Hore set for hefty ban
26 Nov 2012
New Zealand hooker Andrew Hore has been cited for an off-the-ball incident which subsequently hospitalised Wales lock Bradley Davies.
Hore hit Davies off the ball during the initial stages of last Saturday’s Test in Cardiff. The incident was missed by matchday officials, but Hore has now been cited and looks likely to receive a lengthy suspension.
The time and date of the hearing, before the IRB’s appointed independent judicial officer, have yet to be fixed.
All Blacks coach Steve Hansen expects the hooker to be sidelined for some time. Hansen did not say as much, but has already called for a replacement ahead of the coming Test against England.
Dane Coles is expected to start at Twickenham.

@ryecatcher-18699:
I’m well Rye. A nice quiet Xmas by myself in Jhb, with my wife in Cape Town for a family gathering. A very LARGE gathering.

@charo-18701:
I wondered about that after I’d posted.

not everything Zuma says is a national crisis…ffs
zuma’s rightto an extent, there are people who pay exorbitant vet fees for their pets but wouldn’t send their domestics or gardener to a private hospital for an ailment…he was saying that is not humane or within the principles of ubuntu…

@Transformation-18704: Gimme, gimme, gimme. I want everything for free.
Human beings to all intents and purposes have family, friends etc who they could/should rely on to help them in their time of need.
Animals do not.
And therein lies the difference.

Lol Rye……come rugby season this place is anything but tedious. Thing is its mostly Stormer supporters so as you can imagine its all out WAR !
You got your nasties and your nice guys, thing is not to try and not take it personally at times.
Even if Lions,Bulls,Sharks and Cheethas argue with Stormers we are still out numbered. Bull supporters have been pretty good Allies in past wars. Some of the Sharks can really dish it to make up for our lack of numbers, and can be some crazy over the top stuff…..but it is all good.

@Transformation-18704:
I agree, but his example is rather too specific when it comes to supposedly cultural differences. I know of numerous wealthy black families who treat their domestic workers like slaves yet spend a fortune on status symbols.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, I think his comments about the role of women far more significant when it comes to his view of African culture. It seemed to be more a defence of his own lifestyle.

Lol Transie, don’t think you can define your staff as pets as in having free will and can get their @arses to a doctor and know where to go and if at a govt hospital or clinic its free.
Its sounds like a bit of entitlement coming through. You choose to take care of an animal, you care for it and it normally puts you in debt as vets are freakish expensive. Its a choice, same as helping your staff or not, its a choice and also weather you can afford it or not.

@Treehugger-18706:
The Bulls have always run down the Stormers, so it’s just become a matter of “my enemies enemies are my friends”.

28 Dec 2012, 18:43 pm
@David: well zuma was addressing exactly the “black families” you speak of… today i was on a SAA flight from EL with zimbabwean lady who is domestic whose black “madam” paid for her flight to joburg & the connecting flight to Harare bcoz the madam couldnt comprehend the three day bus trip she would’ve taken…a humane story…

@Angostura-18716: Am going to piss a lot

@ryecatcher-18712: lol love it……also We are Sparta (those brave 300 b*ggers) and shame look what happened to them.
You don’t want to go firing off the 1st shot yet……there is no going back then…until end of next rugby season, and even then it takes a week or 2 for aggressions to wind down.
28 Dec 2012, 19:10 pm
Have just been sent a lovely photo of Vavi with his overweight Boerbul and Jack Russell in his arms and him saying ”he loved his dogs and is proudly black” he twittered it.

I suppose that’s my point, as the saying goes: “no generalisation is true, including this one.”
28 Dec 2012, 19:28 pm
@ryecatcher-18718:
Perhaps you misunderstand my post (don’t know)?:
I’m a sceptic, a disillusioned sceptic – not a praise-singer … of anything
I don’t see much Ubuntu … anywhere
I’d love to be persuaded otherwise – ’cause that would assuredly be good news.
28 Dec 2012, 19:36 pm
The company where I work employs in excess of 300 people. We have a pair of Zimbabwean twins one of which has developed a serious (allegedly cancerous) growth on his ankle which now requires surgery.
Like me this guy does not have medical aid and they recently organised a raffle to raise funds for him. I don’t particularly like him as I see him as lazy and too much of a smooth talker but I neverthess forked out the R50 for the ticket as he is visibly uncomfortable and would not like to be in his shoes.
To cut a long story short he made the draw himself last week and went on leave without even having the decency to issue a proper thank you to those who were unable to attend the “function”.
So much for “The Spirit of Ubuntu”.
28 Dec 2012, 19:39 pm
@Angostura-18725:
Stormers supporters are full of Ubuntu. We’re more than happy to share our opinions.
28 Dec 2012, 19:46 pm

28 Dec 2012, 20:03 pm

Small step, I guess, from my favourite tipple Fernet Branca & Grappa to Angostura

@Angostura-18725: Don,t hold your
breath pal.
28 Dec 2012, 20:12 pm
@CharlesM-18650:
Well Charles, seems like there wasn’t a sinister reason after all.
Cape Town – Bath scrumhalf Michael Claassens has reportedly agreed to a move to Toulon, but only if Jonny Wilkinson hangs up his boots at the end of the season.
According to the ESPN Scrum website, Wilkinson has recently said that he will decide whether to retire at the end of the current campaign in February. If the England flyhalf opts to call time on his playing career, it’s expected that France’s Frederic Michalak – who has been playing at No 9 this season – will cover the flyhalf position, thus leaving an opening at scrumhalf.
Claassens joined Bath ahead of the 2007/08 season and has become an integral part of their starting XV, but according to reports in the French press, Claassens, whose contract is up at the end of the 2012/13 season, has penned a pre-contract agreement with Toulon which is dependent on Wilkinson opting to retire.
If Claassens does join Toulon, who currently head the Top 14 standings, he could potentially link up with a strong Springbok contingent. Former Springbok skipper John Smit, currently playing at Saracens in England, and current Bok and Stormers wing Bryan Habana, are both reporteded to have been approached by the Top 14 big spenders, who already boast Bakkies Botha, Joe van Niekerk and Danie Rossouw in their ranks.

@Imi: me, me, me all the time
look, zuma is the last person to tell anyone about being ‘African’ or humane when he’s been vreeting taxpayer’s money since the Natalians made him MEC of Economic Development – what an oxymoron…nothing African about his bunker…
he had a point though…loading ur worker at the back of the baakie in the rain while your boerbol is riding shotgun is wack!
28 Dec 2012, 20:25 pm

@Dawn I will see if I can get it of FB, it really is a lovely picture. Remember I am tech handicapped.
28 Dec 2012, 21:28 pm
Ok Dawn, she didn’t post a twitter link….just the timeline photo and the caption on what he tweeted, haven’t a clue how to do twitter, but maybe there is way you can look at his twitter page or better yet google it. The pic with the words, his name and twitter or something.
He will be wearing green T shirt with some writing on it, black cap, black broadshorts and shades. In the garden with the dogs, really a great photo.
28 Dec 2012, 21:40 pm
University of the Free State vice-chancellor Professor Jonathan Jansen said on Facebook: “He would knock out ****; pets are unAfrican; and straight hair is white. The leader of Africa’s largest economy.”
this country needs people like Jansen to go into “ANC” politics.
so many black professionals/intellectuals who would rather idle their time away on blogging sites than do the hard yards and get this country back on top again.
