Wallabies bounce back
17 Nov 2012
Australia beat England 20-14 at Twickenham having trailed 14-11 at the break.
England had fancied their chances of winning this Test following France’s 33-6 thrashing of the Wallabies in Paris last week, but the visitors dug deep to claim a victory that will ease the pressure on head coach Robbie Deans.
The hosts, who for some reason wore their purple away kit, went into half-time with a three-point lead thanks to a Manu Tuilagi try two minutes before the break. Scrumhalf Danny Care took a quick penalty tap before centre Brad Barritt and flanker Tom Johnson combined to give Tuilagi a 30m run at the line. The Samoan was caught 8m out by Australian halfbacks Berrick Barnes and Nick Phipps, but had the strength to take them along for the ride and plant the ball on the whitewash.
The Wallabies’ try had come four minutes before that, when Phipps broke away and drew the last defender before putting winger Nick Cummins away.
England failed to add to their tally in the second half despite having most of the ball, while Barnes kicked three penalties to secure yet another win for a southern hemisphere side this month.

weak performance, Lancaster is going to be under pressure if this continues

As a Kiwi, I’m amazed at how excited I get for the Wallabies. Heart rate up, on my feet and screaming. Another great SH performance, and good to see the Aussies keeping an ambitious English side out. The English will be disappointed that they turned down some shots at goal when they should probably have known they can’t score tries. Should’ve spoken to John Smit, who tried the same thing last year.

Great win, still some mindless kicking, back line looked better when they actually held the ball, Bokks v England should be good

Hongkongslong, I’d be interested if you now think England should adopt the tactics you recommended for Australia, namely to get to uncontested scrums before half time? That was a hell of a man-shaming your pack took against the first choice Wallaby scrum.

Any one else think Tuilagis try was not a try and Alexanders try was? Aus scrum no pushover …. currently

Well done guys. Didn’t care too much about all the other matches, just wanted the Aussies to stick it to the Poms. And they did. What was it with the Purple Jerseys?
Prediction for next week. Poms to stick it to the SA. Wasn’t over excited with the win over Scotland. Both teams were clueless on attack.

What kind of pullers are running English Rugby.

Great win by Aussie,
specially after last weeks humiliation.

Aussies wont want to lose to any of the home nations. I dont think they will be so bothered about France but in a Lions season they wont wanna lose to any of the 4 teams.
Best Aussie team imo:
15 Beale
14 O’Connor
13 Ashley-Cooper
12 Matt Giteau
11 Digby Ioane
10 Quade Cooper
9 Will Genia
8 Wycliff Palu
7 David Pocock
6 Matt Hodgson
5 James Horwill
4 Sitaleki Timani
3 Ben Alexander
2 Stephen Moore
1 Benn Robinson
16 Tatafu Polota-Nau
17 Sekope Kepu
18 James Slipper
19 Radike Samo
20 Michael Hooper
21 Nick Phipps
22 Berrick Barnes
23 Drew Mitchell
On another note imagine how strong the pacific islanders would be if they had players of origin playing for then such as Tuilagi, Vunipola, Timani, Polota-Nau, Samo, Faainga’s, Ioane, Kepu, Faletau, Tapuai’i, And players such as So’oialo, Rokocoko & Sivivatu when they were at the top of their game.
Of course players are lost by their country of birth aka Botha, Barrit & Waldrom with England.
Strauss & Visser with Ireland and Scotland but these loses are nowhere near as much as what the Pacific Islanders lose.
