Hore set for hefty ban
26 Nov 2012
New Zealand hooker Andrew Hore has been cited for an off-the-ball incident which subsequently hospitalised Wales lock Bradley Davies.
Hore hit Davies off the ball during the initial stages of last Saturday’s Test in Cardiff. The incident was missed by matchday officials, but Hore has now been cited and looks likely to receive a lengthy suspension.
The time and date of the hearing, before the IRB’s appointed independent judicial officer, have yet to be fixed.
All Blacks coach Steve Hansen expects the hooker to be sidelined for some time. Hansen did not say as much, but has already called for a replacement ahead of the coming Test against England.
Dane Coles is expected to start at Twickenham.

Where does Three Day Eventing come on your list?
4 Dec 2012, 00:34 am
Good grief, this thread has hit 7,000 and counting…….
4 Dec 2012, 00:37 am
I have not even mentioned the weekends rugby !!
Delighted that so many of you enjoyed the English game!!
4 Dec 2012, 00:38 am
@skopdiekan-7501:
Yet you can combine all their prize money they made in all their years of jumping and running about and they don’t match what Tiger Woods makes in a bad year.
Tell him he chose the wrong sport.
You can’t compare, each are champions in their own right.
4 Dec 2012, 00:38 am
please Michael Schumaker would dissolve into a heap against any long distance or middle distance athlete in relative fitness level comparison..
Also Dale Steyn or Kurtley Ambrose would disintegrate if they had to step into a ring with Tyson or Ali or Frazier or Lewis or Haggler or Leonard
Yet if these boxers had to face one of their fast balls on a cricket pitch they’d swat it with their open palm like the kindergarten sport it is in comparison…
Seems you can’t fathom the difference between what is true high courage high tenacity and high effort and discipline sporting code from these other soft sports that the likes of Shane Warne and his ilk get ordained as overrated heroes for nothing.
Put Shane Warne in the ring with Mike Tyson see who sh’ts his pants first Shane with Mike in the ring or Mike facing Shane with a skittle sticks bat in his hand.

Time for bed…..

@carol-7504:
Welcome back and many congratulations on your team.
They certainly caused a stir here

@skopdiekan-7506:
Mike Tyson would be terrified if he met Shane Warne these days…… That botox and the hair transplant combined with a dodgy fake tan and the spanx gut restraining pants are truly scary!!
4 Dec 2012, 00:43 am
@nortierd-7508:
I had a quick scan of the comments and it was lovely to see so many positive vibes towards us Pom’s!!
Now to bed!
4 Dec 2012, 00:43 am
Now you telling me money makes a sporting hero in your eyes..
soft sportsmen like Woods or Warne or Schumaker and Kallis against Tyson and Ali and Usain Bolt or Kenenise Bekele
Skittle sticks and golfers are bloody softies .. the true athletes and the real hard men of sport are the real McKoy
You reckon the ancient Greeks would have watched these poeftas fannying around an 18 hole golf course or these poncefied skittle sticks softies chucking leather balls at some wooden sticks and a wooden bat.. they would have died laughing at the sheer ludicrousness of the idiotic pantomime…
4 Dec 2012, 00:47 am
@skopdiekan-7506:
Shane would dismiss him in no time, but won’t scare or hurt him.
Dale Steyn on the other hand would hurt him more than any opponent has.
150km per hour against the head or body, it’s no joke.
I’ve been saying from the beginning, it’s pointless to compare the merits of sportsmen in different disciplines, but it’s not wrong to give credit to those who have excelled at the highest level in their respective fields.
If you don’t like a sport, it’s fine, no one likes all the sports there is, but it’s not necessary to dismiss the achievements of those athletes.
4 Dec 2012, 00:51 am
@skopdiekan-7511:
Ha ha, well said.
No, I’m not saying money is the main prize, I’m saying, Tiger chose golf and did very well.
They get paid more money than athletes, not his fault.
Those same Greeks who wrestled nude and banned women from the arena?
Sounds pooftah to me as well
4 Dec 2012, 00:55 am
skittle sticks and golf are soft sports
boxing and athletics and weight lifting and tennis and gymnastics and some other disciplines are far more strenuous and demanding from both a physical and courageous and fitness level input … far far more.. no comparison in terms of sheer tenacity, courage and determination, beside psychological stamina and will.
4 Dec 2012, 00:56 am
@nortierd-7500:
Good post. One should not really compare different sports and say the one is better than the other.
Just for interest sake though, I did read an article on the Web in which different sports were rated in terms of : ENDURANCE, STRENGTH, POWER, SPEED, AGILITY, FLEXIBILITY, NERVE, DURABILITY, HAND-EYE COORDINATION and ANALYTIC APTITUDE in order to try and find the “hardest” sport.
The “winners” were:
1. Boxing
2. Ice Hockey
3. American football
4. Basket ball
5. Wrestling (amateur)
Fishing and billiards came last
It was no “scientific test” and it was probably biased in favour of “American” sports but it probably gives some idea.

