Hore set for hefty ban

Hore set for hefty ban

New Zealand hooker Andrew Hore has been cited for an off-the-ball incident which subsequently hospitalised Wales lock Bradley Davies.

Hore hit Davies off the ball during the initial stages of last Saturday’s Test in Cardiff. The incident was missed by matchday officials, but Hore has now been cited and looks likely to receive a lengthy suspension.

The time and date of the hearing, before the IRB’s appointed independent judicial officer, have yet to be fixed.

All Blacks coach Steve Hansen expects the hooker to be sidelined for some time. Hansen did not say as much, but has already called for a replacement ahead of the coming Test against England.

Dane Coles is expected to start at Twickenham.

i see the christmas football match is well and truly over…

played through extra time to an entertaining draw…

but now normal service is resumed…

    so…

back to the trenches to take up sniping positions and the occasional charge over top at the other side for some bayonet-fixed hand-to-hand combat…

i think i’ll hang onto the ball…!

And my unbiased hatred of all forms of discrimination, in sport in particular, applies to my withdrawal of support of South African cricket . ON TOP OF THAT is the removal of the Springbok emblem as the symbol of South African sporting greatness.

    Kings sign Adongo
    December 31st, 2012

Daniel Adongo’s dream of playing Super
Rugby will soon come to fruition when the
burly Kenyan forward turns out for Port
Elizabeth’s Southern Kings in South Africa’s
    Eastern Cape Province next season.

The 23-year-old, who is based at Counties
Manukau, New Zealand, has signed for Kings
for the 2013 Super Rugby season that gets
under way on February 15 culminating with
    the final on August 3.

Adongo is returning to the Southern Africa
nation where he ditched another Super
Rugby side Blue Bulls in July.

He will head back to Counties Manukau after
the Super Rugby ready for the National
    Provincial Championship popularly known as
ITM Cup Premier League that starts late
    August to early November.

    Go Kings!

you supported everything sport wise BEFORE the referundums, you never supported Australia or England, you cheered for non-merit SA teams! Fact

    ;-)

Good news about Adongo, but Kings problem not so much at loose forward & lock, but rather at prop (imo) – pity they couldn’t beef up their resources at prop.

Any news about the limitation to 2 foreigners: Is that for the whole Super XV squad, for the match day squad, or a limitation to 2 foreigners on the field of play at any given time?

  • 19361.BrumbiesBoy: Reply to this comment

@Transformation-19359: As a non-violent person, voting the way I did in the referendums was basically the only opportunity I had to tell the Nationalist regime what I thought of their segregationalist policies, Dum-dum!

  • 19362.Transformation: Reply to this comment

@Angostura: my understanding is that only 2 foreigners in the squad submitted to SARU & further on to SANZAR. if the rule is not changed/relaxed 3 players will find themselves surplus to requirement.

how can in one breath say the Springbok emblem (as applied across all sporting codes in the past) represented SA sporting “excellence” when it NEVER represented the majority of the population?

Basil d’Olivera couldn’t play for the cricket Springboks, so how did they represent SA excellence in sport?! you should’ve never supported them too. f.uck the referundums…

  • 19367.Transformation: Reply to this comment

  • 19368.David: Reply to this comment

    @BrumbiesBoy-19364:
Claiming that there are two wrongs is a purely subjective opinion. As for the Kings, the S15 is a regional competition designed to feature the countries best players, not a reward for CC performance. The Brumbies, Force and Rebels were all awarded Super status based on development of rugby in their region.

  • 19369.nortierd: Reply to this comment

    @Transformation-19367:
True, but look what happened last time he did that.
Also, McCaw is taking a real sabbatical

  • 19370.nortierd: Reply to this comment

    @David-19368:
It is comparing apples to pears if one wants to compare the SA setup against the Australian one.
They pushed for teams to make up for the fact that they do not have any regional competition, unlike SA and NZ.
The local derbies in the S15 has a duel purpose for them.
The Aussies have 2 to many sides in the Superrugby, but then again, so do we.
We will have to wait and see how the Kings fare before having the right to judge them on rugby related matters, but at this stage it is unfair to judge them on SARFU’s shortcomings in dealing with the matter on their inclusion.

