Tonga shock Scotland
24 Nov 2012
Tonga recorded a massive upset as they beat Scotland 21-15 in Aberdeen.
Tonga scored two tries in the second half through lock Lua Lokotui and wing Fetu’u Vainikolo to overturn a 6-3 deficit at the break. Flyhalf Fangatapu Apikotoa also added 11 points with the boot via a conversion and three penalties to seal the game.
Scotland scored all their points via flyhalf Greig Laidlaw, who slotted five three-pointers.
Tonga received two yellow cards during the game, including flank Nili Latu Langilangi’s sin-binning in the 68th minute. But the Pacific Islanders held on to win the game.
Scotland recently fell below Samoa on the IRB rankings and could find themselves lower than 10th place next week.

@Gumboots-2: No, really, can’t you think about any other really unexpected results this year apart from Scots winning in Australia and Argentina drawing with South Africa? Maybe only the upcoming Samoa win vs France.

There were some massive hits in this match!
Tonga’s number 8 is huge talent, breaking through the Scotts pack at will.
