All Blacks sweat over Carter
23 Nov 2012
Dan Carter picked up a leg injury at training and could miss the All Blacks’ Test against Wales on Saturday.
All Blacks head coach Steve Hansen confirmed that Carter suffered a ‘leg twinge’ at training on Thursday. The flyhalf’s availability will be confirmed on Friday.
According to reports, a recovery in time for the match in Cardiff this weekend is unlikely.
If Carter is ruled out, Aaron Cruden will step in. However, the All Blacks could have no specialist flyhalf cover because third-choice pivot Beauden Barrett is struggling with a rib injury.

Last night on the news clip Flo and HM looked quite chummy chummy… Could Flo be the long term answer to take on the captaincy?
Could a player playing abroad be the springbok captain? At this point Brussouw wont make the team ahead of Flo, nor Burger… JDVs is a geriatric and surely wont make it until the next world cup… And he’s such a one dimensional player these days, he plays more like de Wet Barry, without the big hits…
23 Nov 2012, 06:37 am
@Jeez-1:
You could do much worse than that! I think Flo could become qutie a good captain. Time to get him back to Newlands too.
What are the options? Bissie? Nothing else available and anyone suggesting Britney would destroy my weekend before a ball is kicked in anger…
23 Nov 2012, 06:58 am
We’re quite used to winning without Carter now, this won’t be a problem.
23 Nov 2012, 06:58 am
Cruden is the goods and even Beaver suffices.
23 Nov 2012, 07:04 am
@Delki-4: only the Abs could win a world cup with their fourth choice 1st 5/8.
Have every confidence in Cruden to do the job if necessary, and if he goes down i guess we would be looking at Weepu as barret is injured..
should still have too much for Wales though
23 Nov 2012, 07:07 am
Poppa I have an inkling Wales will lift substantially for this game and may run us close.
23 Nov 2012, 07:11 am
@Gumboots-2:
Not a big fan of the Bissie idea, dont know why he made vice captain at the sharks…Hopefully Spies wont start for the boks ever again. Thank goodness, Flo, Alberts and Vermeulen clicked so well. If FDP ever gets back he’s probably the go to guy for the captaincy… but thats no long term answer either…
Regarding the amount of rugby the SA players play, if you want to prolong your career, its probably better to play in Europe… Until the boks get central contracts (limiting their workload) having fresh players available in Europe is not a bad thing, but the captain surely must play in SA…
HM really dont have much options for captain, but that shouldnt keep him from dropping JDV! SA rugby really need to learn from past mistakes! The poor backline play will continue with Fossil de Villiers in the mix. Drop the captain if he’s not good enough. Frans Steyn can partner with all these players: JdJ, JJP, Taute, Mapoe, Jordaan. JDV just isnt an outside center…
Flo for captain it is then.
23 Nov 2012, 07:27 am
@Delki-6: yeah they always do, but that is normal for all teams…even the Boks as well…
23 Nov 2012, 07:54 am
@Jeez-1: @Jeez-7: Yes he would be a good choice. Is he a Soutie? I think that makes a difference.
I wouldnt mind our captain playing in Europe, its a professional era and if our best players are in Europe we must pick them.
23 Nov 2012, 07:55 am
good player … no Goosen though! … just love the way he threw the Intercept pass -ala Earl Rose – vs the Scotish – and still got man of the match .. somewhere somehow Carter has some dirt on commentators …
23 Nov 2012, 07:58 am
@Delki-6: @poppa69-8: Always a great rivalry between Wales and All Blacks fuelled on by Kiwi coaches on both sides. Wonder if Wales will allow the Haka this time?
23 Nov 2012, 08:07 am
wales are wack this season…gatland needs to get back there
23 Nov 2012, 08:07 am
@Sasuke-9: haha I think he’s a bilinguallion…
Flo to captain in 2013 would be great…Then the backs can start to settle… Wonder how the players would feel about Flo being captain…?
23 Nov 2012, 08:07 am
@Sasuke-11:
Springboks vs England should very interesting also.
I just voted for Boks by 8-14 points.
23 Nov 2012, 08:10 am