g’night
4 Dec 2012, 01:00 am
@Robzim-7515: there you go where did skittle sticks and golf feature.. 3rd and 4th last?
Track and Field way ahead of basketball
4 Dec 2012, 01:02 am
@skopdiekan-7517:
Golf was very low down the list (marginally ahead of cheerleading) while they did not include cricket in the list of 60 sports rated.
4 Dec 2012, 01:04 am
@Robzim-7518:
Lol, all this American propaganda, don’t listen to them.
Good night Skop
Rob, I guess they weren’t talking about Flinthoff, lol, the boxer Skop, not the skittle stick player
4 Dec 2012, 01:08 am
@Robzim-7518: the yanks don’t even recognize skittle sticks as a bone fide sport it don’t even register as a sporting code in their book its just one of those weird toff nosed pom pom pastimes that the mad bulldogs do when they get bushwhacked in the midday sun in the colonies … and we rave about it like its seriously got some relevance in the world of inane irrational sport codes.
Least the yanks got some idea about what comprises sport and what don’t.
4 Dec 2012, 01:10 am
@skopdiekan-7520:
Yep, they also rate hot dog eating.
We must aspire to be like them
4 Dec 2012, 01:14 am
@nortierd-7519:
hehe.. maybe they had Mike Tyson on the panel and no sane peson in the world will argue with him.
@skopdiekan-7520:
Have you ever seen Adam Gilchrist hitting a ball coming at 150 km’s an hour at him into the stands fo a six? .
4 Dec 2012, 01:17 am
@Robzim-7522:
And aiming for the gold bar, remember that Wanderes test?
4 Dec 2012, 01:18 am
@Robzim-7522: those Cuban baseball stars will hit Adam Gilchrist along with his bat out the ground for a home run.. and whats more is they got a far smaller target area to connect with on that small round surface they got to aim with…
Yankee Baseball star is way more focused and skillful than any pom pom skittle sticks player any day.. and more athletic and fit and strong too.
night night .. out

@skopdiekan-7524:
Good night, nice chat, thanks I enjoyed it
4 Dec 2012, 01:22 am
@nortierd-7523:
Ja, he was one hell of a player.
My daughter just came back from the Lady Gaga concert and said it was the greatest ever (and she has seen quite a few). Now I would not go near the stadium to see her play. It shows you…… we all have our own preferences. Same with sport.
I am out..Good night.

