Hore set for hefty ban
26 Nov 2012
New Zealand hooker Andrew Hore has been cited for an off-the-ball incident which subsequently hospitalised Wales lock Bradley Davies.
Hore hit Davies off the ball during the initial stages of last Saturday’s Test in Cardiff. The incident was missed by matchday officials, but Hore has now been cited and looks likely to receive a lengthy suspension.
The time and date of the hearing, before the IRB’s appointed independent judicial officer, have yet to be fixed.
All Blacks coach Steve Hansen expects the hooker to be sidelined for some time. Hansen did not say as much, but has already called for a replacement ahead of the coming Test against England.
Dane Coles is expected to start at Twickenham.

Bakkies I expect a strongly worded missive for you to the IRB on my desk before the start of play tomorrow.
3 Dec 2012, 17:34 pm
ok i’ve just had a look
its not a bad draw considering the two top seeds are sa and samoa.
this time round we could win or lose to them and still go through at least.
the dirt trackers should easily dispatch of americas 2 and asia.
3 Dec 2012, 17:34 pm
Australia
England
Wales
Now add Fiji to that list (Oceana qualifier) and this is a proper pool of death.
3 Dec 2012, 17:35 pm
@willievz-7251:
That’s if you only consider batsmen. Besides, Lara had the opportunity to play far more tests than say Sobers, Haynes or even Viv Richards.
3 Dec 2012, 17:35 pm
@willievz-7258:
Lovely fella when sober. Did you meet him in his bleached blonde, diamond stud, fat boy years or later in his career? I think he was a chain smoker throughout his career.

3 Dec 2012, 17:37 pm
@David-7263: Regarding number of tests, you can argue both ways.
The modern game has a much higher workload and more chances to underperform (as Ponting illustrated).
If Mike Hussey retired after say 20 tests, many would have included him in an All Time XI.
3 Dec 2012, 17:38 pm
@gunther-7265: Indeed. Facelifts, weight loss, botox, his little hair implants and a healthy lifestyle
He must be miserable as hell.

The biggest cricket wanker I’ve ever met is Andrew Strauss.

@David-7257:
not at all…
just illustrating why i’m not surprised that gary is doing so well… he is a deep thinking wise soul and very focussed determined individual in a softly spoken way… and he REALLY knows his cricket…
i’ve watched him coach streetkids with his foundation… and it is amazing how he got those kids to respond… so no wonder that he can get experienced cricketers to up their game…
he’s not the kind who has to turn the air blue to get his message across…
when they say gary gave it to them full-bore… i’ll bet he never raised his voice once…
3 Dec 2012, 17:40 pm
@ufo-7244:
absolutely, agreed.

argies if they’re not careful could lose to tonga.
personally i prefer it if the keewees dont have any real competition in the group stage. it’ll leave them undercooked for the knockouts.

@ufo-7244:
Boeta Dippenaar stands out for me from the crop of 10 years back.
Such a nice guy, I remember thinking he’s the type that can come visit my daughter without me having to pull out the shotgun

@nortierd-7283:
he was/is a good guy too… but very very reserved… (at that time anyway…and was younger) and very hard to chat to… but absolutely a good guy…
two of the biggest chops i’ve ever met anywhere were in that team too…
but shall remain nameless…

@ryecatcher-7289: Your house sold? Or you have decided not to move?
3 Dec 2012, 18:01 pm
@ufo-7286:
I’ll tell you who I thought were the biggest to chops I met then, Boucher nr1 and Gibbs nr 2
They were blaming Eng for messing up their WC, due to the refusal to go play in Zim, but conveniently forgot the loss vs Windies that was our fault.
Just the language and demeanor put me off
3 Dec 2012, 18:03 pm
@David-7257: One “T” too much in your question
3 Dec 2012, 18:04 pm
@The Sharks rugby pedigree is packaged as dog food-7293: Mercifully no.Lots of pressure from the kids though
3 Dec 2012, 18:08 pm
@ryecatcher-7292:
you’re always impeccably behaved sir… no need to apologise for anything…
always well thanks… i live by the truth that ‘attitude is a choice’…!!
@nortierd-7294:
boucher and kallis were okay… always been very tight and not to fussed about anything or anyone too much out of their circle of mates… hard to get to know but not bad guys…
i like herchelle… not the most complicated guy you’ve ever met and doesn’t (or didn’t…) think too much beyond today… but had no agendas or hidden motives about anything… wouldn’t hurt a fly and one of the few cricketers who in whatever company or situation, would come up to you and ask how you were… every time… will always have lot of time for herch….
3 Dec 2012, 18:09 pm
@nortierd-7294:
but didn’t see or hear that at the time…
3 Dec 2012, 18:13 pm
@ufo-7297:
Not going to disagree
Probably caught them at a bad time
They are just human after all
