Hore set for hefty ban
26 Nov 2012
New Zealand hooker Andrew Hore has been cited for an off-the-ball incident which subsequently hospitalised Wales lock Bradley Davies.
Hore hit Davies off the ball during the initial stages of last Saturday’s Test in Cardiff. The incident was missed by matchday officials, but Hore has now been cited and looks likely to receive a lengthy suspension.
The time and date of the hearing, before the IRB’s appointed independent judicial officer, have yet to be fixed.
All Blacks coach Steve Hansen expects the hooker to be sidelined for some time. Hansen did not say as much, but has already called for a replacement ahead of the coming Test against England.
Dane Coles is expected to start at Twickenham.

Finally!!!!!!!!!
4 Dec 2012, 10:36 am
@Robzim-7598:
Lance Armstrong is an exception- he started off as a triathlete who as a 15 year old kid could hold his own with the top pro’s on the Triathlon circuit at the time (Dave Scott, Mark Allen, Scott Molina etc) – he was “clean” at the time as his single parent mother could certainly not afford drugs- and then he went on to become the greatest Tour de France rider ever and the richest cyclist in history- and then disaster struck.
4 Dec 2012, 10:40 am
@Robzim-7598: In terms of competition, probably….but to me, a better sportsman would be one who is rounded and excels at various disciplines.
A pure boxer would suck at wrestling, or a pure runner can’t swim 1km…I far prefer being all round
4 Dec 2012, 10:41 am
@Robzim-7590:
ok, not bad i must admit but did she beat real title contenders on her way to the top? just curious because with the amount of manipulation for hype and profit that goes on between the various associations and sports broadcasters it wouldn’t surprise me if she was promoted softly.
just look at the palookas SBW has beaten on his way to the ‘undisputed’ heavy weght champion of nz title… what a larf…
4 Dec 2012, 10:45 am
@WP-Forever-7597:
Not at work thank you WP.
4 Dec 2012, 10:46 am
So what is the best all-round sport?
4 Dec 2012, 10:47 am
@WP-Forever-7591:
for me some things are sacred and should always be.
a woman fighting is not one of those, but hey, thats just me.
@Atreides-7595:
i’d take a licking and keep on ticking…
@Atreides-7594:
huge respect for mma
@Robzim-7598:
disagree if your implying it takes a lesser athlete to make it in mma as opposed to a single discipline like boxing. if thats what you mean by an all rounder not being good enough?
4 Dec 2012, 10:48 am
@Atreides-7603:
On a personal level i agree- far less overuse injuries in triathlon training then in pure running training and also less boring
4 Dec 2012, 10:48 am
I think rugby players are pretty much the top all-round athletes?
4 Dec 2012, 10:49 am
Or mountain climbing!
4 Dec 2012, 10:50 am
Water polo and water hockey also up there.
4 Dec 2012, 10:50 am
@i_love_u_bakkiesbotha-7607: Yea, it doesn’t work that way. Guys start training MMA at 12 or 13 already and work their way through the amateurs up to the pros….very few rejects from other disciplines get very far – James Toney tried his hand at it and got submitted in just over a minute lol
4 Dec 2012, 10:52 am
i see siya kolisi has caused a twitter frenzy for tweeting from circumcision school!
#blaadyagent
4 Dec 2012, 10:53 am
@i_love_u_bakkiesbotha-7604:
I am not sure about the quality of her opposition.
SBW can only fight what they put in front of him and there appears to be no better heavyweights in NZ at the time who is interested to fight for that title. Its very much the same here in SA- we also have no heavyweights of real class with the White Buffalo probably the best of a terribly bad bunch.
4 Dec 2012, 10:53 am
Rock On Dudes.
7614.
4 Dec 2012, 10:54 am
@WP-Forever-7609: I think the elite guys in most sorts disciplines would be pretty incredible athletes…rugby, soccer, athletics, swimming, F1, boxing, mma etc…doubt you could single out 1 single discipline as head and shoulder above the rest
4 Dec 2012, 10:55 am
@Atreides-7603:
agreed.
single discipline combat sports are less a reflection of the closest one can get to a ‘fight to the death anything goes’ type of contest between two individuals.
if this was two guys in the street, no holds barred, there’d be no rules determining what you’re permitted to do in order to beat your opponent, who quite possibly would be trying to kill you.
ditto for long gone cavemen… just ask a neanderthal…
4 Dec 2012, 10:56 am
@KWAGGA ROBERTSE-7600:
hehe
you keep going
put in an ’80 minute performance’
4 Dec 2012, 10:58 am
@i_love_u_bakkiesbotha-7607:
I mean that most people would start out as either boxers, wrestlers, runners, cyclists etc.. and that the one’s who excel most and realise they can make it to the top level (the big money) will stay on at that discipline while the one’s who are not good enough to reach the top might go into more all round sports (triathlon, mma. etc).
There is no money in mma in comparison to boxing.
4 Dec 2012, 10:58 am
@Transformation-7613:
that boy’s got so much to learn…
4 Dec 2012, 11:00 am
@i_love_u_bakkiesbotha-7617: That’s what i love about MMA….you train to be effective standing up, in a clinch or on the ground
4 Dec 2012, 11:00 am
@i_love_u_bakkiesbotha-7617:
” just ask a neanderthal…”
Go on then bakkies,
Ask yourself.
4 Dec 2012, 11:01 am
@Robzim-7614:
no farkin way can you compare fransie botha to sbw, no farkin way.
the standard of nz boxing and the quality of its top contenders definitely lower by that definition.
4 Dec 2012, 11:03 am
@Atreides-7616:
You are probably quite right. Peter Kirsten studied Phys ed at Stellenbosch university with a mate of mine. Apparently he was by far the best at all the sports they had to master during the first year except for swimming which he could hardly manage. However, by the end of the year he was also the second best swimmer in the group with only Greg Carswell (springbok wimmer) being able to beat him at swimming.

