Hore set for hefty ban
26 Nov 2012
New Zealand hooker Andrew Hore has been cited for an off-the-ball incident which subsequently hospitalised Wales lock Bradley Davies.
Hore hit Davies off the ball during the initial stages of last Saturday’s Test in Cardiff. The incident was missed by matchday officials, but Hore has now been cited and looks likely to receive a lengthy suspension.
The time and date of the hearing, before the IRB’s appointed independent judicial officer, have yet to be fixed.
All Blacks coach Steve Hansen expects the hooker to be sidelined for some time. Hansen did not say as much, but has already called for a replacement ahead of the coming Test against England.
Dane Coles is expected to start at Twickenham.

I know what the statement said and what argument it is supporting.. it is still a stupid quote equating cars with guns
if that kid used guns belonging to his mother FOUR of them registered in her name and she was the teacher to the kids he murdered.. then WHAT in any sphere of civil society are guns in aid of.. WHAT is the reason that guns are sold to civilians for?
Outlaw the trash once and for all..

@CharlesM-13848: yeah, one can’t generalise:
but why do School Shootings keep happening in the US & just about nowhere else?
Why?
15 Dec 2012, 11:19 am
@skopdiekan-13836: Read my comments about the 740 guns lost by the police during a year – now who will be held responsible for that ? The same custodians of law and order ?
15 Dec 2012, 11:19 am
In other good news… shooter will not be going for the 14 000.
sjoe. you can relax now.

In Botswana it is illegal to own a hand rifle. 303. or .22
15 Dec 2012, 11:23 am
@CharlesM-13850: he handed himself in?
15 Dec 2012, 11:23 am
@Angostura-13852: I know it is much too easy to get hold of weapons in the USA. Their laws should be tightened but only they can make that call.
My wife’s cousin has been in Texas for the last 5 years. According to him, if you want to buy a gun (he doesn’t have one), the dealer sends your details to the CIA or some other organisation (can’t recall the exact one). If the dealer gets no reply within 24 hours, the buyer can collect the weapon. So yes it is far too easy in the USA

banning rifles across the board is not going to stop shootings. like having drugs illegal didn’t stop drug abuse. or legal drugs, for that matter.
15 Dec 2012, 11:25 am
@CharlesM-13858: then he is not so far gone as I thought
15 Dec 2012, 11:26 am
Well I’ll much rather watch cricket than taking part in a discussion about legalised weapons or the banning thereof. I’ll be back later
15 Dec 2012, 11:26 am
@shooter-13859: I agree

2 dead in shooting at Las Vegas hotel
Comment on this story
11 minutes ago
Las Vegas – Gunfire erupted in the lobby of the medieval-themed Excalibur Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas strip on Friday, killing two people in an apparent murder-suicide, Las Vegas media reported.
Police identified the dead as a woman who had worked as a concierge and a man who died from a self-inflicted wound, the Las Vegas Review-Journal newspaper reported. There was no immediate word on the nature of their relationship.
The shooting came the same day a gunman shot dead 20 school children at a suburban elementary school in Connecticut, ultimately killing at least 27 people including himself in the one of the worst incidents of its kind in US history.
Several people who said they were staying at the castle-shaped Las Vegas hotel sent out messages on Twitter expressing their alarm.
“Someone started shooting inside Excalibur & I’m stuck in our dressing room waiting to see if it’s safe to come out,” tweeted Uraina Serna.
Calls to the Las Vegas police and the Excalibur were not immediately returned. But the hotel said on Twitter: “An isolated incident has occurred at Excalibur this evening, local authorities have the matter under control.”