@Transformation-12:
He’s back now Transie.
23 Nov 2012, 08:15 am
@cane-14: England by at least 7, Aust. doing SA no favours by beating Eng, still, it has meant Bigtit hasnt been around… he oft goes missing when his team loses
@Sasuke-11: I think Wales learned not to diss the haka
should be an entertaining game as I think both teams have a similar approach to the game, even before Wales had kiwi coaches.
23 Nov 2012, 08:21 am
@cane-14:
Thanks for that.
23 Nov 2012, 08:24 am
Amla out to the half pint.
Shitpants.
An inauspicious start to the weekend’s sport.
23 Nov 2012, 08:30 am
Amla is no Kallis
23 Nov 2012, 08:30 am
William Webb Ellis was the last Englishman to run with the ball.
23 Nov 2012, 08:32 am
@suffer_guy-10:
True.
Goosen is a nobody in international rugby where as Carter, the whole world rugby community knows that Carter is the best #10,without a doubt.
Only some clowns in SA think Goosen is as good or better than Carter.
Suffer guy, if there was an award for fukwit of the year, you would win it hands down.
23 Nov 2012, 08:35 am
Just like McCaw winning IRB player of the year when injured/rested for most of the year …..
23 Nov 2012, 08:37 am
and Bryce winning ref of the year in NZ … lol, and a month after that he is fired …
23 Nov 2012, 08:37 am
@Hurricane-21: dont waste your bandwidth, this bloke just stepped of the ark with the other jackass..
23 Nov 2012, 08:37 am
@suffer_guy-22:
Yep, thats how good McCaw is and just think, he did not even need to give a gold watch for a favourable outcome.
23 Nov 2012, 08:38 am
NZ not the country with the highest average IQ .. LMAO
23 Nov 2012, 08:38 am
Morning Kiwis
23 Nov 2012, 08:39 am
@poppa69-24:
I think he is lonely. Sitting at home, bars on the windows, barbwire all over his fence.
23 Nov 2012, 08:39 am
@suffer_guy-26: of couse not, its because we let so many saffers live in NZ, they have made our average plummet..
23 Nov 2012, 08:39 am
how good he is? NZ didn’t even win the Tri Nations that year …. also later when he played for Crusaders he did nothing.. he had a decent year end tour and won the player of the year award …
23 Nov 2012, 08:41 am
@Dawn-27: kia ora Dawn.. hoe gaan dit?
@Hurricane-28: hehehe some zoos are sooooo cruel
23 Nov 2012, 08:42 am
Wales have always been tough at home for the AB’s.
They really do seem to grow another leg for the occasion.
But what always amazes me is that after being beaten, despite fronting up out of all expectations, the UK media then focus on extraneous issues after every Wales or England encounter.
Its as if they blame the haka, or some foul play incident or the after match speech as the fundamental reason why NZ somehow stole a win.
23 Nov 2012, 08:43 am
@suffer_guy-26:
Now this is where you fall into the dumb category.
NZ for average IQ rating 100
South Africa rating 72
You really need to keep quiet
23 Nov 2012, 08:44 am
@Hurricane-33: hes just proving the stats you posted..
23 Nov 2012, 08:46 am
@poppa69-31:
Lekker man
It’s Friday
23 Nov 2012, 08:46 am
Maybe you cannibals should concentrate on eating the person’s brains to add to your own … instead of concentrating on the genitals.. just a thought!
23 Nov 2012, 08:47 am
oh so now stats are useful, but when we post stats about NZ’s crime rate being higher than that of SA, you shout rape? – no pun intended!
23 Nov 2012, 08:49 am
@poppa69-34: what Suffer guy doesnt realise is that we are always ahead of him, hes just made it to Friday morning, we’re about to wish friday a fond farewell..
@Dawn-35: sweet, whats doing for the weekend?
23 Nov 2012, 08:49 am
@suffer_guy-37:
Go post your rubbish clown. You have just proven your IQ is less than the average South African.
23 Nov 2012, 08:49 am
@Hurricane-33:
Did you exclude Bryce Lawrence from those calculations
23 Nov 2012, 08:50 am
@suffer_guy-36:
Is that a dietary recommendation from personal experience
23 Nov 2012, 08:50 am
Can’t really talk rugby with the Kiwis at this stage , Boks are sh*te
23 Nov 2012, 08:50 am
@suffer_guy-37: yawn
you use stats like a drunk man uses a lamppost, for support rather than illumination..