Proteas’ ICC Test Player Rankings:
A vindication of SA’s present #1 Test team ranking-
1. #1 bowler
2. #1 all rounder
3. #3 batsman
4. Only team with 3 batsmen in the top 10 rankings
5. Only team with 3 bowlers in the top 10 rankings
6. Together with England, only teams with 2 all rounders in top 10 rankings
Lekkerrrrrr, Proteas, and well done!
PS: & considering his record at both India & SA, Gary Kirsten probably the current top cricket coach as well
hmmm… & come to think, considering his leadership durability & his team’s recent performance, Graeme Smith is probably up there with the best of Test captains
sjoe … Ali Bacher is correct: this Proteas team is probably (on aggregate) a better outfit than that great Springbok cricket team of 1970 that Ali led, and which whitewashed (errr … excuse the pun, wnnb) the Aussies 4-0
and lastly, & perhaps most significantly, JACQUES KALLIS, a member of the current Proteas team, {together with Donald Bradman, Garfield Sobers, Muttiah Muralitharan, & Adam Gilchrist} is probably one of the 5 greatest cricketers ever!
We saffas must enjoy this era – sadly, it too will pass, probably with the retirement of the great Kallis…
4 Dec 2012, 06:31 am
@Angostura-7530:
Some other stats I was not aware of…
In the last 6 years SA never lost a series away from home, winning 8 and drawing 2. Also, in the last 4 years we have beaten England and Australia in the same year twice!
PS At home we are 6 wins, 3 draws and 1 loss in the last 6 years…

Muttiah Muralitharan = chucker ….
4 Dec 2012, 07:56 am
@Slartibartfast-7531:
that is amazing and i certainly wasn’t aware of just how good they have been in the last 6 years as well jow dominant there form over this time.
although it has to be said they do still need to shake off their chokers tag which, considering the T20 WC, they are still firmly holding onto. BUT, i would like to see them do it fairly and above board, unlike the ball sacks.
4 Dec 2012, 07:59 am
@i_love_u_bakkiesbotha-7535:
as well jow dominant there form over this time = as well how dominant their form over this time

But yes, they have achieved all this with little fanfair.

the closest i’ve come to feeling like a keewee… not a nice feeling…
the T20 WC brought all those memories crashing back.
4 Dec 2012, 08:21 am
Ok today I try for the 8000. Without hope there is nothing.
Forgot to cancel my alarm for the cricket this morning……..The downside to finishing the Aussies off a day early I guess.

Downside? Thought you will wake up and be happy all over again…
4 Dec 2012, 08:33 am
I am 100% with Skop here but to add…
Cricket is a sport no longer… Like cycling.
It is tainted beyond repair except in India.
South Africa may have accomplished something “special” in Aus, but how can anyone guarantee that the result is an honest result.
The problem is no-one can… Cricket is run by bookies…
Nothing but WWE in white kit, wielding willows and chucking balls…
Cricket is no sport worthy of the name… A farce
4 Dec 2012, 08:34 am
@WP-Forever-7542:
You may just be right.
Rocky Marciano for me.
49 fights, 43 KOs, 0 losses.
4 Dec 2012, 08:38 am
@Heavens Game-7544:
Yeah you’re right.
Aus were paid a massive amount to throw that last test.
Ricky received the most for being willing to throw his wicket in the last test he’ll ever play after 17 years.
Ridiculous statement.
4 Dec 2012, 08:38 am
@WP-Forever-7542: Rubbish…
Hard? I give you hard – How about a few Olympic sports… WInter Pentathlon, Winter Biathlon, Gymnastics, Decathlon… Just as a sample
Pure? I give you pure… Gymnastics – Nadia Comaneci, Perfect 10, just one example.
Bullshitting Wikimaniac…
4 Dec 2012, 08:40 am
@WP-Forever-7542:
I agree- it’s man against man- no cheap punches from behind or picking on a smaller chap – you either donner the other oke or he donners you, no bullshit about it.
4 Dec 2012, 08:40 am
@John Galt-7546: As ridiculous as SA losing to Holland… In cricket?
As ridiculous as the Captain of SA corrupting the SA National side and being one of the leaders in Cricket corruption worldwide?
Yeah. Ridiculous innit?
Cricket as a sport died for me then… It is dead to me now.
4 Dec 2012, 08:41 am
@John Galt-7545:
Absolutely amazing. The people’s champion.
His real name was Rocco Machegiano – but the Yank ring announcer at one of his first fights couldn’t pronounce his surname, so they went with “Rocky Marciano”.
At his peak, though, Mike Tyson was a pleasure to watch in the ring. What a devastating fighter.
