Hore set for hefty ban

New Zealand hooker Andrew Hore has been cited for an off-the-ball incident which subsequently hospitalised Wales lock Bradley Davies.
Hore hit Davies off the ball during the initial stages of last Saturday’s Test in Cardiff. The incident was missed by matchday officials, but Hore has now been cited and looks likely to receive a lengthy suspension.
The time and date of the hearing, before the IRB’s appointed independent judicial officer, have yet to be fixed.
All Blacks coach Steve Hansen expects the hooker to be sidelined for some time. Hansen did not say as much, but has already called for a replacement ahead of the coming Test against England.
Dane Coles is expected to start at Twickenham.

There is no doubt that the foundation did wonderful work. It is very well documented. Lance obviously also benefited from it in terms of “buying” goodwil fom people and getting publicity.
Re cheating in general.. there is an interesting soccer article in “Die Burger” today written by Louis de Villiers in which he addresses the Luis Suarez- incidents including his handball that basically knocked Ghana out of the World Cup in 2010. De Villiers eventually came to the conclusion that just about any professional soccerplayer (it can read “sportsman” as well imo) will try and get away with whatever is possible and that the supporters will be more then happy JUST AS LONG AS THE PARTICULAR SPORTSMAN PLAYS FOR THEIR TEAM. He further argued that soccer fans (sport fans in general ) are therefore partly contributing towards the cheating of players.
I reckon he has very good point.

“Springboks and Vodacom Bulls players, Chiliboy Ralepelle and Bjorn Basson, can return to playing rugby immediately after a Judicial Committee found that there was “no fault” on the part of the players for positive tests for a banned stimulant.
Ralepelle and Basson were charged under anti-doping regulations after they tested positive for Methylhexaneamine (MHA) following the Springbok Test against Ireland in Dublin on November 6, 2010, SARU said in a statement released on Friday.
The players were provisionally suspended from all rugby activities as a result and had to return home from the tour. Basson and Ralepelle attended the hearing in Cape Town on Tuesday after their ‘B’ sample also tested positive.
“This verdict completely quashes any idea that either the players or the team were guilty of any attempt to cheat,” said Jurie Roux, CEO of SARU. “No responsibility attaches to the players at all.
“The banned stimulant was in a supplement given to the players in the warm-up before the Test against Ireland and is a product that has been used by the Springboks before – without any adverse analytical findings – and is used by other professional and national teams in both hemispheres.
“It was manufactured in the UK and was tested at SARU’s request by one of only two laboratories in the world equipped to perform the necessary protocols in order to ensure that it complied with the requirements of the World Anti-Doping Authority (WADA)”.

During a training session, Spies felt short of breath and started to cough up blood. A medical examination revealed clots on his lungs, leading to a diagnosis of preliminary embolism, a very serious and quite often career ending condition. There are a number of factors which can bring on this condition genetic linkage, malignancy.
It is true that Pierre Spies’ father had the suffered from the same/similar condition and died prematurely from it.