Ton up for Biff the Magnificent.
Fighting stuff.
23 Nov 2012, 08:53 am
@Hurricane-45: we were at 110 then whatever moved into the country…
23 Nov 2012, 08:53 am
@suffer_guy-37:
Well of course NZ stats are higher.
We record all crimes, including illegal parking, not just murders, rapes and violent anti social behavior.
23 Nov 2012, 08:53 am
@wp_boytjie-42:
They are not good…..yet
Meaning they are a good team still but not to the standards you expect from a Bok team.
23 Nov 2012, 08:55 am
@poppa69-48:
lol
I now lose an extra 38 cents a pay to fund his no work law
23 Nov 2012, 08:59 am
@Hurricane-51: lmfao…
come on hurri, small price to pay…
that special needs bus just wouldnt be the same without whatever licking the windows….

@The Sharks rugby pedigree is packaged as dog food-58: Should read South African born Australian author….I guess.
@poppa69-56: @Hurricane-57: As I have said before, Suffer_guy, ET and HG: lost property of the sort that no-one wants to claim as belonging to them…..

23 Nov 2012, 09:06 am
@The Sharks rugby pedigree is packaged as dog food-58:
That is sad.
Only heard about his condition yesterday when they were advertising his “last ever book” being on sale.
He was a good story teller.
23 Nov 2012, 09:06 am
Hurricane
I ask for the last and final time
When are you coming to SA
23 Nov 2012, 09:07 am
@Hurricane-61: his most famous book was “the power of one” I believe
23 Nov 2012, 09:07 am
@poppa69-59: Power of One has to be one of strongest novels of our time. (IMHO). Read it as a youngster (teen) and the impact it had on me was unrivalled.
The fella knew he was going soon it seems…hence the rush to complete (and the final greeting in) his last novel.
23 Nov 2012, 09:08 am
@Dawn-63: just waiting on his kevlar vest and security detail…
the armoured car is fuelled and ready to go
23 Nov 2012, 09:08 am
Dont make me ask again
23 Nov 2012, 09:09 am
@poppa69-66:
Pfft
We have enough armoured cars here with full blue light escort.
23 Nov 2012, 09:11 am
Deathly silence
23 Nov 2012, 09:11 am
@The Sharks rugby pedigree is packaged as dog food-65: I think it may push sales of his last novel through the roof… was a prolific writer too…
A SA I actually respect
23 Nov 2012, 09:12 am
@Dawn-63:
Oh sorry.
Yep, we are looking next year around March.
Would go sooner but my job needs to be sorted and a couple of important contracts coming up in beginning of new year. Need to sort that out.
Have still not sorted on what part of SA we will go but love wildlife but dont want to get mauled by stray lions
23 Nov 2012, 09:14 am
@poppa69-64:
ohhh i have seen the movie, so do not need to read the book
23 Nov 2012, 09:14 am
@Dawn-69: is that a prophecy perhaps?
23 Nov 2012, 09:18 am
@Hurricane-71:
You should try the Cape Flats then.
23 Nov 2012, 09:20 am
@Hurricane-71: Simple really
Western Cape and Eastern Cape….
23 Nov 2012, 09:21 am
@Hurricane-71:
Please update so we can organise something.
23 Nov 2012, 09:23 am
@poppa69-70: Say it isn’t so? Suffer_guy and HG aren’t on your list of respected Saffas? And the heavens wept
23 Nov 2012, 09:33 am

Carter’s faking it. Thinks he’s too important for Wales.
23 Nov 2012, 09:44 am
@katman-80:
So you can sense Carter is faking it, yet all the women you have been with….you never noticed?
23 Nov 2012, 09:45 am
@The Sharks rugby pedigree is packaged as dog food-46: Hello Pedigreed lady.Nervous about tomorrow.
Have a good day
23 Nov 2012, 09:49 am
@Hurricane-81: Hey, maybe some of them faked it. Guess I’ll never know.
But that sure beats having to tap her on the shoulder and let her know you’re done so she can get on with her day. I bet that’s no fun, hey?
23 Nov 2012, 09:53 am
@Dawn-79: Hi Dawn.In case I missed you
on the other thread(which now appears to be dead) Hello and have a great day.
23 Nov 2012, 09:53 am
@katman-83:
True, still better when your own hand fakes it, suppose thats no fun either.
23 Nov 2012, 09:54 am
@Hurricane-85: No, you see, that’s just not up to standard. I’m afraid you killed this particular conversation with mediocrity.
23 Nov 2012, 09:56 am
@ryecatcher-84:
Likewise!
23 Nov 2012, 09:58 am
@katman-86:
I take it you wont be coming to drinks with Hurricane then!
23 Nov 2012, 09:59 am
@ryecatcher-82: I too am a little edgy about this one. Our forwards should be strong enough..but I worry about all this talk of Meyer telling Lambie to ‘play his own game’ etc etc.
23 Nov 2012, 10:00 am
@katman-86:
lol
23 Nov 2012, 10:00 am
@Dawn-88:
he will be there if i am in town, he just could not help himself.
23 Nov 2012, 10:10 am
@Dawn-88: @Hurricane-91: No, I’ll be there if the invitation stands. Someone’s got to look out for the tourists.
23 Nov 2012, 15:08 pm
@katman-83: by “she can get on with her day” you mean she can carry on grazing in the fields with the other sheep?
23 Nov 2012, 15:31 pm
@suffer_guy-10: Absolutely agree, Carter is not in the level of Goosen. Just like Messi is nowhere near the level of Rooney.
23 Nov 2012, 15:35 pm
With current state of Welsh team the visitors should win by 20+, Carter or no Carter.
23 Nov 2012, 21:31 pm
@Nils-95:
Going to be without him.
See he has withdrawn
24 Nov 2012, 09:34 am
