Hore set for hefty ban

Hore set for hefty ban

New Zealand hooker Andrew Hore has been cited for an off-the-ball incident which subsequently hospitalised Wales lock Bradley Davies.

Hore hit Davies off the ball during the initial stages of last Saturday’s Test in Cardiff. The incident was missed by matchday officials, but Hore has now been cited and looks likely to receive a lengthy suspension.

The time and date of the hearing, before the IRB’s appointed independent judicial officer, have yet to be fixed.

All Blacks coach Steve Hansen expects the hooker to be sidelined for some time. Hansen did not say as much, but has already called for a replacement ahead of the coming Test against England.

Dane Coles is expected to start at Twickenham.

Louis Luyt and info scandal’s Dr Eschel Rhoodie? For those who do not know, the Nat government set up a propaganda paper called Citizen to counter the Rand Daily Mail in the 70s or early 80s and Dr Luyt was its frontman. Millions were channelled into it and funds were lost without trace. Dr Rhoodie ended up in Switzerland a very rich man and was never brought to book. Dr Mulder, then info minister and BJ Foster were the political fall guys and Groot Krokodil took over.

President Mandela was forced to appear in a high court by Louis Luyt when he wanted to set up a commission of inquiry to investigate the affairs of Saru. Madiba lost on technicality and Louis Luyt’s fortunes at Saru went pear shaped and ended up formig a party that is not existing anymore. I believe he is a pensioner somewhere in KZN now.

For both instances Dr Luyt never stood infront of a court to answer!

The question is: there are questions of financial probity hanging on Dr. Luyt as just mentioned. Are you as consistent with him as you do with Cheeky Watson?

    Just asking -

When S.African pink-piggies shout that something, anything, is bad or ugly or unacceptable and lily white unpure, then the exact opposite has to be true and believed and accepted and applied(to the nth degree) by the genuine, true communities of S.Africa, and in their millions too.
In short, what is BAD for whites is most emphatically GOOD and WHOLESOME for All BLACKS.
That has now reached ‘FOLKLORE’ proportions and is an unwritten rule of the S.African nature.

So The WATSONIANS(not the Bo-Kaap club) of the Eastern Cape must be a threat to them ‘skollies’ for it must be GOOD and WHOLESOME and acceptable for millions, despite whatever the results may say, for history is what will be written and that is the important undeniable factor.

HATE on, while the rest enjoy your false, fake ride..

    @Skeppie-25262:

    Skeppie

    1. Tenderpreneurship: I don’t know if Cheeky’s companies are involved in this, but let us assume the affirmative for purposes hereof. Personally I’m in favour of AA & BEE in order to redress the injustices of the past, but I’m not in favour of tenderpreneurship as it is applied in South Africa. The point is this, tenderpreneurship as a method of advancement for segments of the previously disadvantaged communities does exist, and some are benefitting from it. That being the case, why can Cheeky’s (a previously disadvantaged person, albeit a white one, that identified, played & worked with the disadvantaged masses) companies not also benefit from tenderpreneurship if the opportunity presents itself? Must Cheeky & his family suffer under all regimes, then and now? Besides, his companies might not be “white” companies – there may be shareholders & directors of other races in those companies. But for me the clincher is this: these are purely socio-political considerations: I do not believe it is proper to deny anybody his place in the sun purely on socio-political grounds. I don’t despise the super-rich’s involvement in sport, nor a communist, nor a one-time gangster who graced the wing for the Springboks, etc. Tenderpreneurship is not a sporting consideration & I don’t believe Cheeky as Sports Administrator should be judged on that or for his (presumed) support of the ANC.

    2. Springbok emblem: I am also emotionally attached to the Springbok emblem, & would for personal, selfish reasons not like to see it go. But there is no denying the reality that for a very long time the majority of South Africans (including whites) saw the Springbok as the emblem representing the pinnacle of white-only sport. Hence I can understand the resentment towards the Springbok as emblem for non-racial rugby in a new South Africa. I don’t for one moment believe the Springbok to be a unifying emblem (how does an emblem of white exclusivity unify)? It was an act of incredible reconciliation towards & accommodation of white folk for the powers that be to grant rugby the continued use of the Springbok emblem. We should be grateful. Nevertheless, I can understand why people like Cheeky campaign against the Springbok, & indeed resent that emblem. My attitude is this: I treasure the Springbok, but will not oppose its demise, & will give the Protea the same loyal support if it should become SA Rugby’s new emblem. With respect, I think my sentiments on this topic might be more in tune with that of the South African majority than yours. Given this background, how can one begrudge Cheeky his right to campaign in accordance with his conscience?

