Hore set for hefty ban

Hore set for hefty ban

New Zealand hooker Andrew Hore has been cited for an off-the-ball incident which subsequently hospitalised Wales lock Bradley Davies.

Hore hit Davies off the ball during the initial stages of last Saturday’s Test in Cardiff. The incident was missed by matchday officials, but Hore has now been cited and looks likely to receive a lengthy suspension.

The time and date of the hearing, before the IRB’s appointed independent judicial officer, have yet to be fixed.

All Blacks coach Steve Hansen expects the hooker to be sidelined for some time. Hansen did not say as much, but has already called for a replacement ahead of the coming Test against England.

Dane Coles is expected to start at Twickenham.

    EP Kings CEO resigns

    December 11th, 2012 by Morné
EP Rugby CEO, Mr Anele Pamba, has
resigned from his post with immediate
effect. This news has come as a
tremendous shock to the staff and
    Executive of EP Rugby.

    Release
Mr Pamba was the EPRU Deputy President
in 2008 and agreed to take up the interim
CEO position in 2009, up until such a time
when the Kings gained ascendency into
Super Rugby: a goal which was attained a
    couple of months ago.

    EPRU president Cheeky Watson paid
tribute to Mr Pamba’s contribution over
the years “of course this decision comes as
a shock to many of us, and certainly
    Anele’s (Mr Pamba’s) enthusiasm and
dedication will be sorely missed. However,
we cannot prevent him from wanting to
pursue other avenues and projects and we
certainly wish him well in his future
    endeavours”.

General Manager, Mr Charl Crous, will act
in the CEO position up until such a time
when a fulltime replacement is found to
    resume the CEO duties.

@Portonian-12022: They will, but it will take time. In the meantime, there’s a fantastic talk show host on Cape Talk/702, Redi Thlabe, who always says she knows she’s on the right track when her white listeners call her a racist and her black listeners call her a coconut. Why? Because she’s made peace with herself and she understands the historical context of the time and place she lives in. Therefore the extremists can’t get to her anymore. Whattagirl.

Laxton was amazing. Didn’t he also start Hawk? I had a rather long joint filled evening/night with him, before we set off to watch the sunrise with a crowd of others, from Chapmans Peak. Partly, because of the cloud, it was about 9.00am before we realized that the sun may have already come up a couple of hours earlier.

@ryecatcher-12067: I’ve just been to the launch of her first book, Endings and beginnings. Brilliant read. She is honest and fearless and my wish for Africa is many people like her. She’s just made the Forbes list of the 20 most influential young Africans, and she now has an international show on Al Jazeera, North to South. Watch it if you can, it’s brilliant. Last Friday she had a conversation with the Indian writer Arundhati Roy. Those two women have enough energy between them to change the world. (And I’m not her PRO, promise).

  • 12076.playtheball: Reply to this comment

@playtheball-12075: Show is actually called South to North. Shows you, we’re so imprinted with the idea that the North must always tell us what to do… and that’s the point of the show.
