sentences are fair in comparison to if they were Boks doing this – with Mourie and Eales and those types in charge, I doubt it.

@J.B. Cowper-2: What would you say is fair?

Worse than Etzebeth, who got 1 game? Yes.
Worse than Greyling, who got 1 game? Not so sure. The intent and result were less malicious. But it was foot-to-head so I’d be happy with 2-3 games.

Even the french are saying it was not a stomp but careless.
Still i think they should he banned as well for a game,in fact i think Thompson is useless and should never put the black jersey on again.

I would say Brad Thorne getting one week for a vicious spear tackle on John Smit that put him out of rugby for three months is a let-off; Bakkies getting two weeks for legitimate hard entree to a ruck is a travesty; long been two sets of rules – the ghosts of Bok domination for decades in world rugby coming back to haunt them? Who knows why – but it ain’t fair, that’s for sure – didn’t see the Thomson attack, but that Wallabie should go down for this like any Bok would.

Smit played on and recieved the groin strain later in the match.
You cant continue to play with a strain that keeps you out of the game for 3 months.
Of course Thorn did not help but to blame Thorn on an injury that happened after the fact is rather silly.

If so, I hope Hansen sends him home anyway. It’s an embarrassment. to the jersey

    Compared to Saffers stampers

Kankowski got one week for a stamp, with mitigating circumstance being that the opposition were holding his legs.

Rautenbach got three weeks for a really stamp to the face.

Saints we ain’t mate and don’t pretend to be (that would be trully ridiculous) – but the administrators who run and control the world game have a lot to answer for but nobody will ever ask the question because they are too darn politically correct and polite – and South Africans for sure don’t know how to play that particular game of corruption politics, and because of that the Bok team gets systematically reduced by forces off the field – primarily residing in the Antipodes.

as a reminder of how little things have changed as far as the all blacks and rugby is concerned:

England captain Will Carling has branded New Zealand a dirty side
who damaged rugby union’s reputation during their tour of Britain,
    which ended on Saturday.

Carling, writing in the Mail on Sunday newspaper, accused them of
being underhand and employing a win-at-all-costs attitude. “They will
be remembered as a dirty side,” he says. “That is sad for them, but I
think they deserve it. “Some of their play has been beyond the
conventions we obey and I feel more sad about the damage they have
done to rugby’s image. “The All Blacks arrived with a specialist
public relations man to improve their image, but they have failed. The
image that sticks is of a team which were prepared to win at any cost.

“This tour was a great showcase for the game, but how many mothers
will now be saying ‘I don’t want my son to play rugby’?” “They were
quite ready to be underhand if they thought it would serve their
cause. Just look at the number of penalties they conceded. “The Phil
de Glanville and Kyran Bracken incidents went beyond the unwritten
    code among players.”

De Glanville needed 15 stitches in a face wound after being raked
out of a ruck playing for South-West Division against the All Blacks
last month. Bracken had his ankle stamped on by Jamie Joseph during
his debut as England scrum-half last weekend. The All Black flanker
was disciplined internally, but Carling argues strongly for an
independent body to hand to punish offenders in future.

“It is ridiculous to have the tour management involved,” he
says. “Their job is to bring back a successful record. How can they be
objective? “I think there should be an independent body appointed for
each tour and I think the players should be represented on it. “They
are far more honest and aware, and they are far fairer in their
    judgement of other players.”

All Blacks coach Laurie Mains earlier pre-empted Carling’s comments
by dismissing as “nonsense” claims that his side were guilty of
“dirty” play. “There was one episode that everybody agrees was an
accident (De Glanville) and the incident in the Test last week for
which the player (Joseph) has been disciplined,” he said. “But it has
not been an issue on this tour.”

The seething Wallabies accused South Africa of biting, eye-gouging and spitting during a sensational aftermath to Australia’s drought-breaking Tri-Nations victory in Brisbane last night.

The Wallabies won 29-9 but they were furious after forward enforcer Toutai Kefu was stretchered from the ground in the 79th minute with a neck injury following a high tackle from Springbok prop Robbie Kempson.

The barging No.8 was taken to hospital after complaining of numbness in his forearms and fingers and the Wallabies were anxiously awaiting news on the condition of their most damaging runner.

Hooker Brendan Cannon complained of having his shoulder bitten and eyes gouged by a Springboks player while coach Eddie Jones could barely hide his anger after the match.

“It’s really a disgrace for international rugby. It puts a whole slur on the game,” Jones said.

“It needs to be rubbed out of the game. You can’t have those sorts of incidents in international rugby.

“There were cases of players eyes being gouged, spitting on the field and the shot on Toutai.

“They need to have a look at themselves because that sort of rubbish shouldn’t go on.”

Captain George Gregan described the match as “another day at the office playing South Africa” while Cannon said he was frightened during one incident.

“I was actually bitten on my right shoulder and I retaliated and the subsequent retaliation from the South African player was putting his fingers in both my eyes,” Cannon said.

“It was a pretty frightening experience.”

Yep, i have seen that post and asked where i have said the ABs have not done anything dirty. I know they have.
You had a problem with me putting up what Eddie Jones said and the Ozzies yet Bakkies put up a similar post about the ABs and that seems ok.
I know all teams have there bad eggs. But unlike Bakkies who can class all Kiwis as dirty and scum i think different. I know there are always a couple bad eggs in alot of teams, some of them can control themselves and some cant….end off
