Hore set for hefty ban

New Zealand hooker Andrew Hore has been cited for an off-the-ball incident which subsequently hospitalised Wales lock Bradley Davies.

Hore hit Davies off the ball during the initial stages of last Saturday’s Test in Cardiff. The incident was missed by matchday officials, but Hore has now been cited and looks likely to receive a lengthy suspension.

The time and date of the hearing, before the IRB’s appointed independent judicial officer, have yet to be fixed.

All Blacks coach Steve Hansen expects the hooker to be sidelined for some time. Hansen did not say as much, but has already called for a replacement ahead of the coming Test against England.

Dane Coles is expected to start at Twickenham.

the UK Border Agency contacted the
    South Africa-born forward on Tuesday
that the process had not yet been
started, as well as offering him options
that would enable him to remain in the
    United Kingdom.

“We have not curtailed Mr Fourie’s visa at
this time and he is not required to leave
the UK,” a UK Border Agency spokesman
    told the Daily Telegraph.

“His employment contract with Sale Rugby
Club has been terminated and his employer
has rightly informed UKBA of this decision.
We are considering what action to take
    next.

“If an individual’s circumstances change and
they no longer meet the terms of their
specific visa, they can apply for a visa of a
    different type.

“Mr Fourie has been informed of the
process and the various options available to
him. It is entirely up to him if he chooses
to explore any of them further.”

you know, reading that makes me think Sale may even have tried to cynically get rid of him post haste for whatever reasons they thought neccessary and in order to avoid a tear jerking session with the player and his agent they came up with the claim that the UKBA were the ones after him and they ‘unfortunately’ could not help it.

why would he have been under the impression he was being forced out when in fact the UKBA had no such plans or intentions yet?

    something smells fishy.

either the club or his agent have a hand in this.

@i_love_u_bakkiesbotha-22244: I can try although it’s going to be very difficult as it was so long ago (possibly early 2000s?)

Please believe me when I say I’m not just posting to stir the pot; I do remember the home team widening the gap after that and winning “convincingly” but that is not the point, rather that they gained an unfair advantage through poor officiating.

I do also recall that it was not widely reported in the local media because, as I’m sure you well know, the South African media only tend to report on these sort of things when the game has gone the “wrong” way.

This applies particularly when the opposing team happens to be Australian IMO.

DHL Stormers hit the training ground
    - Tuesday, January 08, 2013
DHL Stormers coach Allister Coetzee wore a broad smile on his face after the second day of training at the squad’s High Performance Centre base in Bellville on Tuesday.

The Absa Currie Cup-winning coach and the rest of his coaching staff welcomed back their players to the HPC on Monday after a three-week break over the Festive Season.

However, all the players followed individual fitness programmes during the off-season and the coach was delighted with the results.

“I was satisfied with all the players – all of whom returned in great shape,” said Coetzee on Tuesday.

“We did a lot of fitness during November and December and the guys went away and stuck to their programmes over the holiday season.

“This week we will be continuing with a conditioning phase, with a rugby element to it, but next week on our pre-season camp in Hermanus our focus will be solely rugby specific.”

Coetzee will announce the squad for the Hermanus camp on Friday as well as confirming the team’s two pre-season friendlies which take place early next month.

The coach concluded: “It’s always great getting away as a squad and we’re looking forward to our trip to Hermanus.”

sheesh bud… i hope like heck they do well… but never confident that they will… got good players and management… imo… but they’ve gotta bring consistency to the table this year over everything else… have to play 80 minute games weekend after weekend…

then it we can carry the more adventurous rugby played by WP… and our players can stay fit… sure we have as much chance as the next team…

but i believe your’s is the team to beat… we got lucky in the cc final… and i have a feeling the sharks are gonna win the whole thing…

i’m a big lambie fan and really chuffed plum has made him his number one number ten…

i think he’s gonna be a revelation… (or more so than anyone expects…)

so ja… wopuld love stormers to do well and will go to every match as usual…

but reckon it’s the sharks to lose…
