Hore set for hefty ban

New Zealand hooker Andrew Hore has been cited for an off-the-ball incident which subsequently hospitalised Wales lock Bradley Davies.
Hore hit Davies off the ball during the initial stages of last Saturday’s Test in Cardiff. The incident was missed by matchday officials, but Hore has now been cited and looks likely to receive a lengthy suspension.
The time and date of the hearing, before the IRB’s appointed independent judicial officer, have yet to be fixed.
All Blacks coach Steve Hansen expects the hooker to be sidelined for some time. Hansen did not say as much, but has already called for a replacement ahead of the coming Test against England.
Dane Coles is expected to start at Twickenham.

DURBAN – Sport and Recreation Minister Fikile Mbalula on Friday labelled Bafana Bafana’s players heroes, and thanked them for shaping the youth of South Africa.
Coach Gordon Igesund’s men have decided to forego any bonuses during the group stages of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament, which is currently underway, preferring to get paid only if they qualify for the quarterfinals.
Mbalula said those types of decisions strengthened the social fiber of society.
“In South Africa, we (feel) so entitled; we think that money comes before everything else.
“For our national team to communicate a message to the youth that we are not entitled… says something about the social fiber of a nation.”
Mbalula said he would not hold back on rewards if Bafana clinched the Afcon trophy.
South Africa, currently lying top of Group A, face Morocco on Sunday in their final group match – victory in that game will ensure their passage into the knockout phase.
The minister said he had a huge surprise on standby for the players.
“I am prepared to ask for more money if they win… I am ‘Mister Giver’ as you know.
“I’m going to give them something big if they win – you will see a Rolls-Royce rolling in just like that.”

@Liewe Luiperd-27043: Yes, I know that they are trying to ‘conscientise’ gentleman Andrew Hudson into their racially oppresive way of thinking with scant regard for the Springbok cricket coach, whose a.se it is which is on the chopping block should the team fail.
Let it be known once again that I will NEVER support any South African sportiing code which endorses racism in any respect,and my stance is not negotiable in any way.
As for the Springbok emblem, I maintain that this is the measure by which all deserving sportsmen/women should be addressed (quotas excluded obviously) and accordingly sporting excellence should be warded by the display of this prestigious emblem. Furthermore, the current ‘national sporting emblem’ in this PC-obsessed country of ours is sexist imo, because it represents the ‘King’ Protea…this is not acceptable and is insulting towards people of the ‘othe’r ***…this may sound petty to some people but I feel very strongly about this.