I agree. Our main problem is distance between most of our major cities and rugby centres. Effectively we have 6 and Australia 5, with only Perth and Brisbane at a distance from the other 3.
This is, I believe the major problem in including our major centres and CC unions into viable franchises. However excluding the EC region from the Super competition is a slap in the face to rugby lovers in the region and the history of SARU.
Let’s face it, the Golden Lions supporters never complained about a loss of identity when joined with the Cheetahs as they saw themselves as the senior partner, even though the Cheetahs were a more successful CC union during the franchise life.
What annoys me about this anti Kings stance based on historic performances is that the history of black EC rugby and the original SARU is not just ignored but remains something almost non existent to our white population.

Auckland – All Blacks captain Richie McCaw is reported to be dating an English woman who organises high-priced *** parties and is a friend of the Duchess of Cambridge.

According to the Stuff website, the pair met during the All Blacks’ recent end of year tour to the UK, and McCaw – who turns 32 today – was said to be ready to use his six-month sabbatical from the game to pursue the relationship, according to Woman’s Day.

Emma Sayle, 34, was described as six-foot tall, a colonel’s daughter and the boss of Killing Kittens, where strictly vetted couples pay up to $300 each to attend *** parties.

She was a church-going Christian who said she never took part in the parties.

She knew Kate Middleton through boarding school, with the pair bonding after the future queen joined Sayle’s charity group, The Sisterhood, which paddled a dragon boat across the English Channel in 2007.

In May, Sayle broke off an engagement to the son of former England cricketer Sir Ian Botham, and has previously dated England rugby player James Haskell.

Good day Nortie, David, Jeraldjay, Ufo, Tree h and Bakkies – hope you’re well!
We arrived yesterday in Hermanus – there was one hell of a fire which started Friday, was seemingly under control but due to the wind, it picked up during the night and Saturday it was one big “inferno” destroying more than 20 000 ha of fynbos and “veld” – over a distance of 12 km upto Stanford. The road between Stanford and Hermanus was closed on Saturday: during the more than 30 years I’ve been coming here, I’ve never seen such damage due to a fire.
For those that know the area, you can see most of the lagoon from the road – in the past only sections were visible

And not “f.uck the referendums,” f.uck your attitude baba, it sucks!

What was I supposed to do?

Plant a bomb outside Ellis Park like that cowardly “freedom fighter” did?

    Or blow up a Wimpy?

Or pull a McBride and stick a bomb outside Magoo’s in Durban because there “may have” been (dronky) Permanent Force members in it at the time?

No Sir, we all know that the ANCs “struggle” against “the system” was justified, but to attack innocent civilians and targets smacks of cowardice of the highest order and was certainly not the way to go IMO.

    Please get a life.

And lose those chips on the shoulders.

Tree, I spoke to a resident of Hermanus this morning. He and his wife took a drive to the Yacht club yesterday to look at some of the damage. A lot of yachts and some caravans were destroyed but the worst according to him was the fact that a large number of tortoises ( many of them small ones) died as well.

Yes, the ill fated Cats fiasco.
The guys from Bloemfontein where treated like the ugly stepsister.
If they didn’t have Laurie Mains who knows how they would have fared.
I do feel sorry in a manner for the Kings.
If they had a guaranteed spell of say 3 or so years, they might have had time to try and build something, but that won’t happen.
I personally can’t condone and accept the way the whole matter was handled and the interference that got them in a position where they are thrown to the lions as it were.
The promises they made regarding transformation and development of players will come to naught now, as they will be scrambling for survival.
We saw with the relegation match against the FS that they had hardly any black player in their side, bar a wing from NZ, and to cling onto Tiger Mangweni is ludicrous, he played all over and his better playing days are long behind him.
They might be competitive in the opening rounds and could even beat the Force or Rebels, but beyond that I think their sole purpose will be to build a team to beat the Lions in the relegation match.
I could be wrong of course, but that is how I see it

  • 19390.BrumbiesBoy: Reply to this comment

@David-19368: Not quite true David, there were no other regions/franchises in contention when the Brumbies were formed.

There were (I think) three areas in contention when the Force “won” the bid for Super Rugby inclusion (much the same as the Free State did over the Eastern Cape) circa 2005.

And sadly we all know that due to player limitations/restrictions the Aussies cannot sustain a fifth franchise hence the joke called the Rebels.
