Carter blow for ABs

Dan Carter will miss the All Blacks’ Tests against Wales because Achilles injury.

All Blacks head coach Steve Hansen believed the flyhalf suffered a leg injury at training on Thursday. However, further medical examinations revealed that Carter suffered an Achilles injury.

This means Aaron Cruden will start at 10 against Wales. Beauden Barrett passed a late fitness test after struggling with a rib injury all week and will find his place on the bench.

The duo should also feature in the match-day squad against England as Carter is likely to be sidelined next week too.

‘We got him scanned with an ultrasound and an MRI this morning and there is a bit of swelling there so we’ve taken the precaution to withdraw him from the game,’ said Hansen. ‘It looks like there’s probably a 50-50 or maybe 60-40 chance [he'll miss the England test] so we’ll just wait and see what happens.’

Had an awesome season. The Carter and Mccaw combo has been as deadly as ever

It is impressive the way most of the the top teams coddle their players these days rather than pump in pain killers and squeeze an extra game out of some poor sap who ends up with worse injuries than he deserved.

Carter will play through to the next world cup via player management that is organized at all levels of NZ rugby.

The 6 nations purse string holders have the flip side view of player management, which doesn’t include test rugby as a priority.

The All Blacks definitely set the blueprint regarding player contracting and management.
Strange all the rest still lags so far behind.

That would be disappointing for me as a Kiwi.

Stephen Jones would find some way of explaining it as a weak selection decision by the inferior body of people who inhabit NZ