Three threads for the kiwi thugs wrapped in black
Seven for the pasty poms on their isle of mud
Nine for the convicts wandering the vast outback
One for the leaping buck with its deep green blood
In the land of the springbok where the sky is wide
One Thread to rule them all, One Thread to find them
One Thread to bring them all and in the darkness bind them!
In the land of the springbok where the sky is wide…
4 Dec 2012, 11:07 am
@Robzim-7624: Yea wasn’t Herschelle Gibbs supposed to be awesome at rugby too? And I read somewhere that Jeff Wilson could have made the black caps but chose rugby
Some serious specimens out there
4 Dec 2012, 11:07 am
comparing which sports are ‘best’ is like comparing favourite colours… it’s all about personal preference and there are no wrong opinions…
same with sports stars from various disciplines…
however… one guy worth mentioning is…
ryan sands…
he cleans up the ‘uba tuff exotic extreme ultras’ around the world
and makes winning them look ridiculously easy…
sometimes see him training on the mountain… ‘just’ keeping fit by running the length and breath of the mountain…
a unique athlete at the very peak of his discipline…
4 Dec 2012, 11:07 am
@i_love_u_bakkiesbotha-7623:
Lets wait for them to fight.
There is no doubt that Fransie Botha was at his peak much better than SBW as a boxer. But SBW is now in the prime of his life while Fransie is old, fat, overweight, out of shape,has taken too much punishment etc..
I would say Fransie is the favourite but only marginally.
4 Dec 2012, 11:08 am
@katman-7625: Can’t wait for this one….

4 Dec 2012, 11:10 am
@Robzim-7619:
fair enough, i hear you.
i will say though, tyson, lewis,ali.. whoever.. would have gotten their arses handed to them in a cage.
@Atreides-7621:
yip
@cane-7622:
and good day (night) to you too, caner
you joke..?.. you should see me on a bad day..
4 Dec 2012, 11:10 am
@Atreides-7626:
Herchelle was possibly the best school flyhalf i have ever seen. He could do everything including landing drops from his own half of the field. He played SA schools at rugby, cricket and soccer– held the 100m sprinting record at school.
Too much talent for his own good.
4 Dec 2012, 11:12 am
@Robzim-7628: I’m backing Botha.
Saw him sparring with a mate of mine, he’s still scary!
4 Dec 2012, 11:13 am
@Robzim-7631: He’s as good at partying as he is at sport!
4 Dec 2012, 11:13 am
@Atreides-7629: Indeed. It’s something to look forward to.
4 Dec 2012, 11:15 am
@Robzim-7628:
yip
deifinitely will be one worth staying up for.
personally i think botha’s got a much harder punch and if he connects sonny boy hard enough to stun him, sonny’s gonna be in trouble… big trouble.
ja, fransie just.
4 Dec 2012, 11:15 am
many cricket/rugby stars who have met and/or played or messed around with herchelle will tell you he is one of the most naturally gifted sportsmen they have ever met… and could and would have excelled at any sport to which he set his mind… and therein lies the rub… he didn’t set his mind to cricket or rugby as much as others did… because he hardly ever had to put any effort into it, it all just came so naturally and easy to him…
4 Dec 2012, 11:16 am
@ufo-7627:
Ryan’s girlfriend is not bad either.
She finished the Cape Epic MTB race.
And she is verrry hot
4 Dec 2012, 11:16 am
@ufo-7627:
Hedgie’s a monster, yes.
4 Dec 2012, 11:17 am
@KWAGGA ROBERTSE-7601: Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. The unfairness of it all
4 Dec 2012, 11:17 am
@Atreides-7632:
Botha is going to pummel Sonny Bill.
4 Dec 2012, 11:18 am
Cheers all, I am out… nice chatting, got to work a bit now.
4 Dec 2012, 11:19 am
@Robzim-7637:
she is hot… have met her too… but quite full of herself…
@WP-Forever-7638:
hedgie…??
not on nickname terms with him at all…
4 Dec 2012, 11:20 am
@Robzim-7641:
cheers rob
4 Dec 2012, 11:20 am
@Atreides-7626:
I think Wilson did actually play for the Black Caps a few times, but I could be wrong.
4 Dec 2012, 11:21 am
@WP-Forever-7640: Reminds me of one of the verses of Jeremy Taylor’s “Ag pleez deddy”
Ag pleez Deddy won’t you take us to the wrestling?
We wanna see an ou called Sky Hi Lee
When he fights Willie Liebenberg
There’s gonna be a murder
‘Cos Willie’s gonna donner that blerrie yankee
4 Dec 2012, 11:22 am
@David-7644:

4 Dec 2012, 11:23 am
@katman-7645:

4 Dec 2012, 11:24 am
