Boks to play Scots in 2013

The Springboks will host an understrength Scotland side as well as Samoa and one other Test nation in June next year.
According to the Weekend Argus, the Scotland side that plays South Africa will exclude players selected for the British & Irish Lions tour to Australia. The Lions’ tour is also scheduled to take place in June 2013.
The Boks are also set to tackle Samoa during this period, a side that so nearly knocked them out of the 2011 World Cup at the group stage.
The Boks will face one other opponent next June, but it’s yet to be determined whether it will be Fiji or Italy.

we should take those Samoans to Nelspruit & f.uck them up & drop them @ Debben & tell them to swim home.

They won’t come close.
I see that due to their win last night some one this forum reckon they will beat us.
There are reasons some teams are ranked nr 2 and others closer to 10.
It’s called consistency.

Unless he has had a life altering experience, he normally doesn’t do aggression. Leaves that to us plebs.

True, not the best of years, but it should still be no reason to lose to Samoa.
Irrespective of dips for whatever reason, we still consistently rank in the top 3, my point being that one win here and there against a NH side or one close loss here and there, doesn’t mean Samao are suddenly supposed to beat us

On that argument one should assume the USA should be World champs, or maybe India?
Not everyone in a specific country plays a specific sport.
Point is, good for Samoa in beating Wales yesterday, but they should not beat the AB’s, Boks or even the Aussies ( who probably have less union players than Samoa)

@nortierd-10: agreed, but they have come close on a couple of occassions, and they have beaten the at the time number 2 ranked side in Aussie..
their win over wales, along with argentinas is good for the game, and while its not likely, it could happen one day..

But the stats are enormously stacked against a Country so small that it cannot be seen from the moon.

This is truely David and Goliath stuff.

It could yes, but the day we contemplate a loss against them will be a sad day
Certain sides will play above themselves in a one off game, but even is we are below par we should win.
It’s good that they are performing better, but I doubt they will perform so consistently against the top tier nations that they will ever move into the top 3 ranking

The sad part for them even further is that the majority of those numbers probably dream of playing for the AB’s.
The odds are against them, so I’m not trying to be derogatory against them, just stating my belief that we should beat them based on past performances and logic

Why not use the Samoa test to play the “lightweights”? De Jongh, Aplon, Daniels, Fourie, etc etc That should put the “size” argument to rest.

Ah! So, it will be an under-strength Scots team!
Okay. Funny. I’m having a hard time thinking of more than 2 scots that actually played in the previous 3 B&IL tours. hmmm….

looks like they might finally get an opportunity tio try that running rugby. having england at home first 3 tests forced meyer to be too conservative. am looking forward to seeing the shackles come off. am only hoping meyer remebers what attacking rugby is.

samoa had a chance to win that pool match against the boks – but SA were in no danger of going out of world cup if they had. we’d still have topped the group based on our other results. pity coz we’d have had a rpetty sweet run up the other side of the draw had we managed to end the group second.

yep and they would still be under strengthed.
They dont have the depth as most teams so missing 2-3 players will hurt them.
