Hore set for hefty ban
26 Nov 2012
New Zealand hooker Andrew Hore has been cited for an off-the-ball incident which subsequently hospitalised Wales lock Bradley Davies.
Hore hit Davies off the ball during the initial stages of last Saturday’s Test in Cardiff. The incident was missed by matchday officials, but Hore has now been cited and looks likely to receive a lengthy suspension.
The time and date of the hearing, before the IRB’s appointed independent judicial officer, have yet to be fixed.
All Blacks coach Steve Hansen expects the hooker to be sidelined for some time. Hansen did not say as much, but has already called for a replacement ahead of the coming Test against England.
Dane Coles is expected to start at Twickenham.

@Robzim-11850: Ha ha, what a groovy number. Nico Carstens was great. I remember them hauling him out as a guest performer at the Houtsok concert in 1990 – even back then it was super retro and ironic.
And Al Debbo was a legend.
11 Dec 2012, 15:09 pm
@playtheball-11853: He also runs a recording studio – I’ve worked with him many times. He’s done some pretty funny voice-overs for me.

I went to sooooooooooooooooooooooo many of their 70′s shows at the Baxter when I was teen.
In fact, I used to go a few times a week at one stage – great show at that stage. (The 90′s – early ones)

@Gumboots-11826: Actually, some of Steve’s “earlier” stuff is pretty good.
Lyrics wise.
Stuff like “Deur my vingers” in Afrikaans, and “Rosie (1944)” in English.
Somewhere along the road he took a wrong turn, and never found his way home…

@katman-11872: I’m a freelancer… went on holiday to France in September. So while I’m at Mont San Michele I get an sms from a traffic lady who shall remain nameless. “I need this and this job and I need it by tomorrow morning” I sms back, “But I emailed you and told you I’m not in the country until the 17th. I’ll be happy to do it then.” Her reply: “Oh for F.UCK’s sakes, how inconvenient. I suppose I’ll have to find someone else then.”
It was then that I knew I’m somewhat gatvol of what I do.

MCauleys workshop was great- they used to have a huge hit with “Why cant it rain”. Another good local one from that era was “Omega Limited’. They were probably the first of the “Bellville Bands’.
Another great SA local band from very long ago was the Flames
Check this clip from their reunion concert—the bloke who starts to sing at about 1.45 is Blondie Chaplin- one of the best SA musicians ever—up their with Rabin, Dave Matthews etc..He played with the Beach boys and even Led Zeppelin. I think he was even an official member of the beach boys at a time.

@Robzim-11884: Yup. I remember the Flames somewhere from my youth….Folks probably had the LP back in the day
Reading those names you put out there, and adding folk like Zane Adams etc, it is clear that SA has produced some world class muzos.
Spoiling this of course, is the coven of fuckwits of the Soft Shoe sort.