Andrew, remember Andrew.
This a thread about Andrew.
15 Dec 2012, 12:23 pm
if the police are inadequate to be responsible to manage and safeguard their issue firearms then fire the policemen.. and hire individuals who are trained and capable enough to be responsible for law and order in society…but do not distribute guns to civilians under any circumstances… guns should be abolished by society for general civilian use.. guns are far more detrimental to anyone’s health than many other banned substances.. outlaw guns and make alcohol illegal.. and while you about it enshrine the old mosaic law which says ‘thou shalt not kill’.. which means ‘killing’ in the broad sense of the term not only to not ‘kill’ humans… and the society you uphold as so called ‘western civilization’ will automatically become civilized.. because as it exist now in this screwed up western culture it most certainly is not
15 Dec 2012, 12:25 pm
Ya I guess Andrew also carries firearms on his ranch in south NZ where he revels in the senseless slaughter of innocent creatures.. another fck’d up uncivilized barbarian.. as are so many other so called ‘civilians’
15 Dec 2012, 12:31 pm
@skopdiekan-13851:
You make sense Skoppie.
But these people live paranoid lives and don’t feel secure unless they are packing a piece.
Then it’s whether you are paranoid or not, you NEED a piece…………………………………..Just in case.
Then shiit happens……………………………………..A lot.
15 Dec 2012, 12:34 pm
@skopdiekan-13868:
Andrew has made mistakes.
So have I.
15 Dec 2012, 12:39 pm
@cane-13869: western civilization in certain sphere’s like SA and USA are enamoured with this fear induced attachment and awe affiliated adoration and emotional attachment to killing.. hence their ‘love’ of guns… a clear indictment of how uncivilized so called ‘civilized’ humanity still holds fast to his desire and attachment to killing and the adrenalin rush that comes from such insanity..
hunters from Texas off into the African bush on ‘safari’ to ‘bag’ themselves a member of the ‘big five’.. how about that for barbarous outright insanity?
just one more example of how backward western civilization still is.
15 Dec 2012, 12:41 pm
@cane-13870: and so have all of us.. the question is who is honest and brave enough to actually correct them when facts of what comprises sane models of civilization stare them straight in the eye
15 Dec 2012, 12:46 pm
@CharlesM-13853: is that supposed to be some kind of excuse or what? if the cops are inadequate to manage their responsibility does this give you the excuse to brandish firearms as a civilian.?. what kind stupid reverse type argument you now trying to uphold as the reason for carrying a firearm as a civilian?
15 Dec 2012, 12:52 pm
@skopdiekan-13873:
The vast majority of gun crimes in SA are with weapons stolen from licensed owners.
As for the USA, until they change their cultural attachment to the 2nd ammendment and consider gun ownership as an exception, rather than the rule, they’ll never pass stricter gun laws.
15 Dec 2012, 12:54 pm
@skopdiekan-13871:
I wouldn’t be too hard on Western Civilisation Skoppie.
Sure we need to up our game. (no pun here).
Rhino’s are being killed in Africa because of Eastern/Orient demand.
So who is backward………………………………….all of us it would seem.
15 Dec 2012, 12:55 pm
@shooter-13855: the Botswana Govt are far more civilized than the SA government and the USA government for that matter
15 Dec 2012, 12:59 pm
@David-13874: only cops and army personnel and security firms should be entitled to own guns.. NO civilian should under any circumstances be allowed to own a gun under any form of legislation… and 80% of the problem will diminish. Guns are manufactured for the sole purpose of killing..’self defence’ is a lame argument.. by supplying more guns to more civilians they are not in any way diminishing the problem they are only exacerbating it
15 Dec 2012, 13:00 pm
@skopdiekan-13876:
Yep, I see they’re banning hunting entirely, even though it might affect their tourist trade.
15 Dec 2012, 13:00 pm
@cane-13869:
It depends where a person lives and whether he/she has something worthwhile to protect.
A farmer in South Africa for example who lives in the middle of nowhere is a sitting duck and has no one to protect him. Only a fool would deny such a person of the right too have a weapon to protect himself, his property and his family.
If one is not in a similar situation it is easy to talk and to say that all guns must be outlawed.
15 Dec 2012, 13:02 pm
@cane-13875: insanity abounds everywhere not only in the west.. but the west upholds itself as the moral custodian of ‘civilization’ while the west is at the forefront of promoting and carrying out its adoration with senseless killing for the sake of it.. so entire humanity is still in the infancy of backwardness.. none of the barbarian running around in human form are anywhere close to calling themselves ‘civilized” .. not in the west nor the east.. nowhere in fact.
15 Dec 2012, 13:02 pm
@skopdiekan-13877:
This was not meant for Cane, sorry.
It depends where a person lives and whether he/she has something worthwhile to protect.

15 Dec 2012, 13:03 pm
@David-13878: good for them ..about time
15 Dec 2012, 13:04 pm
@David-13878: I don’t think it will affect their tourist trade.. in fact with more wild life protected it will probably enhance it
15 Dec 2012, 13:06 pm
@skopdiekan-13877:
I agree. Remember I grew up in England when nobody was allowed to own a handgun.
15 Dec 2012, 13:06 pm
@Robzim-13881: so you happy with the wild west status quo.. that how the gun lobby in the US promotes its argument.. and then innocent kids get murdered in kindergarten by some deranged gun toting lunatic
15 Dec 2012, 13:07 pm
Dale Steyn dont need a gun. A cricket ball in his hand is a lethal weapon as Zander de Bruyn will now testify.
15 Dec 2012, 13:07 pm
@David-13884: so GB is far more civilized to her cousins across the Atlantic.. all guns should be outlawed to all civilians.. klaar
15 Dec 2012, 13:10 pm
@skopdiekan-13885:
Are you happy that farmers have no protection?
The police are outmanned and outgunned. People need sometimes to step up and take some responsibility for their own protection and stop being victims. It is our right to protect ourselves and its high time we all start doing it instead of expecting someone else to do it for us.
15 Dec 2012, 13:12 pm
@Robzim-13879:
I agree.
Without Reservation.
People need to be able defend themselves.
But some Nations have a bigger problem with availability of weapons than others.
No simple answers……………………

@Robzim-13888: you either promote civilization or you promote eye for eye tooth for tooth justice.. you decided where you going to draw the line.
Owning guns do not diminish the state of insecurity it only exacerbates it.. as long as people have easy access to guns they will believe they are entitled to use them.. in self defence or otherwise .. What makes a Botswanan farmer any less secure than a SA farmer in your estimation..? what?
15 Dec 2012, 13:24 pm

15 Dec 2012, 13:31 pm
@skopdiekan-13891:
Whether a farmer lives in remote place in Botswana or South Africa makes no difference for me- he should be able to protect himself if necessary.
The police services have failed us here in SA Skoppy- if you and I who live in a city cannot depend on them to come and help us (sometimes they dont even answer their phones) how do you think people living in remote areas will feel.
If the situation was different, i would have agreed with you re outlawing all weapons for civilians, but the sad reality in South Africa makes it impossible for me to support your views.
