Hore set for hefty ban

Hore set for hefty ban

New Zealand hooker Andrew Hore has been cited for an off-the-ball incident which subsequently hospitalised Wales lock Bradley Davies.

Hore hit Davies off the ball during the initial stages of last Saturday’s Test in Cardiff. The incident was missed by matchday officials, but Hore has now been cited and looks likely to receive a lengthy suspension.

The time and date of the hearing, before the IRB’s appointed independent judicial officer, have yet to be fixed.

All Blacks coach Steve Hansen expects the hooker to be sidelined for some time. Hansen did not say as much, but has already called for a replacement ahead of the coming Test against England.

Dane Coles is expected to start at Twickenham.

    @nama1-28050: I see Makhaya Ntini’s hand in this as well.

    At three out out of 28 wins it is just short of SASCOC & Co’s official quota figures.

    @The Sharks rugby pedigree is packaged as dog food-27847:
    Why is that tragic?
    A natural consequence of free enterprise = make a profit OR make a loss (incur debt), outcome NOT guaranteed
    & one of thetruly tragic consequences (for creditors, trade suppliers, employees, etc.) of free enterprise is that one can structure your business in a corporate entity thereby normally escaping personal legal liability
    but, conversely
    Partnership = JOINT AND several liability …

    A case of “eyes wide shut”?

    RIP Louis Luyt

    I can remember being on a troop train leaving PE for Pretoria & as the train was pulling off some vendors running next to the train selling to us “roofies” bottles of brew; only back in my compartment did I notice & have my first taste of Luyt Lager;

    A few years later at varsity I was a founder member of an exclusive, invitation only drinking club, Club 33, sponsored by Luyt’s Intercontinental Breweries (flagship brew being Kronenbrau 1308);

    Needless to say, at that stage I was quite impressed with LL; :-)

    Another few years later I lost respect for him as the Info-gate scandal broke;

    Those negative feelings were reinforced by his boorish, ungracious behaviour after the Bokke won the ’95 RWC;

    but then, sometime later,

    I read his biography and revised my opinion of him – although a formidable, hard, brazen, artless, controversial person (probably because of his disadvantaged upbringing), he was driven by passion & single-minded purpose (probably also because of his childhood hardship); he was never really part of the Afrikaner elite inner-circle, & in fact had to extricate the Transvaal RFU from the bad decisions/policies of those; he was a self-made man come good, from the wrong side of the tracks; a businessman & sports administrator of some vision, ability & success, net-net he was a good son of South Africa, “‘n Triomf”, one could say.

    Farking well done Kenya.

    The AB’s infringed so many times at the breakdown and the ref just allowed it.

    The final is their for the taking.

    Bakkies, theory’s are a bit over the top but damn the AB’s tried to slow down the Kenyan ball so many times at the breakdown, it was daylight robbery.

    They deserved that victory, especially cause it was in the AB’s own backyard.

    Put it in your pipe and spoke it.

    If I was Smittie I wouldn’t enforce the follow on. The pitch is going to deteriorate apparently. Having said that, the overcast conditions favour the quickies on both sides.

    @David-28084: I agree (coz I wouldn’t like to bat last against Ajmal & Hafeez, & coz it seems to be difficult for bowlers to maintain the intensity for 2 innings in a row)

    Smith will be silly not to enforce the follow-on – our bowlers are still fresh.

    Yeah. Do you remember how he bounced the Windies in an ODI in Bloem? We’d got a low total that looked easy to beat. The Windies complained that so many short balls was unsportsmanlike. He was virtually unplayable. :lol:

  • 28092.Angostura: Reply to this comment

    If our batsmen can now dominate them, THAT (together with the bowling performance) would psychologically destroy PAK for the series … (just posted their lowest ever innings total in a Test)

    no follow on, plisa!