    3. As for Cheeky trying to secure a place for Luke in the Springbok team – I do not know that to be true or false. Snor said many things, & I have difficulty believing some of the things he said. But if Cheeky did so, I strongly disapprove of that based on rugby & ethical considerations. But I do not believe that that is enough to write off the man given his & his brothers’ pioneering actions for the benefit of non-racial rugby in South Africa.
{As an aside, I believe that during Jake White’s tenure as Bok coach Luke was already good enough to be a fairly regular selection as Bok loose forward, but Jake overlooked him on what could only be non-rugby considerations; this must have caused further resentment}.

    4. “He brings race into everything” – Ah, please that is a meaningless, emotive, unsubstantiated averment, not deserving any further reply.

    5. He “disrespects all afrikaners in a general sense (clearly showing he is a racist himself) and just seems to be an all round douchebag” – I am an Afrikaner in the sense that my mother tongue was Afrikaans, I attended Afrikaans schools, an Afrikaans church & my first university was predominantly Afrikaans. But I don’t feel that Cheeky disrespects me. “all Afrikaners”? – There’s no such thing. Afrikaners are not homogeneous. Hendrik Verwoerd & PW Botha were Afrikaners. But so were Beyers Naude, Frederick van Zyl Slabbert, Eugene Terre Blanche, & many more that one could not confine to a single stereotype. “all round douchebag” – that’s just an emotive opinion, but it’s your prerogative to express such.
{As an aside, it was an aim of the Afrikaner Broederbond to control SA Rugby for socio-political reasons and they eventually managed to do so; I can elaborate on this, but it is an entirely separate, lengthy & interesting topic. I suspect this is the reason for Cheeky & Luke’s resentment towards Afrikaner control of rugby. Also, you must remember that the Watsons suffered under the hands of the Security Police, and at the time most of them were Afrikaners, I can vouch for that}.

Look, I have not met Cheeky (& have no brief to speak for him), I don’t know if I’d like him, (& I suspect not) – but I’m surely not going to hate him like several people clearly do. Cheeky was a very good rugby player & for reasons of conscience he sacrificed potential highest honour; he did well for SA Rugby all those decades ago; more recently he rectified the shambles that was EP Rugby & he is seemingly in the process of turning it around. I respect him for that & wish that more white South Africans would do so. I think most others already do.

In addition Cheeky is hated because he lived his Chritian values of treating everyone as equal and obviously that was in collision with the apartheid laws. A White person that was in opposition was seen as atraitor and Cheeky was not spared that. Some bloggers here hate him for trying to be a person who respected everyone and obviously are still indoctrinated.

Dr Craven said in the past: no Black person would be a Springbok in his life. But he changed his views later in his life. He was just a victim of his surroundings and time because it was an acceptable thing those times.
So some of the whwite folks get angry and defensive when these things are brought to their attention.

We are going to remove the oog klappies bit by bit.

@Angostura-25364: Wow, that is one seriously well written and well thought out reply.
I concede that emotion comes into my thinking as well as unsubstantiated statements but that is what having an opinion is all about.
In terms of tenderpreneurship I have no concrete evidence but have “heard a lot of things” this does not make Cheeky guilty so it’s purely an opinion, that said my answer to your question is no…..just because he is a so called PDI (Which is rubbish, I doubt he grew up in a township wondering where he next meal would come from) does not earn him the right to tenders he cannot fulfill….basics of economics….if we give business to cadres to right the wrongs of the past our economy will simply fail (again he may not have been involved at all).

In terms of the Bok emblem, why can the symbol not unite? Yes racist whites used to see the bok emblem as theirs but why can that not change? The Bok emblem is now a completley new symbol as is the bok team.

Maybe my comment about his attitude to Afrikaners was out of line….I am a soutie but feel that afrikaners should not be disparaged just because of the past. I was obviously talking about white afrikaners (not sure which type you are) and the Watsons attitude to white afrikaners specifically. I have heard dear Luke’s attitude to white afrikaners first hand and it is clearly a theme in the family.

In closing….I refuse to allow my own inherent white guilt to overrule injustice when I see it, what people of my skin colour did to all people not of my skin colour historically in this country was heinous and for that I will always have some kind of guilt but this is a new country where we are all supposedley equal and being positive to someone just because he backs your skin colour class cannot be healthy….hence my diatribe on Cheeky.
